Staff here was really nice. Food, on the other hand, was disappointing. The stuffed shrimp tasted pre cooked and served with regular shrimp over a bed of great bread crumbs. Also, the beer selection seemed quite limited.

As for the pub menu burgers weren’t cooked to correct temperature. As for dinner menu. Alfredo wasn’t bad but definitely nothing special.

The New Boston Inn what a let down. Me & my husband have been vising there for a couple of years now. Stop in and have either lunch or dinner. Food was always good and I’m sure it still is. We we booked a room for one night, really looking forward to this night. Plans had to change due to pending weather so we called 5 days in advance to cancel. I was shocked to find out that there was a $ 50.00 charge for the cancellation. When the call was made booking the room all policies and especially a cancellation fee of $ 50.00 should have been advised. This was not the case. We gave 5 days notice as well which I feel is plenty not that what I feel matters at this point. I have never ever encountered such poor customer service she was nothing but rude!!! All I want to get across is be careful if you decide to book a room. I’m sure the policy is noted on the website however not everyone uses a website to book rooms. New Boston Inn please advise people of your $ 50.00 cancellation charge when folks call in — it’s the very least you can do. Thank you very unhappy customer

I originally reviewed this place as 4 stars after my initial meal there. I have been back a number of times since and it constantly disappoints. After a number of visits, I can honestly say it deserves 2 stars. A horrible place? Not at all. Mediocre might better describe it. Want have a beer with some locals? By all means drop in for a brew. Looking for a good meal? Try elsewhere. They have trouble even cooking a burger at the right temperature.

On my way back from Albany on business last year, I spotted this great looking old New England Inn on Rt-8 in Sandisfield Ma. and stopped in to check it out. It turned out to be one of the most interesting places I’ve come acrossed in a long time and it has quite a history to it. They have a small bar and a larger dining area but the real cool place to check out are the upstairs guest rooms and«dance hall». The staff is funny and engaging and the food is always good. I’ve made it destination spot on motorcycle rides particularly in the fall. It’s located right at the junction of Rt-57 which is also a great ride.

Everytime we’re in the area we stop here. Its great. Good atmosphere good food. Everythings homemade and service is always great. Meat loaf and pot roast are the house specialties. Its a historic in thats been open since 1737 and has the character to match

We have driven past the Inn many times and finally checked the omnipotent Unilocal and decided to stop in. We had been tramping around in the woods as usual, but the hostess said we were fine. We ate in the dining room as the pub was full. The place is really cool, built in 1737, and operated continually since. I chose a Berkshire Brewery coffee house porter and my wife a Merlot. We both had house specialties; I had the meatloaf, my wife the pot roast. Both very well prepared with mashed, green beans and a dark rich gravy. We both chose to save half for for another day and moved on to the desert menu. I had a delicious pumpkin pie and she had baklava. Both very good. We got a brief tour from the hostess of the up stairs ballroom and guest rooms. Grand total-$ 60 + tip. Well worth the stop.

This was a nice little stop for lunch while in the Berkshires. There’s a cute outdoor area with a little little pond with baby fish and frogs. We ate in the dining room and service was good. The bowl of coma chowder was a nice size and was very delicious but did have an interesting cinnamon hint to it. I ordered the Caesar salad which was simple, good and«side salad» portion(not meal portion). My husband got the fish and chips which were good. Overall, we enjoyed our lunch here.

I didnt expect fine food and got no more. But the homemade corn salad is good and the atmosphere is just right. I think it is one of the oldest inns in NE. I recommend it.

The below email was sent to the New Boston In after a very poor dinner. I never received so much as a follow up email. I seriously considered posting an online review about our dining experience last night, but thought I should let you know about it. I own a business, and I know I would want to know about a bad experience before someone were to post a poor review about my business. Last night my husband was so pleased to take out to your place for our 34th Anniversary dinner. My husband actually apologized to me this morning for our disappointing meal last night. First off, it was so noisy even with the door closed to the bar, that after a while I just nodded yes to whatever my husband was saying because I couldn’t hear him. I returned my first glass of wine for a clean glass, because there were particles all over the outside of it. I was given another glass just as dirty. I have worked in restaurants before. Please clean the trap in your dishwasher. Our soup was ok, the bread, under baked and gummy inside. My dinner was salmon. I asked for the baked potato instead of the sweet, big mistake. My potato was so uncooked, it was too hard for me to even try to eat it. Salmon, a bit fishy, but at least it was hot. My brussel spouts, were cold, as was, my husbands, very fatty steak, and sweet potato. All I ate was my salmon, and left everything else. We were asked how things were, but honestly, it so bad, I would have said to take it all back. We were asked about dessert, but I just couldn’t stand another disappointment, so we passed. This was my husband’s gift to me. I was so disappointed for him. I have had some dinners that were less than good, before, but this was probably the worst. Our server was fine, but the four ladies next to us had one that was very loud. You may also want to rethink having your servers actually tell patrons that there is velveta used in a dish. The table got real quiet when they were told that. Maybe you just want to rethink velveta. Needless to say we will never be back, and we will never be able to recommend you to anyone.

