Narrow lanes, so use a basket instead of a cart. Seems to me like people come here for the butcher and the produce. Otherwise the selection is dismally limited. Fast check out. Lines were crazy and I still didn’t wait longer than 5 min. Takes card. Tight parking that gets backed up on 17th. Skip the waiting and enter the parking lot from Aloha St.

I love the seasoned pollo and carne asada! The guac is to die for as well, especially if the lady is there making it fresh! Only downside… The servers in meat dept, were rude to me because my Spanish was as good as there’s. So they kind of were quick with me and wouldn’t look at me. I still go back because the meat is seasoned perfectly!!!

You want good quality, but inexpensive produce? This is your place. 3 bunches of parsley or cilantro? 99 cents. Persimmons, 89 cents/2 pounds. The turnover of fruits and veggies is so rapid here, everything is super fresh. Mexican pastries your thing? $ 2 for any five. The same amount at 85 degrees costs you $ 10.(Yes, they’re not strictly comparable. I’m just providing a reference point.). There is a meat, fish and deli counter, but we only buy the queso fresco. Be sure to grab a number. The fresh tortillas are warm and cheap. Get a pack of 50 for what you normally pay for 10. The place is small. Go in the mud-afternoon to avoid crowds. And, yes, they speak ingles.

I work at the hospital here close by… we go to Northgate a lot to buy Mexican candy and cakes when ever it’s someone birthday… Everytime we go there we get this rude ass cashier name Adriana! She is so annoying and unprofessional! She sit there chatting with the other checker gossiping about her personal business… you asked her where is something located and she points in the air… I told her I don’t know where you are pointing too. then she says«you don’t see it»” you don’t see it” «it’s right there shouting». I shouted back at her and told her I am not your dog to go fetch something! She rolled her eyes and threw the stuff I purchased on the check stand! This girl is useless! I don’t how this girl is able to hold down a job there. I told everyone at the hospital what happened there… they lost our business there… we won’t come back.

This market is a joke. I used to buy at northgate Infront of Walmart on harbor and everything was great but this store in particular is just so not up to standard. I have purchased meats here and I alway feel happy because I got a good deal. However as soon as I get home. Godddd. My chicken won’t last two days uncooked. I have to cook it the same day or it will go bad. Veggies are also the same. I decided to stay away from those foods and thought I’d buy other goods. It’s been a few times that I buy loafs of bread and same thing. Just today I bought a loaf of bread today for breakfast and right out of the box it had mold. Maybe if their costumer service was good I would try to look the other way but their lines are long. Cashiers are very unprofessional and rude. And the place doesn’t look that well organized. Very bad place. I now buy at stater bros and buy my meats there and at el faro down the street

I love myself some. Mexican food. The cash register lines are ALWAYS sooo long. I don’t think they care about service and I always get mean looks there. Maybe cause I’m Asian lol I mean, I had to say it… Butchers are nice though but it would help if they translated the numbers for the next customer cause I’m always just standing there clueless waiting for my order.

Some food has to be cooked with lard. What’s not to like about crispy carnitas, gloriously delicious tamales, and heavenly beans? If people have a visceral reaction to lard, they should put down their donuts and Boba drinks and ice cream and Starbucks and cheeseburgers and pizzas and … get real for a minute. My Signora makes Mexican food virtually every day and night, and none of it resembles the gunk you get at most Mexican places. Lot of vegetables, beans(flor de junio are magnificent), chilies of course, and fruit. And we get most everything at Northgate. I never thought I would find a cuisine I liked better than Italian. And once in a while, carnitas, tamales y frijoles cooked in lard. Don’t turn up your nose at lard. You don’t look so good when you do that.

My mother & my aunt come here very often. Employees are nice and help direct you to the right aisle. It is smaller that the usual but it is busy and has just about everything that North Gate has just in smaller quantities. Just don’t try going in at 9:30pm becasue they close at 10pm & close the doors at that time.

This Gonzalez market is smaller compared to the other ones. Even the parking is a pain, It doesn’t carry as much stuff as the other markets. But it is till a good place to go to when you need your Hispanic groceries.

This particular market is very close by where I work and somewhat close to the place where I live. I have been shopping here on and off for many, many years. I have been a client of Northgate for good 12 years in several other locations. What I like about this particular one is the fact that they have aguas frescas and champurrado aviable during the day. I stopped for some delicious champurrado on my way to work this morning and I was surprised that it was open, and fully functional. There are times when I don’t know what to eat, well, I eat here. They have a kitchen and I always get some carnitas, some cheese and refried beans. I know, a good day a good day. A couple of downers about this place are the parking lot. You really, really have to fight for a parking lot. It is a very popular intersection so, you will find kids that park there from Santa Ana College plus regular clients plus staff in the same little parking lot. Another downer is the size. It is a very small store for the amount of people they serve, it is extreamly crowded. When busy, you would stand in line good 15 – 20 minutes, I know that sounds exagerated but I am 100% honest. Also, when busy, the staff could get a little touchy and not greet, smile etc. Ok prices, conviniently located for me, have to put up with long lines and sometimes rude staff, 3/5, Thanks for reading

They have an awesome Panderia Department. I am coming here to buy cakes for special events. For $ 13.99 you can give someone a great tasting Tres Leches cake. If you ask nicely they may make you a fresh out of the oven cake in 15 minutes. The store is run very well even on Saturdays when every family comes over to this location to do groceries. Everything is organized and easy to find. Aisles are reasonably kept clean even when some random kids are running around like it was Chuck E Cheese. They sell PEPSI in glass bottles from Mexico. Jarrittos here goes on sale often

The aisles are really over crowded and hard to walk through. They have a good and reasonably priced meat market. Also, they sell sweet bread/pan dulce. Which I have not tried myself, but it looks good. I came here today because I wanted some chili powder. But not the kind that’s actually called chili powder. One, that is called pico de gallo and is used as a seasoning to add to jicama, cucumbers, oranges, pineapple, watermelon, and whatever else you’d like to mix in to your savory fruit salad. I have yet to see the pico de gallo chili powder at any other supermarket. So if you’d like some, you’ll find it here and it’s in the produce section. Another thing I bought here today were tostadas. I usually buy the Guerrero brand at Ralphs, but the Northgate brand has a much better taste. I’ve had better tostadas from Cardenas in Fontana(my older sister shops there) but these will have to do for now. They have a salty taste to them and are so much better than the other brands they sell at Albertsons and Ralphs. I definitely recommend them.
