Played as a twosome in January. Got a Saturday mid-morning time through for $ 41, cart included. Not bad for Southern California on a weekend. When we showed up, we were given a ticket good for a hot dog and soda. The pro shop is not much more than a place for the starter to sit, but the bar is inviting. The course was just in OK shape, but it was the dead of winter. The fairways were spotty, the bunkers were inconsistent and the greens were a little scruffy. Willowick plays to a par of 71. The layout is actually pretty good. The course is compact, but the fairways are accommodating. There are a lot of mature trees and good mix of short and long holes. Watch out for the large bunkers that front many greens. Also, the cart paths were either non-existent, or very rough. Don’t try to speed or you’ll rattle your teeth. We never saw a marshal, but the pace of play was good. We finished in around 4:15. Show me another course in Southern California where you can do that on a Saturday morning! Overall, Willowick is a decent place to play and we’ll probably be back sometime.

Ok played there on this past Monday for my bday. Now I have been playing here for years off and on but it’s been awhile. Let me tell you it looks like they have not spent 5 minutes on doing anything to this place. The fairways are horrible. Hitting off twigs. The only thing alive there is the squirrels. All the trees are dead. The grass is dead. The greens are bad. Everything is bad and there is no way they should charge what they are charging.

Eh. That’s the best way to describe the course. Was way too wet on the fairways. Greens were in bad shape. Not the worst course ever but not really worth your time.

This course is just ok. A couple of long par 5s and few short par 3s. I have played here about 10 times and it’s nothing spectacular. Greens are not maintained that well and the tee boxes could use some TLC. The fairways are wide open but the tee boxes are stacked next to one another. Neighborhood is sketchy. I’m ok with it bc reminds me of my childhood neighborhood. Sometimes there are a some teens/kids loitering on the course, smoking weed, drinking, or hanging by the restroom. Watch your stuff in the cart, no joke. We usually come to this place for deals on scramble tourneys with about 20 players. Round comes with soft drink and hot dog. The guy running the pro shop has been real grumpy last few times we have been there. More like a you know what. Not sure if we will be back. Prepare to play a long round. Happy golfing!

Condition: 2 stars I played in a tournament here today and the golf course is in terrible condition. I guess it isn’t as bad as some courses, however it certainly isn’t anywhere close to nice. The fairways are either overgrown or bare, the greens are extremely soft as if mud were under the grass, and most of the tee boxes have long, inconsistent grass. Luckily I didn’t have to find out the quality of their sand today. Most of the holes are caved in and the rough around the greens is so thick you’re lucky to get it anywhere close. Layout: 4 stars I’m actually a huge fan of the layout of this course. If it were nicer, I might play here. It’s pretty wide open off the tee, but you can still get into quite a bit of trouble. I think that this course provides a good challenge, especially their greens and around them. Some of the greens seemed impossible but I made putts on them. Pro shop: 3 stars Friendly staff but pretty bare in terms of what they have– tees, balls, not many clothes, cheap sunglasses, and scant equipment. Snack bar: 4 stars Good hot dog today and good drink. I suspect they have pretty solid food.

Horrible course. Lots of dirt. Grass in sand traps. Terrible greens. Most of all asshole people that work there. BOTH of our carts died and they didn’t care one bit. Would recommend golfing at a regular park over this shit hole.

Played here a few weeks ago and it’s fair for the price, but we were backed up before teeing off. By the second tee box, we were three groups deep. Tee boxes, fairways, and greens are in good shape, but the course could use some work. We were waiting on the group in front of us when a dead branch fell from the tree and landed on the tee box next to us. In addition, trash is blown up on the fences in a few areas. The course superintendent should look into the locals meandering on the course as we waited a few times for people to cross the fairway(and cross slowly).

Great bang for the buck. Fun and forgiving on the fairways with lots of 500+ yard holes. Challenging bunkers. Good pace of play, far better then meadowlark pace. Course is in okay condition but I’m not a PGA golfer. Clean fairways, greens don’t break much. Killer hot dogs too.

I am really not a fan of this golf course. It’s not the prettiest course in town and pretty expensive at $ 26 for the back 9 holes only. I’ve played here twice and just never got that relaxing and pleasant feeling that golf provides for me. The fairways are wide but the layout is not that great. The greens and fairways aren’t in the best condition either. I love all the big trees that separate these wide fairways but the views outside of the golf course makes you feel like you are at recess in elementary school in the middle of a sketchy neighborhood. Also, had breakfast here and was devastated by the quality of food and service. We were literally the only people sitting at the table and the 1 lady that was working there did not even get to us until about 10min after we sat down. Are you kidding me? Horrible Customer Service. On the plus side the pace of play is pretty fast. They do a decent job scheduling tee times but that’s about the only positive thing I can say about this course And the food was average but cheap. All in all, this is a decent course but for the money, I would prefer to play elsewhere.

I really love this track, but unfortunately, it is always so busy. 5 hr plus round is too long for me. If you book a foursome on-line, a single can still book onto your time. They add singles to your foursomes. Not cool. Threesome is understandable. Further, we booked a foursome, all of us riding, and they tacked on a single guy… walking! As I said, I really love this track, and the service is impeccable, but it just takes too long to finish a round. I can’t get a rhythm going and my scores suffer. They can’t be hurting for business if it’s so busy all the time!!!

