I’ve been going here for years and I need to go here more often. Best oysters on the island. Always smiling and very attentive friendly service. Love the Lazy.

The hostess wasn’t very friendly, the waitress wasn’t very knowledgeable about portion sizes. That waitress left and we got a new one that was much better. Not a baby friendly place. The bartender was eating while tending bar and making drinks. A lady was allowed to bring a small dog, not a therapy dog, into the restaurant. The food was OK. We each ordered a bowl of clam chowder, had to eat with plastic spoons… not a good idea. We shared a combo bucket of beer steamed clams and oysters… it was OK, not seasoned very well… not worth the price. I would only recommend this place if you wanted a beer and oysters. When will restaurants, even the little ones, start using real dinnerware?

Lazy Flamingo is a decent place to have lunch when hanging out on Sanibel Island. The service is outstanding and the atmosphere is fun. The menu is pretty limited for lunch, though. Would have liked to have seen a few more options especially since there are other places on the island with a lot more variety in choices. The food we did order was good. Was surprised that the barbecue sandwich, which was a special for the day, was served with lettuce, tomato, onion and pickle instead of coleslaw. Pretty strange combination. If this is a special that continues again, they should definitely consider adding coleslaw as an option. Others in my party had a burger and had good things to say about it. The Ceasar salad was good, as well. We will definitely add Lazy Flamingo as an option when we’re visiting Sanibel again.

We overheard someone at the hotel say this was a great place so we decided to check it out. I was a little nervous when we walked in, seemed a bit dark and dingy(more like a bar), but man was the food good! The beer steamed clams were awesome. The best part had to be my Buffalo wings. I have to say, the best wings I’ve had outside the Anchor Bar! Friendly and attentive wait staff. Seriously thinking of going back tonight!

This casual stop is one we frequent during vacation. Fun, laid-back atmosphere with a small menu. We have gotten the big burger which is cooked to order. The deep fried shrimp is a nice portion with homemade cocktail sauce. My husband wasn’t excited about the ribs, he said they needed the bbq sauce to have any real flavor.

Really enjoy the mesquite grilled grouper salad and the clam chowder. Tossed some fresh oysters and cold draught. Friendly staff and great location on the island.

More like 3.5 stars. Casual place, cheap drinks, decent selection of seafood and a few others options. Skip the apps — conch fritters were funny and lacked any flavor of the sea. Same with conch chowder, which was very good just not anything resembling a seafood chowder. Served Rhode Island style(my description coming from Boston, not the official menu description), spicy. More like a gumbo… Again, could not find the pieces or flavor of conch. The grouper we ordered for the entrees more than made up for it — delicious! Staff friendly but not overly so — probably better place to eat at the bar over a few beers. I would return at some point, though not at the top of my list.

Dive bar feel with not your average dive bar food. Many beer selections to keep you coming back. 5 stars = Great oysters, divey bar atmosphere, quick service, and friendly staff. Met all of my dive bar expectations. I walked into this place and notice a seat with the placard on it that read«No-shoes Dave.» I assumed this sign was just for show to make customers feel like a local earned this seat. That was until I left the restaurant to see a man take his shoes off before stepping into the bar… guess Dave really does take his shoes off. I ordered a key lime craft brew from a local brewery to go with a dozen oysters. Beer was so good that I ordered two. Raw Oysters were fresh and tasted as if they were shucked to order… as advertised. Also had many food options for kids and apparently they have the best chicken caesar salad in the area.

Food was good. Expected more salad than just a piece of lettuce under my fish. Not a fan of coleslaw but it was surprisingly good! Got the blackened fish. It was kind of oily but you can tell the fish was fresh. We also got the grouper basket which was really good. Would get that next time when I want something fried. They also had decent deals on alcohol. Really liked the atmosphere. One of the girls in the group was a vegetarian and they didn’t have a ton of options. The one thing she ordered wasn’t available so she was stuck to getting a basket of fries. Would still come back to try other options.

