I have eaten at Tomo twice in the past and the food has always been passable. However, it’s location inside the Hotel Breakers as well as the fact that my son loves the cooking show led us back here a third time. We know that there was a good chance the restaurant would most likely be busy so at 4pm I went down to make a reservation. The woman in charge insisted that as long as we came between 5:00 and 5:30 we wouldn’t need a reservation because«it’s never busy then.» She said just come back and you will be seated immediately. Fast forward to 5:15…we return for dinner with our very excited 8 year old. There is now a man seating people who looked at us and said there were no table openings and that we should have made a reservation. We explain to him about our conversation with the female hostess, and he goes to get her. She comes out from behind the sushi bar(by the way — they had no sushi the entire weekend) and tells us we are completely wrong. She insists she never said that and she told us to come«much earlier than 5.» We reminded her that we had come at 4 and she starts screaming at us that we don’t know what we’re talking about. Now I have an 8 year old sobbing because not only are we not being seated but he is not getting the dinner that he had been promised, and this lady is still screaming how she knows how to run a restaurant?!? Apparently not, since while we were in the lobby trying to figure out what to eat we saw another party coming out of the restaurant complaining of the same exact thing.

In the hotel next to Cedar Point. There was a long wait but we made a reservation and there was still some confusion and waiting after our arranged time. The meal was great and the show was a lot of fun. The service was very good and I was pleased with the portions. For Dinner and a show in an amusement park it was reasonably priced. We would go again.

So let’s call it for what it is. You’re hotel is inside an amusement park, the options are a bit limited. Let’s start from the beginning. We go down and check-in to the restaurant. Dear manager, despite what you think, I am not your honey or sweetie. This a huge pet peeve of mine. If you are«trying» to be respectful, miss or ma’am will do. Honey/Sweetie, is just disrespectful. Just for that you started with 4 stars. The food was certainly not bad. It’s what you’d expect from a Hibachi joint. The problem with this particular restaurant is that only one of the hibachi chefs had an entertaining personality. Why is this such a problem? Because while our bland and boring chef was cooking we were enjoying the entertainment at someone else’s table. The entertainment aspect of hibachi is the main reason I go, and I was disappointed. With what options there were, this place served its purpose…

Food tastes good. Hibachi chef was funny. Waitstaff was rude. My sushi came after I finished my hibachi and was incorrect. Sent it back. At least my bill is less.

All we can really say about his place is that we were treated quite rudely. We dropped in for a late dinner after 9:00pm, and were seated at an empty hibachi table. They placed us next to a pillar, so we moved to some equally empty seats at the table with a better view of the room. Within a few minutes some came and asked us to move back to the undesirable seats. They said there were others coming who had reservations, but when we asked how many people it was, they obviously didn’t know, and just wanted us to move, so they could have a bigger block of empty seats. Well, we accommodated them by leaving. We had a wonderful dinner at the nearby Bay Harbor Restaurant. Bottom line, unless this place is empty, or you have reservations, just skip it.

Sushi portions are now half the size of previous years when I stayed at a Breakers Hotel. Do not order Sushi huge waste of money. Very disappointed ! We usually eat there multiple times but one time only this year.

Konnichiwa. After checking in, my entire family was starved so we decided to get something quick to eat. After looking at the expensive menu and expecting quality food we decided to take a seat at the hibachi table. The young Chinese woman in glasses brought me and the rest of my party individual cups of miso soup. The mushrooms floating around were soooo big they seem as if they were injected with steroids. then after she brought us our h2o it was time for her to take our order. I ordered the salmon and steak(or as they say“Ching Chong chow”) then appeared«jimmy» with his cooking cart(including his strange squirting doll), he mumbled the Ching Chang chant and began to turn on the hibachi. As the hibachi was warming up, he made everyone cling clang his spatula… as a germaphobe it bothered me considering everyone touched his spatula. After choking people by flinging food food into their mouth unexpectedly, he brought out the raw meet plate from under the cart which seemed as if it had been sitting at room temp for over 45 minutes(who knows how many bugs were sitting on my food but that’s a cedar point issue that will be discussed in a different review). He threw it on the flat top, chopped it up, and threw the thin overly priced seasoned meat on my plate and left. Not giving us any time of the day because he had to move on to his next party. Must be commissioned based! after they charged me an arm and a leg(which was probably used for the next meal) left and got to experience the newly renovated and nicely decorated bathrooms down the hall for the rest of the night. After checking in at Breakers, we noticed this, and went right in. It’s not huge, but it was comfortable. The chef was fantastic, perhaps the best I’ve ever had at a Japanese steakhouse. We started with wine and sake, which were good and reasonably priced. Sweetie had steak and chicken, I had steak and salmon. There was no salad, but it wasn’t missed. The soup was pretty typical for these places, and not bad. The fried rice was good, not overly greasy. The vegetables were decent, not amazing. The meats were all done just right– he was careful to check– and tasty. Prices were high, but then, they always are at Japanese steakhouses. A bit higher? Yes, but remember where you are. It’s nice having these better options at an amusement park. I’d rather pay for overpriced good food than overpriced crappy food.

