There is absolutely no beach here at high tide, take note! People opt to hang out on The stairs and it can get crowded as this seems to be a popular place for people to bring their lunch. There was a couple making out here when I came with my kid. That was gross. Also, lots of dogs, none of which are on leashes. Contrary to other posts this is not a good place to bring children unless the tide is very low. We sat on the rocks until the tide went out(the people made out for like 2 hour, cmon!!) and we had a nice walk down the beach when the tide was low enough. That was amazing and worth the low tide wait. Not really worth the hassle overall I would say. Probably not going back here.

Review 25 Hammonds Beach the larger and what I call the«locals Beach» is very nice. I prefer the next smaller beach south of there(end of Eucalyptus) for its rocks and less popularity. The beach is protected and mostly ankle waves are to be expected. The beach is kid friendly for its slow sloping terrain, I felt very comfortable letting my kids play in the ocean. Stop by at this little corner next time you’re in the area. Parking is less than 30 yards from the beach and you’ll always find parking. Watch for kids please! Plan B.

Beautiful, secluded, quiet, clean… Come early. What can I say about this spot? It’s lovely… Always friendly people with their friendly dogs on the beach. I have never seen a rough crowd here, thankfully. Lots of sea life to explore on the rocks. There is a small parking lot at the end of San Ysidro. If you come early you are almost guaranteed a spot. If not, there is plenty of street parking past the train tracks. Two entrances to the beach. Straight down the stairway or you can choose the short trail to the right of the parking lot that cuts through the homes on the beach. The trail is easier especially if you have small children

This small beach area is well known among locals and is a nice quiet seperate little area at the beach. Although it amounts to a small area inbetween the front edges of 2 beach front homes, it does meet up with the adjacent beaches, but it’s beautiful, quaint and ive enjoyed the few times I’ve spent a few hours here with my wife and daughter.

Very pretty and quiet. My new favorite spot! I always feel like the beach is all to myself. Perfect for a family picnic… I do wish people leashed their dogs.
