Nice authentic Mexican food. The restaurant is small and cozy. I had the best shrimp fajitas with homemade tortillas! Also, the margaritas are delicious and it is easy to have more than one. Nice staff and prompt.

OMG! I keep shaking my head. Unbelievable, incredible, exceptionally excellent! Been here twice and equally outstanding each time. The chefs are great and the flavors superb. I have had the Cornish game hen and the carnitas. Both are GREAT! Nancy has had the ceviche and the chicken mole(red, but they have green). I don’t like mole as much as Nancy but this was the best either of us have ever had. The service is great — thanks Frank and Frank Jr. The place is small but beautifully decorated. It’s a purely excellent mexican restaurant. Visit — you’ll love it.

Homemade tortillas and amazing menudo! Authentic Mexican food. We come here at least once a week. Service is always great and food is always on point. Even when we order To-go. The salsa’s are also yummy. Definitely hits the spot everytime. Parking can be kinda hard due to the dispensary next door :/

Might be one of the best Mexican food restaurants in Santa Ana. Eaten here several times. Great tasting food. Portions are large. Seems like somebody’s wonderful abuelita is working in that kitchen and dishing up sunshine, aromas and happy memories from some far away place. You will not be disappointed with these flavors. I leave happy and satisfied. But I will be back.

Awesome little spot. Feels like a home and great service. Had chilaquiles and they were perfect. The salsa for the chips is really good as well.

I only come here for one thing, Menudo! Ever since I first tasted it it captivated me. So fresh, clean, and well prepared with just the right spices and fresh meat. Add to that some bomb tamarindo and home made tortillas and its a party. The portions are huge and don’t plan on eating the rest of the day. In a predominantly hispanic city with 1000′‘s of Mexican restaurants to choose from I am happy to say they keep it real. Come on by and check it out!

So nobody in the office decided to eat breakfast at home like the American Medical Assoc has recommended(go figure) so the boss decided to buy everyone breakfast. Called in our 6 orders, they said 20 minutes. Not bad for made from scratch breakfast. I ordered the red chilaquiles with 2 eggs sunny side up and a piece of carne asada on top. Showed up 20 min after call, they were wrapping up the order. I have to tell you, for tortillas made by hand, that is not a bad timetable. So get back to the office and everyone dives for their food. I sit at my desk and open up my to go box. Breakfast heaven!!! The chilaquiles were just right, with red sauce that did not drench them. I have issues with heartburn, which is why I usually stay away from chilaquiles in the first place. These had a spice to them, but not my mouth is on fire spice. Just right. The eggs were sunny side up with the yolk able to run on my sweet chilaquiles. And the carne asada has a nice brown edge to them. Not burned but just right. They add queso fresco and sour cream. And finish off the plate with rice and beans. Overall I was very happy with my breakfast. Definitely what I ordered and it did not disappoint. I would say a good place to stop by if you are in the area.

My first time at Mary’s restaurant and it was such a treat. Delicious food, great and fast service. We had the caldo albondigas with homemade tortillas and the barbacoa burrito. They were both super yummy. The inside of the restaurant was beautifully decorated and had such wonderful ambiance. It was a much needed stop on a hot day. I highly recommend a trip to Mary’s.

Well, my family visited here on vacation. .We had a certificate I bought on . We had chips with hot sauce. It was alright, but very liquid not chunky at all. Our server was extremely kind. But…we had shrimp ceveche for an appetizer It was warm and had a curly black hair in it. Got grossed out and asked where the inspection grade was for their restaurant. .NOINSPECTIONGRADEATALL. I would not recommend this restaurant at all. We kindly left without eating or meals. We were scared to eat the sea food..

This place rocks. Walked in for a michelado and a breakfast burrito and man, what a great experience! The food is flavorful and filling but not heavy. It’s incredible how many great salsas or waiter brought out. Hand carved chairs and decorations.

4.5 because of the great service. The carnitas that my wife ordered were the winner. Too good with the handmade tortillas and fresh salsas. I had the chile rellenos in cream sauce which were good too. Wouldn’t go cream sauce next time. Wayyyyy too much cream. Enjoyed a michelada while housing the chips, salsa, and beans(need to ask for them). Will be back often.

let me start by saying this restaurant is amazing. I have eaten here twice now and both times frank was my life saver. He is a pro about the menu and what options there are. You can tell the passion he has and feels for this place. Forget the menu, tell him what you are looking for and he will find a solution. I modify everything and it’s refreshing to go to a place that doesn’t look at me like I’m an inconvenience. The chorizo is made in house as well as the tortillas. This is the kind of food that fills your stomach and your soul. The refried beans are perfect. You can really tell that the people who own this place cook with love and from the heart nothing is skimpy or fake everything is authentic like they are feeding their family and you end up feeling like a guest in their home. I never want to leave!