Stopped on a Sunday after a long day of hiking. If you sit in the dining room you are limited to the Dining Room Menu. If you sit in the pub, you get the addition of a lower priced pub –fare menu. We sat in the pub. 4 beers on tap, 3BBC and 1 Long Trail. I’m assuming it’s because of the location and relative exclusivity, but the dinner menu was over priced. $ 13 for a buffalo chicken wrap?! Methinks not! Anything you want is extra. Bread, $ 1.50. Extra sauce for dipping, $.50. Open faced meatloaf sandwich that was touted as «possibly the best you’ve ever had» was average. The home made french fries were nice, but I have certainly had better. The salad and homemade dressing were nice, but nothing to write home about. The cream of broccoli soup was a huge disappointment, and we left over half of the $ 5.75 bowl that was NOT served with bread!!! The owner had friends there and was loud as hell. I’ll forgive the jubilation given the small size of the bar and forced close quarters, but since you are the owner, perhaps a little thought for your other patrons is in order? But considering she was the loudest of the bunch, I suppose she couldn’t be expected to have her friends be respectful while she wasn’t. The worst part of the evening was not the waitress herself, she was pleasant enough, it was the wait for the check. Apparently she had a large table in the dining room and we were forced to wait over 15 minutes after we finished our meals and asked for our check before we received it. There was another couple at the bar that had ordered take-away and were forced to sit while their food got cold and soggy in it’s Styrofoam containers, for as long as we did. Perhaps a return trip is needed, they do have an outdoor seating option that is pet friendly, and that may earn them an extra star all by itself next spring/summer.

We stopped here yesterday on our way home from the outlets in Lee, Massachusetts. It was a Sunday afternoon and as we were walking in there was a small band playing on the back lawn to a few folks. We dined in, in the quaint dining room. We shared their clam chowder which was good. Their menu is small but again it’s a small inn. I had the open faced meatloaf with french fries and it was quite good. My partner had a grilled chicken sandwich with garlic, spinach, mushrooms, and cheese. He thought the chicken was dry and there was too much garlic. Trudy, our wait person was very friendly and working very hard. They seem to have a lively bar scene, it’s very quaint and old and cozy. It’s a nice stop in the middle of a restaurant desolate area.

I posted this same review on another review site so here it is– Don’t believe the negative review on this and other sites. I stayed at the New Boston Inn this past weekend and found it comfortable and the owner hospitable. It brings one back to days gone by with it’s cozy bar and quaint restaurant. It’s run by one woman, Barbara, who does her best to make one feel at home. The room was large and the bed comfortable. This is not the Plaza Hotel. If you need those types of amenities you are staying at the wrong place. Give The New Boston Inn a try-you’ll like! Matt

Really quaint little pub/bar with a restaurant attached. Great local atmosphere and friendly staff etc. We stopped by on a Sunday evening and had a few regular dishes. All were very good and reasonably priced. Nice and freshly prepared. Had a good selection of local brews to add to the good food. It is definitely now on our regular stops when traveling through the Berkshires. Expect it to be really good on warm summers evening as there is plenty of room to sit outside. Very picturesque as well.

This is a favorite stop of ours on motorcycle trips. It’s along a scenic(& now newly paved) stretch of Rt. 8. The food has been consistently good and fresh, & the service excellent. Lunch appears to be served from noon until dinner and the conversation is always interesting. Great parking in back.

This is for the restaurant. It’s more 3.5 stars. Nice little pub. There is a nicer restaurant part but I stopped along the road for lunch one day and went to the tavern part. You definitely feel that there is a family atmosphere here. They were warm and friendly. The service was OK but I came for lunch at an off time. The food was OK too. I will try it again because it seems like it’s a great little place but a 3 pm lunch on a Wed probably isn’t the best time to judge it.