Was in the area and figured I would give this place a try since it was pretty crowded & I was starving. My waitress was super nice. I ordered the buffalo shrimp for an appetizer, there were 6 of them. They shrimp were good, they were real big quality shrimp. The menu wasn’t that big & the majority of the seafood said«market price» so for my meal I ordered a chicken cesar salad, $ 14. The chicken was very good but it just seemed like the salad was lacking something, maybe I would have been more satisfied if there was more chicken included. I would not come back here but I’m glad I gave it a shot!

One of our favorite places to eat on Sanibel! Easy relaxed atmosphere and absolutely delicious food! Absolutely must get the grilled grouper basket — about the only thing I order anymore(lol)!! Tender, flaky fish, grilled to perfection and always juicy — never overdone and dry. Their tarter sauce is their own recipe and I love the freshness of dill flavor it has. Recommend going for lunch vs dinner as the crowds are a bit tough in the evenings a wait of an hour or more is common. Lunch can be an easy in and out without that hassle. Service has always been fast and pleasant. Today my husband’s blackened seasoning was a bit stronger than he liked, waitress insisted on bringing him another entire piece and then discounted the entire meal by half. Happy and repeat customers for many years!

We have been coming to the island for over 8 years now, typically 3 times a year. The restaurants on Sanibel-Captiva are not typically outstanding. We just usually chalk it up to– it’s a tourist place and people just need to eat out and it is what it is. Most times the service is mediocre but not rude. I come from the service industry and I truly am appreciative of all service– within reason. At first we walked in and wee so excited because the host staff was very attentive and polite. The restaurant was not busy even though it is spring break– our server acted as though her job was to just be there. Annoyed if you will. As the hour and a half of the meal went on, she brought drinks– checked in– this does not constitute a good server. She had the worst personality to be a server. We felt that we annoyed her by asking for a refill and another cocktail. Now on to the food. Blah. Out of the whole entire table, the kids spaghetti was the best food served. We had the following– Mozzarella sticks(kids) ok Oysters on the half shell(adult) ok Some fried grouper dish(almost every restaurant on Sanibel serves this) didn’t even finish a ¼ of the dish Steak sandwich(definitely the only real meal on the menu– and was bland and could’ve gotten something better at Denny’s) Kids spaghetti(not homemade but satisfied empty bellies) oh and it came with prepackaged Oreos And Mac n cheese(I could’ve microwaved a single portion better) Then when the server dropped the check it said it was already closed and I questioned why? Did my husband pay? No– it’s just the way it works– I will post a picture of of the tab. She was rude when I asked, then couldn’t explain why it said we had already paid cash. Hopefully someone doesn’t go and drink a little too much at the wine and beer bar and double pay. Needless to say– I would not tell a single person to try this place. All across the board it was a waste of money and stomach space. Not good food nor service.

Wow– this was one of my favorite meals for the week. Oysters were perfect. We ordered a bakers dozen to be split between 3 people. Could have easily eaten the entire tray myself. Grouper was fresh today so order a grilled grouper sandwich– put the bread to the side so I would taste only they grouper. AND it was so moist, flavorful and cooked perfectly. Served with French fries and Cole slaw. Service was quick and responsive. They seem to share in serving so good is not sitting long nor are patrons.

We stopped by for just drinks and it turned into ordering some appetizers too. The pitcher of sangria we shared was delicious. We also got a dozen oysters on the half shell. They came as a bakers dozen [13] and were mostly on the larger side with a freshness you could taste. We tried their Grouper bites which I wasn’t all that impressed because they were very small pieces with a lot of breading then soaked in Frank’s Red Hot Wing sauce it seemed. Place was super busy on a Saturday afternoon. Service was average to good. Four stars here as the four of us left happy.

