Tacos de birria and shrimp tacos are bomblicious!!! The agaus frescas and homemade raspados are very good! I was there last night for the first time, and most definitely keep coming. Their service is great. I definitely recommend these guys when you are craving real homemade tacos de birria and drinks!

Possibly the worst torta I have ever tasted. I ordered a «mexicana» which consists of carne asada and chorizo. Got home, took a bite… whoa whoa whoa!!! Whats that awful taste? Look inside, the chorizo is completely burnt! Totally took away from any other taste that might have been between the bread, it was just beyond awful. I will never step inside this place again.

Had their Tortaloca which comes with pork shoulder, cheese and of course filled with avocado. Pork is a bit dry but I imagine it’s intentional as you have to try their salsas(avocado sauce, red, orange and green salsas) and it simply makes it better. Been here a few times already and it’s gotta be the best torta in town.

Was looking for some bionic implants and I decided to stop in here. I really wanted an eye that can see far away, and a right arm that punches harder than Conor McGregor. Turns out that«bionicos» are actually fruity desserts that were invented in Guadalajara. Oh, and they have tortas. Nice. I hadn’t yet found an equal to the«muy torta» from my fav spot in West LA, but I decided to try one from here: the Cubana. For about $ 8, I received the most massive torta I’ve seen in a long time. This thing was grande. When I sunk my teeth into the massive sandwich, my tongue exploded with several taste sensations. Added in a bit of the guacamole salsa and it was the perfect complement. At the end of it my belly was full, so I didn’t get a chance to try the bionicos. Next time…

Was searching for some authentic mangoneadas and stumbled across this place. The location is horrible but my friend and I decided to try it nonetheless We both ordered the mango flavor with extra Chaca Chacas(the little tamarindo candies on top) If you like chile flavored Mexican candy you will love this! I wouldn’t say it was the best I’ve tried but it was pretty darn close

Been on a mexican torta binge lately and this places’ chicken torta definitely did no justice to the mexican staple. The chicken was tough, thin, and dry. The amount of beans was so minimal, it was almost non existent. They filled up the torta with mostly iceberg lettuce, which just imagine biting into a head of iceberg… Pretty flavorless. Not worth the price or trip for a torta.

This place is a great spot for lunch. The food is delicious and it’s inexpensive. We got the esquite which is a cup of street corn and very tasty. The pepinos which are stuffed cucumbers and carne asada and pastor tacos. All of the things we ordered were unique and delicious. Service was friendly and very fast. I will definitely be returning :)

My husband suggested we go try this place today, and so glad we did! This place has a lot of food choices and they all sound sooo good. I had an esquite cup and it was delicious, spicy and seasoned just right. I ordered a pepino raspado that wasn’t overly sweet and it had the pepinos with the chamoy and peanuts in it. Makes me want another one just typing this. The hubby had a shrimp, bacon and cheese taco that came with some grilled onions and chiles on the side. YUM. He also got the Sandia loca. WHOA! That thing is HUGE. $ 20 and it came with half a watermelon filled on the inside with chunks of watermelon, a whole mango with chamoy and Chile on a stick, jicama sticks with chile, three of those stuffed pepinos and pineapple slices too. The staff was friendly which was a plus. I want to go back tomorrow for the mangoneada and another esquite cup!

Expansive menu including esquite, tacos($ 1.69 each), tortas, platters, and lots of drink options(we got the mango specialty drink and it was HUGE; this was recommended to us over the mangonada). I had 2 pastor tacos and the meat was well cooked and full of flavor. I had a bite of the esquite and it was delicious. My cousin also got the Cuban Nice torta and it looked really good and was so big she took the other half home for later. Food came out quickly, and service was fine. I’m not in the area too often, but this is a great lunch spot if you are!

Wow! I think I just found a new spot for tortas! Had the Mexicana and was not disappointing. The combination of asada and chorizo was just flavorful. Tried all of their salsas in the mini salsa bar and my favorite was the avocado one. Just went well with the torta I was enjoying. I’m definitely coming back as I need to try the other awesome items on their menu(birria tacos are up next on my radar).

I’ve seen this place many times driving by and thought I’d stop by today to buy an agua fresca. Boy, they have a «nice» lunch menu. To my pleasant surprise, there was a poster with«tacos de birria» which looked good, so I ordered my agua and a taco. Oh My Gosshhh! This was one of the best birria tacos I’ve ever had. The outside tortilla was grilled to a nice crisp, and the inside tortilla was soft. The flavor of the birria was on point! YUMMMM Will definitely go back again for more tacos and then a torta Cubana.

I have to admit, I don’t think I have ever had a Torta before(blasphemy!). I came here for the Mangoneada and the Esquite, the torta was just a big plus! Located in a small business plaza, you would think that it would be one of the little hole in the wall shops — it’s not. It’s the sloped ceiling blue/orange looking hut to the side. Inside is filled with bright photographs of all their food and and fruity concoctions that make you feel like you’re closer to the beach than you are. Chicken Torta($ 5.99) The photo of this on the menu is misleading — these are huge! Boyfriend ate half and took the other half home. Filled with chicken, veggies, avocado, delicious. I personally really enjoyed my first(or first time that I realized I was eating one) torta. Mangoneada($ 3.49) A small is more than enough and filled with mango chamoy goodness. Personally, I would have loved if there was more blended mango in it to balance out the spicy tangy chamoy. Esquite($ 3.49) This comes in a bigger cup than you think too, I love sweet corn mixed with mayo, cheese, and chili. Sometimes I honestly don’t know how people can just eat corn regular or just with butter anymore. Birria Tacos(???) This was the special and suggested by the girl behind the counter. I enjoyed it, but beware the salsa is EXTRASPICY! I think the mix of the oil, side of gravy like thing, and the salsa made my stomach warm for the rest of the day. Comes with three tacos, a cup of salsa, and a side of juice/gravy that the meat was cooked in. Total came out to be about $ 21, which I think is reasonable for what we received. Would recommend for anyone craving: tortas, esquite/elote, mangoneadas, tacos, or any other Mexican treats.

