Had a great visit here! The service was great, the restaurant is very clean and the food was delicious. Avoid the long waits and chaos at Los Agaves and go to Los Arroyos! We both had chicken enchiladas and they were off the hook!

This place seems to have gone a little downhill. I’ve been coming here for years and I like the food, but sometimes I feel like it’s thrown together. The staff is not the friendliest, as of my last couple of visits anyway, but I feel the employees they used to have were quite friendly and helpful. They don’t give free chips any more, which I always thought was a nice gesture and quite frankly is what most Mexican restaurants do.

Mexican food is my favorite and so I eat a lot of it. This place easily ranks in the top 5 of best Mexican food I’ve had. The prices are much lower than what I would expect for the quality of food/ingredients. The restaurant is like a combo of self serve and sit down. We sat down looked through the menu and then my husband put our order in at the register. The food was then brought to our table. I was ok with this but some people would prefer to have their order taken at the table. I did notice that there was a large group there and they requested to have their order taken at the table and the waiter did. They have a self serve salsa bar and fountain drink. The restaurant is not very big and it seems to get busy. Initially thought we wouldn’t get a table. The employees were very friendly and helpful, even after I changed my order after I had already placed one.(Luckily they hadn’t started on the first order I put in!) My husband ordered the shrimp empanadas, my daughter had the chicken cilantro salad, my son got the kids bean burrito, and I got the posole. I tried my husbands empanadas and they were delicious! He agreed that they were tasty! My daughter’s salad was also really good. The chicken was very tasty and the dressing was perfect for the salad. She finished everything and was very pleased with her meal. My son loved his bean burrito. My posole was a bit different than traditional posole but it was very impressive. I really appreciated the slight variations on traditional posole, gave it a more refined feel. It was so good and full of flavor, my kids were even digging in and loving it!

Love this place! Service was fast and food came out quickly despite it being a busy night. Live music playing out front. Great wine selection. The guacamole is DELICIOUS! I ordered the sopes and they were awesome. Everyone at our table was happy with their selection… will definitely go back!

Small burritos, expensive price! Although the staff are cool and it’s the first place I’ve seen that isn’t Jewish with the salsa!

We have been there the first time … but for sure not the last time. We love their food and it is really nice to see that the price is not always the most important thing.. Hugh portions for little money … something that doesn’t happen often nowadays

Great place with nice service and awesome food. Had Tostada Ranchera and my fiancée had the special Juanito’s Xtra protein Burrito made with filet mignon and whole beans, avocado and roasted on the grill. The portions a Hugh for a small price. Come try and enjoy yourself.

Would not return, the food was okay the service brought them to 3 stars. The staff was rude, they charged $ 7 for a small side of beans and rice which was bland and tasteless, will stick with Los Agaves

Let me just start by saying I LOVE when the mild salsa is actually mild, like I-can-actually-eat-this mild. Makes me so happy Oh and the food? So amazing! Super savory and full of flavor. And the staff is so friendly and accommodating. Thanks guys!

Portion sizes are tiny. Also they have stopped giving free chips for«side orders» so if you don’t want a huge meal but just small burrito or side beans and veggies you can’t have chips… This is recent. Chips are cheap to make… I think it’s very stingy to not provide chips with a meal. Everyone has their own dietary needs and may not want to order a 1,000+ calorie meal. Other Mexican restaurants always give free chips, no matter the order type. Anyway, their burritos are pretty good. But they are very small. This place overcharges… But they get away with it because it actually tastes good. Beware you may be still hungry after your meal if you eat more than a kids size burrito. Oh and last time I ordered two separate orders on the phone just called once to make it easier for the restaurant and the person I was with. We come pick it up… Paying separately and they try to make it seem like it’s all one order and tell us we can only have 1 free chips(before the whole no more chips if order is under $ 10 basically) they wanted to charge us for the second chips… Are you kidding me?! So I told them okay next time we will call you twice, and make 2 different orders… Since you cannot comprehend that we are two different people, with 2 different credit cards, headed 2 different places with our meals. But I don’t think there will be a next time. Also, come to think of it. When I was in high school, they made everyone pay for chips. It’s okay though plenty of Mexican restaurants to go to, where this isn’t a problem.

This establishment has terrible customer service. I used to to here at least 3 times a week and my orders were no less then $ 50. First off it’s a true shocker that they do Not automatically give you chips and salsa with every order. But then when paying as much as one does on a meal there I find a huge dead FLIE in my meal!!! Disgusting! So I call and no one offers a refund. So then I ask to call the owner. I get a hold of manager and they say to offer me a couple of free meal coupons and they would be mailed to my house. The staff was not concerned at all and seemed to not care or fix the situation. End of story still have not received anything in mail. Truly disappointing.

I went to Los Arroyos Montecito recently and ordered to take away… for the first time ! Actually, I loved eating my Mexican diner at home, combining the advantages of their food and my place ! Solid boxes, no leaking, and as much salsa I wanted to take home, and still hot when opening ! The perfect combination. I recommend it !

First time here during much and this Mexican spot didn’t disappoint! I never really go out and eat in Mexican restaurants(because I eat it at home) but I got invited here by a co-worker and it was great. I ordered the green chicken enchiladas plate and it came so juicy and hot my mouth was watering. The service was attentive and fast, even during lunch hour. I will have to give this place another try and will recommend to anyone within walking distance to eat lunch here!

This place is damn good. Great place to come grab a quick burrito and really good chips! It was so good, on my drive back home the next day I stopped by the Camarillo Mall location for another. The service at both locations was really good, but I will admit the burrito at the downtown SB location was much better.

Los Arroyos is okay enough I guess. It’s certainly not horrible, but I prefer to not settle for the«not horrible» choice when my other options are potentially amazing! The food overall is pretty bland IMO — everything has the same mushy texture and the food always seems to be just lukewarm. When people say, «Let’s eat at Los Arroyos!» my guts are saying, «Uhhh are you absolutely sure you’re okay with this decision?» A smart woman always listens to her gut. I know several people that are totally sprung over the food, so there’s that for ya. We just didn’t have the right chemistry.

Fast, good food! We live up in Seattle now and there’s a few ok Mexican places but really — if you want GREAT Mexican food, you have to head south. We only had a very short time to grab lunch before having to get to the airport, so stopped into Los Arroyos. I had a simple garden burrito, but man was it good. Tasted very fresh and it was a hearty enough lunch to tide me over. The guac was bright and fresh, lots of awesome salsas to choose from. Service was FAST and the staff was organized and friendly. Will definitely eat here again when in town.

I was looking for a quick bite to eat. I saw Mexican food here and took a peek from outside their large windows to investigate. Was it good Mexican food? Who was eating here? I took a look around and saw only gringos. I was skeptical. I asked my husband«Can you see in the kitchen? Are there Mexicans in there?» I was teetering on my toes trying to see the kitchen. Just then I heard a man’s voice from behind me, a cook was taking his break while leaning against a tree.” «Si, Mexicanos.» he kind of wanted to laugh at me. Chile Rellenos, Carnitas, Tacos… it’s all bueno. Cooked up in authentic Mexican tradition and served by smiling friendly brown faces.

Sorry, but the fish taco was very mediocre and the ceviche tostada was sub par. No free tortilla chips either. This place sucks and have crying kids. Pass, next.