Ahh! Horrible! Okay so we are from California, we are Asian, we are particular about our sushi.kinda. But sushi should never be warm, as my Sushi Regular was. It wasn’t even warm – it was a strange in between temperature that made my stomach turn. Our waiter forgot that my order came with soup and salad and I had to ask and got it after my sushi was there(mediocre soup and salad, if that). No soy sauce plates until we asked a second time. Oh and the crunch California rolls are pathetic; order the tempura California rolls. But wait, there’s more… Our California rolls sat at the bar in plain sight for 15 minutes until we asked«hey wait, dear waiter. Isn’t that our sushi all alone at the bar?» «Oh! Yeah!» He was so absentminded. We talked to the manager who although sympathetic, took no action until we asked.(all we asked for was to take my sushi off) Horrible. Never going back.

Not too bad at all! I sat at the sushi bar alone the other night while I waited for the rest of my party to arrive at the hotel. It was about 10:30, and the restaurant didn’t close until 11:30, so I didn’t feel like I was inconveniencing anyone. The servers weren’t very friendly and they definitely shot me some daggers after I finished eating and urged me to leave, but the food was A-OK! I was a little scared to try anything raw, so I ordered a spider roll and gyoza. I also attempted to order miso soup, but they didn’t have any left. The gyoza were delicious and crispy, and the spider roll was right up my alley. A little over sauced, but the soft shell crab was cooked perfectly. The only complaint I have is that the spider roll, at around $ 14, was only 5 pieces. A little stingy if you ask me.

Reviews I read said the place was bad. We went in with 70 people and the service was great, The cooks were great and lots of fun, and the food excellant.

Food was average, the chef overcooked our steak and didnt even season the rice. How can you just rely on Soy Sauce to flavor fried rice. Having done hibachi in NY for a long time I can see that this place was not interested in quality, but just in getting people in the door. Perkins next door put mote quality into their food then this place.

My family absolutely loves hibachi grills, and this did not look to disappoint. HOWEVER, after calling at 3:00 in the afternoon to make a reservation, we were told that a reservation would be unnecessary. We then showed up at 8:30, and the place was packed. We then made an apparently«unnecessary» reservation at the hostess stand, for 9:00. We get back at 9:00, and we are told it will be another ten minute wait. We waited until 9:15, when they started cleaning off a grill. The hostess then proceeded to seat ANOTHER party, who had been waiting in line for FIVEMINUTES! Not only that, but she act completely shocked when we were upset at her. Overall, I’m sure the food is great, but I cannot handle that amount of unpreparedness and poor business tact. Would recommend reservations EARLY, and be prepared to WAIT!

NOTVEGANFRIENDLY!!! They add butter too ALL the rice. Before they even cook it. Went in for a safe vegan meal, sadly had to leave. Prices were also higher then I am used to seeing at other places.

This sushi/hibachi restaurant is located in the Hotel Breakers at Cedar Point. This place had standard Hibachi fare as well as a nice selection of sushi. The sushi was very good, though quite overpriced for the size you get(some rolls were around $ 20 but weren’t particularly large). There was a decent beer selection for a japanese place. The hibachi chefs put on a fun show and the service was excellent. The atmosphere was comfortable and well decorated. The best benefit of this place is that it was open late so that we could go there after a long day at Cedar Point after the park closed(I believe they said they were open until 2am on weekend nights). The frustrating part of this place though is that we were trying to decide on a place to eat after the park closed at 11pm and wanted to get to something right away while places were still open for dinner. So we tried to call in advance or look on the website but no hours are posted anywhere! And the phone number is just a standard Cedar Point menu with a huge automated menu so I couldn’t even figure out how to get to a person to ask. When you look up the Hotel Breakers you also get the standard Cedar Point number so it’s impossible to even reach the reception desk as far as I could figure out. So that was quite frustrating, but it ended up being open much to our relief so it all worked out. I should also note that this place is not open for lunch and opens around 5pm(first time we tried to go we sadly discovered this, as it is not posted anywhere!). I do not understand why the Cedar Point dining website does not post any hours for its restaurants, which is very confusing and frustrating. I’m giving this place 3 stars in comparison to the other options in Cedar Point and its convenience to the park and late open hours, but if this were anywhere else I’d probably give it 2 stars.
