Maxreal San Ramon

I’ve done business with Maxreal on two occasions, so my rating you see here is an average of the two interactions. Lillian was my broker both times.
I was first attracted to Maxreal for their aggressive rates and typically no point, no fees programs.
The first loan was successfully completed at the promised interest rate and I got my closing costs back. I gave that four stars and took off a star, because it did require a lot of following up on my end.
The second loan was a disaster!!! This was in early 2013, when rates were at all time lows. I locked in at 3.5%, or let me rephrase that, they told me they locked me in at 3.5% and led me to believe throughout the whole process that everything was fine. I got all my documentation in on time and there were no problems whatsoever with my qualifying for the refinance. When it came time to close, Lillian called me and told me she had some bad news. The rate wasn’t locked! WTF!!! By that time, the rates were close to 4% and I was definitely not interested in refinancing at that rate. Long story short, I ended up not completing this transaction, but I wasted countless hours putting together paperwork for the loan.
Liilian was polite and apologetic, but I’m still furious 3 months later. It could have knocked a couple hundred dollars off my monthly mortgage.
For the second interaction, I rate it 1 star or 0 stars if I could.

Jane Zhou assisted us as well with a mortgage last November, she got a great rate for us and we closed the loan on time. Thank you Jane!

A friend recommended Jane Zhou, the branch manager of Maxreal San Ramon, when I was telling him my woes about dealing with a different mortgage broker. Unlike some other mortgage brokers I wont name, Jane was very up front and thorough, and presented all the paperwork to back up what she said without being asked. She got us a good rate up front and worked very hard on working through the loan conditions. She seemed extremely honest, and extremely hard working. Getting a loan can be a harrowing process without someone like Jane, as I found out before I contacted her.
I would heartily and unreservedly recommend Jane Zhou, and I will look her up if I ever pay off enough of my house to refinance.
