Insulting establishment. I’ve never seen someone give less of a s*** about his job than the kid that made my Modena Supreme. Prosciutto was a horrid deep purple color laden with ribbons of gristle. The bread had to be at least 5 days old, judging by the gardening foam-like consistency. I genuinely cannot believe this place employs the people it does, let alone exists at all. The degree of culinary neglect present in the staff is unprecedented. Learn to make a f****** sandwich, and maybe put some pride into the occupation you’ve chosen for yourself.

Not too pleased with my sandwich I ordered. It was put together very sloppily. Veggies tasted a bit old and they put tons of mayo on it. Half of the condaments fell out as I started to bite into it. Ugh

Great local market with a great selection of grocery and prepared items. Omelette, potatoes and gf raisin toast were just ok.

I have to say the quality has gone way down! Every time I go in there to buy anything, the expiration on the item has expired! Whole Foods or Lazy Acres is less expensive than here! Quality is bad! I wouldn’t recommend it to anybody!

Lots of yummy choices! But don’t get the breakfast burrito — it said it had Italian sausage in it but it was fucking ham! Ew

Ordered the state st sando. It comes with cheap supermarket bread. What a shame. You would think a speciality market in this cool location would have decent sandwich’s. Overpriced too

Been coming here for years. We live in Texas. Prices are higher than what we are used to. Great selection of freshly made foods.

Excellent variety, from the wine selection to a large number of delicious coffees, to tasty sandwiches. We chose from the wine selection for a bottle to bring to dinner. Before hitting the road we made delicious coffees and ordered tasty sandwiches to go.

I love this lil spot. I have eaten a lot of sammies from here and I don’t think I have ever had a bad one. They are fresh and made to order and always a sure thing. They are not cheap, but they are big, definitely good for sharing, unless you are really hungry, then you could probably eat the whole thing.

Came here like two years ago, got some sort of burrito and spit it out it was so gross. Just came back for the first time since and it hasn’t improved at all. All of the deli salads and especially the fruit salads are not at all fresh. Ended up trying chicken breast and cheddar on a wheat pita from the deli… The chicken was inedible. I’m not usually a complainer but I showed it to a worker who agreed that it was not good but didn’t offer me a refund. I’m not one to ask, just felt like it should have been offered.

For a corner market they have a decent selection of beer & wine. The deli is okay. I will stop here in a pinch but otherwise I will go to whole foods because they are actually less expensive. I stopped in there today for a kombucha, they wanted $ 5.99. I had to pass, plus the line was super long with one checker.

Great food at the deli or pre-packaged. Downside is the line, despite having 2 registers with only one usually open takes longer then it would to eat the food you are buying for linch

What Tino’s is to the submarine sandwich Cantwell’s is to the deli burrito. I can’t count how many I’ve eaten over the years. I still love the basic beans and rice with salsa. I wouldn’t touch something this plain anywhere else but they make it sing here. No it’s not the cheapest but what is in Santa Barbara anymore? . I often pop in here while waiting down the street at my doctor’s office for a Hansen’s soda. I didn’t even know they made so many flavors and that was growing up with health food freak hippies all around me. They are around a dollar ten after CRV. Not bad at all. It’s kept clean and usually lines are short with effective checkers.

Love Cantwell’s! So clean and so many awesome & healthy food choices! The wine selection is great & I love the descriptions they have! Great spot to dash into when you need to grab a bottle to bring with you to a friends! Everyone is super pleasant & helpful as well! As for a secret SB gem… the Consignment store behind is my all time favorite in Santa Barbara!!! Pop in and visit Skye and Carla and you won’t want to leave! They are amazing!

Not happy at all. This place USED to be great! Now the sandwiches are mediocre, expensive and the wait is ridiculous! I waited 30 mins for 1.5 sandwiches. There was nobody in front of me but my order got shoved to the end somehow. NOTKIDFRIENDLY at all!!! Everyone was giving me and my kids dirty looks, theres no boosters or highchairs so I couldn’t eat there, and the carts do not have seats for baby’s. The prices on the groceries are crazy! A travel size pack of diapers $ 18.99 are u joking??? I ordered an Italian sub and they used spicy mustard instead of what I clearly marked yellow mustard. And I despise spicy mustard. $ 9.00 My kid ordered a ½ pita ham & cheese. One slice of ham & cheese &3 large pieces of lettuce. $ 5.00 3 drinks plus the above was $ 20.xx Very disappointed! Wont be back.

Stood at La Quinta Inn for a week and this place was across the street which can be a great location for a quick lunch. Sandwiches were nothing extraordinary, a bit overpriced for the quality. I had to write this review because, yesterday we ordered a sandwich with a side salad. The sandwich was good, but when I bit into the salad cherry tomatoes I bit into FROZEN icy tomato… I cut them all n half and they were all frozen, yuk! Not only that it seems like they froze them right before they started going bad… If they charge so much for their food, it makes no sense why wouldn’t serve fresh food to their customers. I think we will look for another location for a quick lunch.

Cantwells Santa Barbara. I went in for produce, chips and salsa, fake meat, and beer. The produce section was allright, but slim pickings(not sure if they had too many organic options) They didn’t have garlic, though. The beer was a little overpriced so I said nothankyou to that. After doing my shopping, I stood at the register to find that I could not use my food stamps/EBT at this grocery establishment. I wonder why that is? My friend who grew up in Santa Barbara says that cantwells has been serving the community well for the past 30 years at least! I believe him, and I also hope they will consider upgrading their service and start accepting EBT cards.

Really nice market with a great selection. Highly recommend the breakfast burritos. They’re ridiculously good but I doubt I could finish one by myself. Great place to grab a quick bite. Probably not great for groups of more than two due to limited seating, but what more can you expect from a corner market?

I have never been inspired to write a review before, but I just had the worlds worst expensive sandwich. Granted I did opt for the gluten free bread on my own. Huge mistake. It was in crumbles by the time I opened the paper and tasted like sandy cardboard. the sandwich completely fell apart and the ingredients had absolutely no flavor and there was a lopsided pile of meat on one side and none on the other. Everything in the deli looks like it was marked up by a money mongering meanie as well.
