Very good rolls for small price. Love the Mars roll, King roll, Samurai, firecracker, Mexico, Kiki

Mia roll — yummy! Would do again. Tokyo big roll — fav we order this every time we come here. 5 star Funky mango — really good, but sometimes they are skimpy on the mango DJ roll — pretty spicy. At least for wimps like us

This looks to be a small, family-owned place — and I love it. They have great rolls, the sashimi is always fresh and cut well, and it’s not super expensive! The only negative to this restaurant is that service can occasionally be a bit slow. So, just plan to spend a little extra time here, and it’s a non-issue.

Came here on a lunch date with my best friend. The service was… Interesting. Our waitress was not exactly nice, however it didn’t bother me and my friend. We found her comments and the Cantonese we overheard to be quite funny. I don’t think she was meaning to be rude — just a heads up — we arrived at 1:15pm and we told«you guys better hurry with ordering. We close at 2.» A surprise to me because the Unilocal and the door on the sign said that they are open till 2:30pm on Saturdays. Our food came out very quickly. The agedashi tofu & the teriyaki chicken was very good. The sashimi platter was 50⁄50 — the salmon and escolar tuna tasted great, but the normal tuna and albacore tuna was not very fresh. I don’t recommend ordering sashimi from here, but the lunch specials look great particularly if you are on a budget.

I loved the calm atmosphere. The sushi was okay. I wouldn’t just decide to go back on my own but if someone invited me I would mind it either. I guess I’m just neutral. It was good, just not exceptional. When it comes to sushi, I like exceptional. It is still worth the try.

Well we had high hopes but unfortunately we were disappointed. The overall attitude of service was like others have said, almost the feeling like we are an afterthought. The rice on the California rolls were too wet. The udon soup was just ok. The teriyaki chicken was white meat which is NOT traditional and frankly dark meat is what the Older established restaurants do. Soooo much more flavor. And they don’t accept Amex! That can be overlooked haha! But it just was not great food or service.

This is one of my favorite places to eat at when I come in from out of state. The sushi is great and the prices are fair! Definitely worth checking out to get your sushi fix!

My favorite sushi place in Utah and the best bang for your buck! Most rolls are 7.50 but they taste like their $ 20 rolls. My favorites are The Tokyo Big Roll, Kiku, Firecracker, Mars, Playboy, Dragon, Las Vegas, and the coconut shrimp rolls. I recommend you go during the week, Han(the sushi chef/owner) is the only one who makes the rolls and coming on the weekends you can expect a longer wait. Definitely recommend it to you, your friends, and anyone you know!

Ok let’s be honest here. The service is not great, the woman who works here sometimes acts like you are putting her out. But this place has pretty good rolls. Takashi downtown is better but hey you have an hour wait and are looking at twice the price. I have probably been to every sushi place in Sal Lake and this one is consistently good and cheap. They used to be on 3300 S then they moved to Sandy and we will still make the drive. If you are looking for a cheaper sushi place skip the others and go here. You may have to ask for water, the owner isn’t always very friendly… but you come for the food! It is better than you will find here unless you go to Takashi.

So excited to have discovered this place. Delicious, affordable sushi. Rolls are under $ 7.50, $ 2 edamame… The menu is pretty extensive. The place is clean and cozy. Service was a little aloof, but oh well. Maybe it’s the Japanese thing. Oh, and heads up, they don’t accept AMEX. Great overall, will definitely be back!

For business travelers this place DOESNOT take American Express. The place was empty when I picked up our order.

Not extremely good, not bad. You get what you pay for. All rolls are no more than 8 $. Server acted irritated to have to wait on us. Would go back without having high expectations. Edamame– good miso soup– good sashimi plate– good roll that I had– wouldn’t get again. Flavorless.

Tried a few rolls and really enjoyed them all! Especially the Coconut Shrimp roll, amazing! The service was great and enjoyed how quiet the atmosphere was.

We came back here 3 months later and found out they no longer have the special deals(all rolls were $ 6.50 or under), now most rolls you’d wanna order are $ 7.50. Over all it still tastes good for the price, the only reason I’m taking out a star is because when we came, there were 3 other couples besides us in the whole restaurant, and the wait time from the time we sat down until our food came was almost 40 minutes… I was starving. Maybe I feel justified taking off a star because Unilocal doesn’t do half stars & I started this review hangrily. Btw we ordered 4 rolls, which was enough to make a 125lbs girl and a 180lbs guy full enough to be content. $ 31ish not counting tips.

Meh. For the price the sushi is alright but the service sucked. Never offered a drink besides water. Had to ask again to get another drink. And the ambiance is well, 1982 wooden furniture family dining. Enjoyed the miso soup though.

I love this place. Jenny is always super nice. Best waitress ever. I’ve tried a million different items and have never been disappointed. If your in the Union Square area do yourself a favor. Go to Tokyo sushi.

OK so honestly we come to this place more than any other because the rolls are all less that $ 7. The quality is really good though. They don’t have the exotic super fancy and super expensive rolls the high end places do. But it is much better quality and cheaper than the all you can eat places. My kids devour the California rolls. My favorite is the Mars roll. Playboy is good too. I can feed my family of 6 for $ 60 here. That’s pretty much impossible anywhere else.

5 stars is not enough praise to heap on my FAVORITE sushi joint in Utah. The asian-themed atmosphere transports you to the streets of Saigon, while sweet-as-pie Jenny takes you to your table. First, let me take a minute to get this off my chest — Jenny(the main chick in charge) is beyond adorable, friendly, and HILARIOUS. She will crack a joke like no other.(Ask her about«the pencil»!!! B E S T STORY E V E R!) Order the Prayboy, Utah, and anything spicy tuna. YUMMMM in my TUMMMMMM. Give it a try! But don’t be surprised if you find yourself obsessed with the sushi and in love with a pretty girl named Jenny.

For the money… by far my favorite sushi place in Utah. $ 7, all rolls(lunch & dinner). I know $ 7 rolls usually suck — these are awesome(see pic for the MARS and Playboy). I like these better than the $ 15 executive roll at Tsunami. The owner(Hong Cheung) is from Vietnam and does a great job in my opinion. Try it and let me know what you think.