Came in for Father’s Day breakfast, confident from our couple of visits last year that we’d get authentic, freshly-prepared Mexican cooking. We were right. You’ll get friendly service from the get-go, and Mary’s has a warm, cozy atmosphere. Everyone at the surrounding tables looked as happy as we were soon to be. Chips, salsa, and sauce were perfect… chips perfectly crisp and salty; both the mild red and spicier salsas are so flavorful. Burrito desayuno is a wonderful combination of smoky ham, eggs, beans, and rice that satisfied the picky eater in our party, and the tortilla was steaming fresh and delicious. I had my favorite… huevos divorciados, which is the perfect choice if you’re indecisive… I’m not, well… my family thinks I am… maybe they’re right… ;) In any case, not deciding gets you the tangy, tomatillo green sauce with one egg cooked to your liking and served on fresh corn tortilla, while the other egg is complemented by traditional red sauce. Our third breakfaster had original huevos rancheros, and seconded my opinion… eggs cooked to perfection and sauce that leaves your mouth watering for more. The arroz y friloj con queso that accompanied our egg dishes could be a meal in themselves. Muy sabrosa! Even the beverages are authentic, and my fellow diners got their fix… Coke with REAL sugar, the way it’s always been made in Mexico. Which is where you’ll feel you are at Mary’s…at your good friends’ house in Mexico, and, wow, can your friends cook!

I’ve been coming here for several years now and it’s one of my top 10 favorite Mexican restaurants to eat at for many reasons. First, it’s like eating at a Mexican grandma’s house. Everything is made fresh to order. Homemade tortillas. Tasty salsa. Just about everything I’ve tried here is pretty darn good. Second, it’s not just any kind of Mexican food. It’s authentic Michoacan style. If you don’t know then you must come in and try it for yourself. Michoacan is well known for their tasty food which, in my opinion, is what most Mexican food should aspire to be like. Michoacan put this food on the map — carnitas, chile rellenos, morisqueta, taquitos, enchiladas, tamales, posole, birria, churipo. Mary’s doesn’t serve all of this, but they do have some great menu items. Some others not so great, in my personal preference. Don’t order the enchiladas, they’re dry. Mary’s makes great mole, enmoladas(enchiladas in mole sauce), carnitas tacos, chilaquiles(order with chicken breast & eggs — either red or green sauce, you can’t go wrong), chile rellenos(try with cream sauce), morisqueta divorciada(with half red and half green chile). And special mention goes to their ceviche tostada with shrimp. Third, their prices are very reasonable. And you get a lot of food for the money, so it’s a good value. Service is usually good but sometimes it can be a little on the slow side — not a big deal if you just communicate with them and tell them if you’re in a hurry, and they’ll speed things up for you. Fourth, the chips and salsa is served with beans. Well, just recently they stopped serving unless you ask, so just request beans with the chips and salsa and follow the 3-step chip dipping procedure: 1. Dip chip into beans 2. Spoon some of the bright red-orange thick salsa on top 3. Spoon some of the darker thinner salsa on top of that… …and enjoy filling up on killer chips, beans, and salsa. Just don’t eat so much that you can’t finish eating all your food. And fifth, do yourself a favor and order desert. Try the rompompe — it’s eggnog like with jello and some kind of alcohol — it’s sooo goood! Provecho!

Saturday morning and woke up with a serious hankering for Chilaquiles. Why? I have no clue other than how delicious they are. Maybe Food Channel was left on all night and it Inception-ed me? But I’m glad it /they did. Chilaquiles — Perfectly sliced asada strips left a nice texture with the chips and green sauce. They slice is maybe half as thick as traditional carne asada so it’s not as heavy a bite. The beans and everything on this plate made beautiful music. Look at the picture I took and that other picture(salsa on a spoon) was really REALLY good. Queso Fundido — Seen it on the menu and had to get it… didn’t regret it one bit. Little heavy for breakfast but come on… gotta do it. If you don’t know what it is… order it and you’ll love it. It’s like a DIY(do it yourself) quesadilla. They queso comes on a hot plate with your choice of meat infused into the cheese and you spoon it onto your hot tortilla or in my case i just grab it /wipe it or dump it on mine and go at it. Pretty good little spot. I recommend it to anyone that loves a nice food coma.