We purchased a Group Golfer voucher for Willowick and came here last weekend. It was our first time here, and it was easy to find parking and check-in with the front desk. The course is poorly designed. When someone yells«FORE» you have no idea which direction it’s coming from. There were multiple instances where balls flew right past our face or right next to us. It’s a very dangerous course! Each hole is lined up towards another hole and when you’re playing forward, someone else is playing towards you on the other side with very few feet or dividers in between. We couldn’t even complete the full course because it was such a terrible course. I’ll stick with other courses!

It’s gotten ever better since the last time I played here… Well… by better I mean the carts now have GPS! How awesome is that? The local Santa Ana Muni has GPS enabled golf carts to help better plan all your shots. While this didn’t turn me into Tiger by any means, it certainly took a lot of the guess work out of my game. Go early in the morning and you can pretty much just walk on at any time you choose during the week. Tee times are still always the preferred method to book but the starter seemed good with either. I look forward to coming back here soon.

I play Willowick once a month, every month. It’s a regulation length course with NO water hazards. The fairways are wide and there is plenty of room between the trees. Sounds pretty easy, right? Just don’t get stuck behind one of the trees, they are mature and large. This courses’ main defense are the bunkers INFRONTOFTHEGREENS. Some have 6 or 7 foot faces. Some golfers can only escape sideways(especially on hole #8). As a rule the course is in very good shape. During wet months it gets soggy(I suspect it does not drain well), otherwise there is nothing to complain about here. Well, one complaint: they don’t run a beverage cart anymore. As hot as Santa Ana can get that would be a welcome relief.

Lots of negative reviews here but I have played this course 20 times of so over the last 10 years and it is always in pretty good shape. Yeah yeah the neighborhood is not the best but I have never had a problem. Miss the days when this course was FREE on Christmas, first come first serve. Weekend play is slow but every course in OC under $ 50 is slow on the weekend so if you want a 4−½ hr round go pay $ 100 or drive 50 miles. I have learned to accept the slow play on Saturday or Sunday. Will be back and will also keep buying the deal on

This course is the first time I’ve ever shot a double bogey free round! whoopee! felt really good. but the course was an easy course… haha. but still, it’s a huge accomplishment in the progress of my game. watch out for the squirrels grabbing your food. and keep your ears open for the fours! teeboxes are located in dangerous positions. a buddy of mine got hit by a ball. fortunately a bouncing ball, but still… you could go to this course and end up in the hospital instead.

I like this place because it’s chill, but there are too many older people that play here. And the walkers are typically older Asian people who are slow. The back nine, you’re basically in the ghetto of Santa Ana Huey, you get all the lacocoracha music you can stand. And since it is kinda like links style you’re friggin balls get jacked because obviously we’re amateurs and not always in the fairway so it crosses into the next fairway. a. Course is usually in descent condition, but not the best. Greens are cool. When you call in for a tee time on the weekends don’t expect to go out for at least 20 – 30 mins after the fact.

so 2.5 really, but I’ll go on the high end here. Outdated course and pro shop. Greens and Fairways both need a lot of TLC. course is playable. Some of the hole placements are a little tricky. The main issue with the course layout is the placement of the Teeboxes. Some of the boxes are directly adjacent to the green from the prior hole, making it both dangerous while you are teeing off and annoying if the group behind you is putting. Good Bar/restaurant. Good golf carts with GPS. Neighborhood is not really an issue once you are on the course. Grass driving range is a plus, I really hate the mats. I played it on a Amazon local special and for roughly $ 25, I got my money’s worth.

Okay Unilocal, you totally freaked us out. The reviews here talked so much about the sketchy neighborhood surrounding the course. We got psyched for the worst. In reality, the course isn’t in the best place but it wasn’t too bad. My teen was playing in an SCPGA tourney. I figured that they wouldn’t throw a bunch of kids some place that was so bad. The course was in just so/so condition. Would I let my teen go out alone? No. Adults should be just fine.

So a group of friends and I decide that we would play here because one of my friends has a discount book for lowered rates. Great! Tee time was set to 10:40AM and we get there at 10:15 and walk into the pro shop to check in and well no one was in there. I waited about 20 minutes before someone came in to check us in. As we were checking in the person was giving us some major attitude. Started telling us that we couldn’t play till 11 because our discount cards don’t apply till 11AM. Well then why would we be given a 10:40AM tee time? I purchase a few balls for the round and he says to me, «You need balls to? You could have put it with your green fees.» … sorry? Then he tells us, «Well get on the green because you’re next.» I was quite taken back by such disrespect to a customer especially at a golf course. Anyway, onto the play. The course is pretty easy, a few nice long par 5s and a few tricky legs; nonetheless, a great course to take your beginner to intermediate buddies. Tee boxes aren’t the best maintained, but you really can’t expect much more from a municipal course. I would give the course a 3 – 4 star rating; however, with the morning starting off the way it did in the pro shop I really can’t. Even if it is a municipal course, I expect some level of respect from a fellow golfer. This is a game of golf, show some class.
