Horrible service pretty good lunch special small salad and personal pizza $ 10.50 only reason I gave it two stars. The pizza was definitely over salted though! The waiter was a complete pest when we first sat down asking three times in less than 5 mins what we wanted to eat. Once we got our food he was MIA despite me flagging him and another waiter twice just to be ignored. The place wasn’t even busy which made it worse. We also never got our already made and sitting at the counter breadsticks. First time here was similar experience so this is our last time!

I was out finishing last minute holiday shopping at Northgate, and needed a bite to eat but didn’t want«mall food» and Tomatina had very good reviews so my daughter and I stopped in for a late lunch. The hostess was pleasant and prompt to seat us, which was great because it was cold and rainy outside. We were happy to see there was no wait. We were prompted asked for drink orders, however we sat for a good 15 minutes before we placed our food order. I thought perhaps patience was key, they were busy, holiday’s etc… After we placed our order, we flagged our waitress down and added another item. When our food came out, another server brought it out. Nobody asked if we’d like drink refills, our add on item came after we were finished eating and it wasn’t until the check was being dropped off that we saw our waitress again. Our meals were both over $ 20.00 dishes, drinks, and side dish. For a $ 60.00 lunch I would have liked to have eaten it all together, and possibly have something to wash it down. I hope this was a slip in the program, and not how it’s normally done. This was both of our first experience at Tomatina, based on this day I likely won’t want to try it again, or possibly go when the staff isn’t overwhelmed.

Needed a place to eat Monday afternoon while shopping. There are several restaurants in the area so we flipped a coin and chose Tomatina. We had never been there before so it was a new experience. It was after the lunch rush so there was no wait for a table. It was a little drafty(next to a door) at our first table and we were promptly moved to a better location. Drinks arrived quickly, the bread sticks held us until our ‘Carne Combo’ arrived. It ranks up there with the best pizza I have had. We had the medium, which was plenty for lunch(for two), and we even brought some home. Hint — ‘reheated’ it was not quite as good. Drinks were refilled without asking. and we got a water to go when we left. Alvaro, our waiter, was great. Definitely would go back if I was in the area again.

My 12-year old daughter likes this place. So far, I’ve had 3 separate disappointing experiences there. And today, after avoiding them for a few years, may have been the last time I’ll give them a chance. After being ignored for about 10 minutes after being seated for lunch, we got stale breadsticks and the iced tea I ordered had maybe 6 ice cubes that quickly melted away leaving me with a glass of gradually warming tea. I watched the mom of another small family at the next table struggle to get the ravioli special she ordered. Her husband and daughter were working through the pizza and salad they ordered while poor mom had to ask twice for her pasta. Then they delivered the wrong pasta and told her she could keep it since it was delivered to the wrong table. «But I want the pasta I ordered,» she said plaintively. It finally arrived and she was forced to scarf it down because they were now running late for another engagement. But back to our table… The kids had pasta and seemed fine with it. My wife and I shared a Caesar salad and the chicken pesto pizza. Today’s Caesar reminded me that I’ve been disappointed by it before. Today it was over-dressed, which made the lettuce wilt to sogginess, whereas previously I was forced to remember it just tasted bad. The only real saving grace – and why this isn’t a one star review – was the pizza. It wasn’t all that bad. Flavors were okay and the crust was alright. But after having a stale breadstick, a wilted salad, shooing flies away the whole meal, and having my chair knocked by a server going through a door(we were sitting on the patio) while I was mid-bite and the server, albeit nicely, saying«Excuse me, sir» and expecting me to move out of the way instead of apologizing and going around like all the other servers were doing, I’m pretty much done with Tomatina. I’d rather eat next door at Panda Express where I hear the General Tsao Panda is quite delicious.

Let’s see: Convenient to the mall. Quick waiter service. My alcoholic drink actually had alcohol in it-novel discovery! Odd bread sticks but flavorful. Order placed and brought to the table timely. I enjoyed the atmosphere and the service of this restaurant. The crowd was mixed from family to singles like myself. There was no one rushing me out so I was able to pleasantly enjoy my meal. I had left over and I’d definitely return when in the area.

This place is great, prices are great, The waitress I commonly have when I go there is very friendly, to be honest the service at Tomatina is 5*STARS! if you haven’t tried the Orecchiette Carbonara it’s a must.

