I don’t know who GJ C is, but he should stay in San Fran. The people at Diablo Hearing Services are The Best… period. Friendly, professional and competent. I have been coming here for many years, as has my own son. We both get treated like family. I now have Kaiser for my insurance, so my hearing tests are covered by them. Regardless, I am seriously thinking about paying DHS for their test anyhow, since I trust them and like them very much. Small price to pay for their great service. I would recommend them in a heartbeat. RJM

I would highly reccomend Sarah Carey. She gave me a complete audiologist testing. I really appreciated the time she spent with me as she gave me a complete graph of my hearing and let me try on aids and explained all of them in detail. I . will be going back to her Marilyn Lazar

I just arrived home from having my hearing tested by Sarah Carey. I think she is wonderful and I thought I would write a review .WOW! I just read a negative review! I have been going to Sarah Carey since 2008 and I have NEVER seen her be anything but delightful and charming! She is extremely professional and I have even recommended her to friends. The long negative review written is unbelievable to me! After having Sarah Carey treat me on several occasions I find her to be a caring and competent audiologist. I am so impressed they way she makes her patients feel comfortable and informed. I would like to say that her support staff is also competent and caring.

One star was the lowest possible rating. I should have kept my other scheduled appointment with another, more recognized Audiologist in Walnut Creek. A few weeks ago my audiologist(not with Diablo Hearing Services) had to reschedule my appointment. We were flying out of the country, and I needed to be seen for a test. I found Diablo Hearing Services on my own. When I arrived to the office, I was told to sign in and«sit», that I would bee seen shortly. Sarah Carey came into the patient waiting room to collect me. She was obviously rubbing hand sanitizer on her hands, so was not going to shake my hand. No worries. Immediately, she demonstrated almost an impatient tone with me. I am in my 40’s, and had been having hearing /ear pain problems. I have a rich PPO plan which covers all providers. She was more concerned about me not having a referral. I told her that my ENT doctor should have faxed over to her their findings and suggestion for my further testing — though they did not recommend Diablo Hearing Services, it really shouldn’t matter. Additionally, I had checked before-hand to make sure the insurance wouldn’t be a problem — and it wasn’t. PPO plans do not require a pre-authorization or referral. Sarah began firing questions at me rapidly, almost like she didn’t believe my reason for being there. Strange. I actually just assumed she preferred not to speak or work with male patients. That was the vibe she gave off. Her manner of speech and office /bedside manner were awful. I actually stood up and stared at her. I was a second away from telling her to take a hike — and that I didn’t need her sour and unprofessional attitude. I think she may have caught a glimpse of herself and her conduct. Her angry questions and extremely brisk tone of voice softened a margin. I also knew we were flying overseas in a couple of days and I did not want to fly without my test — and for my ENT to get the results and speak with me. Sarah said to follow her, that we were going into a booth to have my hearing tested. I followed her to another room, walking quickly to keep up with her. There was a glass-enclosed booth and a desk outside. She walked over and opened the door for me and then immediately walked to her desk. She pointed to the room, I assume for me to follow her command and go in. What Sarah DIDNOT tell me was that there was a large step, and I needed to step UP. There was no sign to «Step Up». There was no «caution». Nothing. She said nothing. Not a «Watch your step» or a «Careful, you will need to step up»…nothing. So, rather than stepping up, and wearing flip flops, I jammed my right foot into the step and fell UP and INTO the audio booth. Flat on my face. I was embarrassed, my hands and wrist hurt from trying to break my fall(I’m very tall) and stubbed my toe. Sarah peeked her head into the booth and actually let out a little laugh. «Hehe…are you OK?» Not once did this unprofessional, sorry excuse for a care-giver /provider apologize. Negligent as she was for not warning me, and posting NOSIGNS, she could have offered her hand to help me up, or ask if she could bring me some ice. She asked again if I was OK and I was in pain a little, more embarrassed and shocked. After her awful, brisk bedside manner, I was not in the best mood to placate her — but was pissed at this point. All I said was, «Yes, you can help out by posting a SIGN to STEPUP or Caution your patients!» She never once acknowledged this. Again, this rude provider couldn’t even find the graciousness to apologize and show a molecular amount of concern. Yes — I will report this to an OMBUDSMAN. And I can guarantee, before any investigation is done,(if she has any common sense or hasn’t done so already), will post a sign. And, I can assure all who read this, that she or her office will no doubt attempt to defame this honest post. This incident occurred a month ago. I am still angry at Sarah Carey’s awful manner, rude and condescending conduct and tone-of-voice, and her inept concern for care-giving. I will never revisit this audiologist, nor any in her practice. I will tell everyone I know, including my insurance provider — and every website I can find, what terrible treatment she provided. You know, we all have off-days; and we as consumers or patients know when not even basic customer service, or quality patient care is given — and when a series of events occur one after the other and the person providing care or a service is too arrogant to apologize for their inefficiency, the world deserves to know. YOU, as a provider need to check yourself. All of us know when we’re in a foul mood — so there is no excuse. Check yourself and fake it or change your behavior. If you don’t feel like waiting on patients or smiling and being kind and compassionate, go home. But don’t be a rude ogre. Stay away from this provider.

My initial visit to Diablo Hearing Services was for a hearing test. Sarah Carey was excellent! I was very impressed with Sarah’s professionalism, knowledge and overall personality. She conducted the hearing test and subsequently explained the results to my wife and I. Sarah clearly explained the results in a professional manner. She was very knowledgeable regarding the various type of hearing devised that are available and the functionality and effectiveness. Sarah made the entire experience very positive because of her great personality. Great experience overall. I would highly recommend her.