Based on what my buddy Andy N. said in his review, I decided to go back and check this place out again… Torta Cubana is huge, good to share it… piled high and very filling. Not the best i had, but was pretty good. Also ordered the chicharones con cueritos and was delicious, not waiting to hit the swap meets anymore… awesome My son had the carne asada plato and he almost finished it, miraculous i say… The service was good… everyone checked on us and the food came out quicly… Only downfall was no soda fountain We will be going back to try all the tasty looking drinks… Thanks Andy

Donald Trump might think«they’re bringing drugs, they’re bringing crime» but all I think is «they’re bringing Mangonada, bionicos, and torta ahoghada». With monthly trips to my Mom being reduced to an endless loop of doctor visits and picking up medical prescriptions I seized an opportunity to sneak up to Santa Ana for a Mangoneada(sic), a favorite treat that I can’t find anywhere near my home in the Bay Area. Tortas & Bionicos«Nice» serves two sizes of Mangoneada. The«large» size is a ridiculous amount of Mangoneada for under $ 5 out the door. Seriously? This delicious, fruity-spicy-slushy thing served as breakfast and lunch. What a steal. Not as mango-filled as some versions, but super spicy and topped with the fabulously weird tamarind candy covered straw, I’d say this is one of the best deals out there.(Did I mention that I used to pay $ 9 for a smaller, albeit fruitier version in Marin? Truth). While waiting for my Mangoneada I perused and researched the menu. «Bionicos»? «Torta Ahoghada»? «Tostilocos»? «Pepinos locos»? I’d inadvertently stumbled into an outpost for iconic Guadalajaran cuisine and Mexican street food. Research it; these aren’t things found at just any taqueria and the steady stream of customers coming through the doors were evidence of the demand for what’s being served here. I was intrigued enough by their menu that I’ve an interest in coming back and sampling those unique offerings though my Mexican brother warned me that bionicos — in general — contain far too much sugar to be consumed by one person alone. Other stuff: * Located in a skeezy strip of businesses, the place looks and feels like a shuttered IHOP turned taqueria, minus any charm there ever might’ve been. * Cheaper than a trip to Guadalajara. * I’m not sure why they have«Nice»(in quotation marks) in the name of this place but it kept me entertained for about 15 minutes post-yelp check-in. Every time someone liked my check-in I’d see«Nice» appear, briefly causing me to believe that everyone knew of and approved of this place, however unlikely. For further amusement they should add«You’re Awesome» in their name; it’d probably entertain me all day. * Donald Trump is an ass.

While reading a book about local Mexican food, I came across the torta ahoghada. It appeared to be different from tortas commonly served at quick-serve eateries and street food trucks. Torta ahoghada is iconic to the state of Jalisco, more specifically the city of Guadalajara, that had me at the words«drowned sandwich». Unlike most tortas which center around the combination of meat stuffed between two pieces of a sandwich roll, the torta ahoghada consists of different fillings and is covered in a unique spicy sauce that could make or break the dish. Most of the street carts that sell torta adoghada in the Santa Ana area serve the lunch crowd and close by 6pm. Two alternatives which open later are Taqueria Guadalajara and Tortas & Bionico Nice. I rolled into Tortas & Bionico Nice at around 8:55pm. They close at 9pm but I never felt rushed. The kitchen remained open just past 9pm. About 10 minutes later, I walked out with a giant $ 6 sandwich that spanned the entire take-out box. The torta shell consisted of sweet oblong-shaped bread called birote with a crunchy exterior that reminded me of a baguette, but the interior was much softer and cushiony. The bread enclosed fried pork carnitas, melted cheese, and refried beans. Some parts of the carnitas was very tender, some pieces were dry and chunky. I liked the seasoning that appeared to be spiced with salt and pepper. The torta at «Nice» was halfway immersed in a pool of thin chile de árbol sauce. From what I’ve read, some restaurants only pour the red chili spicy sauce which is so hot that it burns the tongue. On the other hand, some places incorporate a milder sauce with tomatoes, chili peppers, and vinegar to reduce the heat level. The sauce at «Nice» was closer to the medium-mild end of the heat spectrum, but still robust and satisfying. You get best of both worlds, the slight burning sensation from the hot sauce that’s not overwhelming, and the tomato sauce to relish on the sweet and tangy flavors. Finally, the torta is topped with fixings such as sour pickled onions and lime. I don’t recommended dressing to the nines before eating the torta ahoghada because the traditional way to consume it is by holding with bare hands(just like any other sandwich). Yes, holding a soaked sandwich stuffed with slippery ingredients can be a mess, but it’s part of the experience. You’ll need a lot of napkins. I recommend consuming the torta ahoghada shortly after it is served. I relished the half I ate, but after I revisited the other half several hours later, the bread became mushy and unremarkable because it had been completely saturated with sauce.