Tomatina has gotten much better, as long as you stick to the items you know you like. I get the spaghetti and meatballs regularly and they have been consistently good. The service is usually friendly and quick. I’m a bit disappointed they got rid of their bread and replaced with thin breadsticks, which I think are terrible. They’re always hard, crunchy, thin, stale and tasteless. Bring back some decent bread!

Great food great service. The waiter gave our garlic rolls to another table by mistake, so they brought new one and didn’t charge us. Those garlic rolls are heaven:) We also had pasta and pizza sand everything was great. The service was very good, the host and waiters were great.

The service and ambiance were fine considering it was a restaurant at the mall. Prices were a little higher than you’d expect but not too crazy. Their downfall is the quality of their food. I had yet to find an Italian restaurant I didn’t like until I tried Tomatino. We started with Bruschetta as an appetizer and it was gross. The purpose of Bruschetta is to show off the quality and freshness of your basil and tomatoes, the simpler the better. I don’t even think that you could call this Bruschetta. It looked and tasted processed, almost like goop that came from a can covered with unnecessary cheese. The best Bruschetta I’ve ever had did not have any cheese at all. Also tried the Cesar salad and pasta. Both were edible but bland; the pasta was dry and the salad too much dressing. Nothing I couldn’t easily do better in my own kitchen. My kids had the cheese pizza and they didn’t like that either. They claimed it was too dry(not enough sauce and cheese perhaps?). It’s too bad their food is so poor because it is such a convenient location. I did not try the desserts. If you want Italian food in Marin I would instead recommend Il Fornaio in Corte Madera or Picco in Larkspur. Those places are fancier than Tomatino, but even compared to other chain restaurants I think that places like Strings, Johny Carino’s, and Olive Garden blow this place out of the water.

One of the best Italian restaurant in Marin! Love their pizza and piadine! The only awkward thing with them is the reward system, which has changed twice in 2 years and is a waste of time!

Always great food — very nice laid back atmosphere. I come here every time I’m in the area for business. Fresh ingredients, served in yummy creative ways. Don’t be fooled by its location in a mall. Definitely worth a visit.

Ok overall. I’ve been twice, I had a great lunch. The spicy feta broccoli and cauliflower was delicious. The dinner was not as great. The Spaghetti dish I ordered could have been something I made at home. My dates calzone was pretty sad as well. They lumped all the meet in one part of the pocket.

I have heard good things about this restaurant and got a chance to try it recently. Nice and clean… though we went when it first opened for the day and not many people were in yet. I always fun when they give you complimentary bread while you wait. You can see everything is made fresh, as the kitchen is open to see. I had the caprese piadine, which was delicious. A salad and flatbread turned sandwich was an excellent choice for me, especially right after the holidays. The pizza also looked very good, which I will have to try next time.

Good home style Italian food @ family friendly prices. I wrote a review on Tomatina last autumn. The observations and opinions from then still hold sway. This is an Italian themed eatery that closely mimics the menu, dining room ambience, price point of Mary’s Pizza shack. You know the drill: Lots of comfort food for family dining based on pastas, pizza, Cesar salad, etc… There’s beer & wine for the grown-ups, soft drinks for their kids. The food is done competently, nothing is over the top with epicurean aspirations. The major turn-on for this store is the manager and the staff all round. Everyone is super friendly, helpful, cheery, informed and engaged. During the Unilocal event of 1÷14÷2014 there was one stand out taste for me, it was the mini profiterole style cream puffs. Airy, crunchy creamy goodness. Sumptuous authentic high end Italian cuisine this is not. You and especially your kids will like the palate friendly flavors.

I wish that I could rate them higher but its a little awkward. I really do appreciate their free pizza this afternoon so what’s not to like? I should be ecstatic that they even offered free pizza. Never complain with your mouth full, right. Ok. So here it is. Five stars for the free pizza offer. How cool was that. I subtract a point because people could not eat the pizza there. We managed to sit down but as soon as we did, they were telling everyone else to move on. Meanwhile, the restaurant was pretty empty. We were the only ones on the outdoor patio. Now, if it were my business and I did a give away, Id want the customers to stay, order something to drink, experience the place and hope they come back. But its not my business and they did not ask me. Instead we got the stink eye and felt like, «here have some pizza and now get out» Then I subtract a star for the pizza. Yes, the one I got was nice and hot. Crust was thin and fresh. Flavor was merely ok but it was also very greasy. Would I come back for the pizza? Probably not. Before I went in though I was talking to a regular and she attested to very good pastas and salads. So thank you for the free pizza, it wasn’t too bad, but wish I did not feel unwelcome eating there. Next time I’ll try something else.
