The return process is the most ridiculous process. You need everything short of a urine sample in order to return something and have the credit issued back to your credit card. They do everything in their power in order to give you«store credit» so that you will spend more money there. I will never set foot back in a sports authority.

Really horrible place. They never have the shoe sizes for the kids… all the popular sizes are always gone. There is never an employee to help, and when you do find one, they have no idea what the mercandise is. We bought a ping pong table and didn’t want to spend a long time setting it up, so we asked the employees how assembled was it in the box, and they said everything was together and we should have very little time, all the legs were assembled. Well, we opened it and it was in a million pieces, just a huge heavy box full of nuts and bolts, it is terrible. Then before we even left the store, they try to upsell you on their warrantly package so hard, you begin to wonder if you are just buying a bunch of junk that will break immediately. I hate these big box stores for this reason and next time will spend a little extra and go to a local shop that will be more helpful.

Friendly atmosphere filled with workers who want to help you. Only a good deal if there is a sale or if you have a coupon.

This is the place to buy shoes and if you do, you should seek out an associate named Ali. He has fit my wife and I with running shoes(better than other stores that only ‘specialize’ in running shoes). In fact my wife shoes were fit so well we specifically came back here and waiting until Ali was done with another customer to have him fit me. He is a great and very kind person, great with kids and just overall provides GREAT service.

Seems like a nice place. Lots of stuff — but apparently no swimming stuff, which is what I was looking for. I didn’t really love it here, but I’m not super gear oriented so maybe it would feel like heaven to someone else. I felt like it’s the place you would go if you had a specific sporting goods need and just wanted to find it, no matter what the cost. I didn’t look around a ton but it didn’t seem like they had a lot of super deals or clearance stuff… which is more my bag. I don’t mind the hunt, if it yields results, but there wasn’t much of that here. I did stop to try on a pair of running shoes and hardly sat down before an associate was analyzing my feet and trying to sell me insoles. If I had been seriously looking I would have appreciated that kind of attention I suppose. As it was, I was just a little overwhelmed. My uneducated opinion: if you need certain gear, or just like to look at that sort of stuff and dream about getting the latest and greatest, I’d say give it a shot. If you are just getting started on a sport, and not sure what you want yet… maybe check somewhere else for a better deal.

This may not be the most useful review for sporting goods shoppers, because I wasn’t coming here to shop around. I was like black ops Marine – I had a mission, I went in, I came out clean, and I executed the plan with surgical precision. This is a honkin’ big store so I had to stay focused. Found the aisle that I was looking for, got the goods, and got back to the register. For those unfamiliar with Sports Authority, they’re large stores that focus more on «team sports» or «action sports» with all the appropriate supplies, clothing, and footwear. Not so much the«sportsman» kinds of sporting goods(hunting, fishing, camping.) They do have a fair selection of games like billiards, darts, air hockey, and my favorite bocce, amongst many others. For the six uninitiated people, there’s my incredibly obvious observation. This location is on the east side of State Street, so if you’re coming from the south no problem, but I hate accessing all these businesses from the north – you have to pass them, then flip your yooey and trickle into the parking lot, weave to the right bank of stalls and then breathe a sigh of relief. Here’s where the sweetness came in: I used the Unilocal check-in offer for a $ 10 cash card and they punched it in without a problem, I’m out the door happy. Dunno how long the offer will last, but I know if I ever have to go back into Marine mode for my sporting goods needs, I’ve done my reconn on Sports Authority and it’s legit.

HUGE store. One bad thing about this place is that they don’t sell any Laker jerseys. Only Utah Jazz jerseys HAHAHA.
