Olivos del Mar is a 10 generation family business, dedicated to olive oil and olives marinated in the most fabulous ways, apt to Mediterranean palates and even the non connaisseurs of the magic of olive oil! The don’t use GMO’s, glucose, or artificial flavors, and the olives are cold pressed. Their story started when John Emile Goux brought olives and grape vines to Santa Barbara, where he planted the very first olive orchard. He was trying to find a similar Mediterranean climate away from Spain and France. USDA approved, their olives are 100% organic and are sold either online or in selected stores. I was very glad to meet the sons of the newer generation of olive growers at the San Diego zoo food & drink event last September and I was amazed by the extraordinary quality. They were very generous offering jars of olives marinated with lemon and garlic and other green olives with spices and herbs like rosemary. They grow several cultivars, mostly the Spanish varieties. Very pleasant taste, mostly to use in salads, over bread and the olives… any time, with wine, beer, sodas, by themselves, olives are wonderful. You don’t need to buy import when you have these local pearls.
