This was a great local spot for coffee and sandwiches for a number of reasons — staff, location etc. For now, however, it appears the place has closed permanently.

Weird vibe in this place. Three people behind the counter waiting around doing nothing. I walked in and seemed to startle them. Perhaps they could have been brewing a new batch of coffee — because the one I had tasted as though it had been brewed 3 hours prior. Baked goods looked like every other café that doesn’t make their own — nothing special.

Been here twice. I got the chicken salad sandwich which was pretty good. A little pricey but for the heart of downtown I’d expect nothing less.

Just a wonderful coffee shop here in downtown Sandwich. Today it was a Sumatra that was done right here on the cape and it was just a perfect cup of coffee. I also had the grilled eggplant and zucchini soup for a quick lunch and it was served with perfection. An excellent stop any time of the year.

Apple toffee scone! It’s delicious! The coffee has a great variety and the soup cures what ails you. The setting inside is small and had such comfortable chairs. Totally worth repeatedly visiting.

I was a big fan of this coffee shop and the location in Sandwich. Just off the main road, it’s the perfect place to grab an iced coffee and breakfast bagel. Service was friendly, plenty of seating was available even at breakfast time, and wifi was fast and easy to sign-on. Nearby are a few stores and there seems to be plenty of places to park.

They make a strong Latte! The assorted coffee ready to pour are great too! Haven’t tried anything else, but nice to have some good well brewed coffee in Sandwich.

Wow! Great non-chain coffee spot. Locally owned and their behind the counter(something you don’t see often enough). Everything was fresh that day and the coffee had the right amount of natural pick me up. Perfect place to stop in to if you happen to be on 6A and stuck in all that traffic.

Fair, honest pricing along with a great local source for Cape coffee. I am twice a customer, and both times received friendly, timely service and tasty coffee with panini’s. The free wireless and conversational atmosphere were plus. On 6A just east of rt. 130 in Sandwich, MA, it really has potential to be a great, popular place if more knew about it. I go just after lunch, so I received excellent service. One star off for needing to keep the old place slightly cleaner.

Though ideally located in the heart of historic downtown Sandwich, you’ll want to skip this quaint coffee shop due to the incredibly slow service, dirty conditions and surly staff. The lone teen working behind the counter during this October weekday morning was just a miserable person: outwardly unpleasant, sloth-paced and wholly disinterested in her customers. With only 4 patrons in the entire place(all of whom had been served prior to us arriving), you’d think we’d receive our stale scone and 2 cappuccinos quickly… not at The Coffee Roost: it took nearly 10 long minutes of sitting at the food & fly-covered tables before she brought our cap-caps over without a word. Lovely. Though the lines are longer, you’ll get a far more pleasant experience at the Dunkin’ Donuts or Starbucks just up the road.

Horrible! Rude people with zero customer service skills. My experience made me miss the pervious owner, Paul! I agree that the coffee is bad. I believe that it’s Beanstock coffee which is a fabulous bean — how do mess that up!

On the southwest corner of Jarves and Route 6A is the historic Russell’s Corner building, Sandwich’s oldest market. Under that roof is The Coffee Roost, a sidewalk café offering coffee, premium ice cream, and sandwiches(and chili and soups). The paninis are great. Something about press-toasting the bread makes the sugars rise to the surface. How else could you make me rave about a grilled ham and cheese sandwich? The ingredients are plentiful. With a soda, the bill is still under $ 10. Seating inside or outside, in the shade or in the sun. This is a good stop in your walking tour of Sandwich.
