Overpriced monthly membership that keeps going up every year. Facility is almost always filled with obnoxious teenagers from the swim team, who think that they own the locker rooms and can do or say whatever they want — making members feel extremely uncomfortable and parents of young kids extremely offended. There are swim meets almost constantly — so the facility is always overcrowded.
The audio controls on most of the cardio equipment is almost always broken, so unless you’re very lucky, you won’t be able to use the audio jack to watch TV while you work out. The only person you will be able to talk to is the person at the front desk — the «directors» are nearly always inaccessible and impossible to reach when needed.
If you need to just get in a good workout — you’d probably be better off buying a much cheaper membership at Planet Fitness across town. Or if you’re looking for a class — there are plenty popping up around town that are great, and you won’t have to deal with offensive teenage girls in the locker room getting into your personal space, or overly-​loud pre-​pubescent boys in the men’s locker room yelling and screaming without any staff doing anything about it.
Most lower-​income members get to use the facility at cut-​rate cost or free, leaving the rest of the membership paying inordinate rates to make up for it. It’s just not worth it if you can avoid it.