This is a tiny little place icon the island that is part divey, mostly fishy. If you’re so inclined, you can bring your own fish that you may catch and they will cook it up for you in thief signature style. What a cool way to bring your own catch and the restaurant flair together! We didn’t do this, because I’m not a fisherman type of girl. But a cool idea. Decided to go for a local special and we both had the grouper. One in a salad and one a sandwich. WOW. Typically I don’t like«fishy» fish but when you come to local places like this, you ask the waitress what their house special is and when they say GROUPER, you order it. It was incredible. Perfectly cooked, seasoned. Delicious. They definitely know their best stuff. The service here was impeccable. This was the last leg of the journey for us before the drive home, and we were clearly a bit hungover and our waitress was awesome with refilling our million water glasses and iced teas. The happy hour/football bunch that was a bit rowdy next to us eventually moved outside, which ended up being awesome, but if you’re in the area it’s good to know they have awesome beer specials for football and a ton of TVs and the like for viewing pleasure. Would totally come back to be a lazy flamingo again :)

There’s nothing too special here. It’s your typical bar & grill with burgers, chicken tenders, sandwiches, etc. I shared the grouper sandwich & fries with Mark A. We weren’t that hungry, so it held us over. Again, nothing amazing but it sufficed. The décor is fun, which gives it character and makes it interesting to look around the restaurant. Outside, there’s a pink canoe for some fun photo op’s.

Expectations sunk! Definitely misled. Let’s begin with how overpriced the food is. Good seafood isn’t cheap, I get that. However, a Fried Grouper«basket»(2 tender sized fillets) with a side of fries & a spoonful of cole slaw for $ 21 is quite preposterous! Not to mention, my poor husband somehow ended up with an intense stomach ache and bad nausea throughout the night. I’m not directly blaming anyone, but this was his last meal, several hours prior to the discomfort. #NoBueno I did enjoy my meal. thankfully with no side effects. Sadly, there was nothing particularly memorable about it either. I ordered a medium grilled cheeseburger with iceberg lettuce, tomato, & pickles. The french fries were also good, but I don’t go back to a restaurant for«good fries». It really stunk that I had no other options other than fries or chips as a side. I mean, the meal was $ 10.49 after all.(I actually believe chips & fries are the only sides available on the entire menu, period.) Lazy Flamingo has a decent selection of draft Beers & your common, cheap House wines.(Beers priced from $ 2 — $ 4.99.) They also offer a house sangria but after reading several reviews, one can conclude you’re not missing out by passing on it. Service was less than mediocre. Quite careless, actually but at least it was a step-up than the uninviting host. Who else loves to start their dinner experience at a new restaurant with a grumpy host seating you??? The location is nice and outdoor seating is available. BEWARE: It is mosquito season so you’d probably enjoy the outdoor seating for a total of 5 seconds and after your first 20 mosquito bites, you’d run inside. Won’t be returning or recommending to anyone in this decade.

Spent a weekend on Sanibel and was recommended here by the front desk staff at our resort. Wandered in around 7:30 and we are hungry after a long road trip. This is a local flavor place– We orders steamed clams that are small but tasty . Tried the conch chowder and it was spiced well. Salmon grilled on a bed of salad greens was a little dry . Blacked grouper sandwich was very peppery– generous portion enough for two. We ordered a few local beers and they were great. Could not leave without sharing a piece of key lime pie from Mike ‘s pies. Great place for the family dinner and a free frisbee to pay on the beach with!

Sometimes, you have to just plunk down at your whim. We were on our way to an oft reviewed Sanibel fave, when I spied this eatery on Sanibel’s main road. One spot left in the crushed shell lot and we were headed to the door; but not before taking in the locally sourced limestone waterfall and moat around the entrance. We marveled at this, as we have our own backyard version. When we stepped inside, we were met by a friendly hostess and made our way to the bar. The whole place buzzed with happy guests. Mortie was the man of the hour, deftly taking orders, filling drinks, righting servers with tact. True pro, that Mortie. I admit, I did doubt him at first because he said the often abused phrase, «everything is great.» But, he turned out to be right. Great conch fritters, great clam marinara over linguine(little necks from Cedar key!) The insane, crazy good, out of bounds, true wonder of the world was my mesquite grilled Cobia sandwich! The filet was a 4X5, grilled filet with a mesquite bark that somehow allowed the fresh, moist fish to speak for itself. Beer and wine rounded I out the night. Oh, and a value, too.
