A hike with cows The Lake Jesup Conservation North Tract is part of the huge area of land that surrounds Lake Jesup. Most of it is flood plain from the huge lake. Most is quite dry from the recent lack of rain. The tract has a small parking lot and a gate with a sign. This whole area is cow pasture so it’s important to keep the gates closed. I didn’t see any cows but I sure saw a whole lot of cow poop. Fortunately I also saw numerous cool birds like wood storks, white ibis, great egrets, ospreys, blue herons and perhaps even an eagle. Although in reality the eagle was probably a buzzard. The trails aren’t really marked and you just kind of wander around the open fields and wooded areas. Bicycles, horses and hikers are encouraged but no motorized vehicles are allowed. Not the greatest place for a hike but it does have some nice scenery and some very abundant and cool wild life. Probably a much nicer place for some horse back riding than walking.
