Steve Oliphant has been my mortgage broker and realty financial consultant for many years, and many life transitions. For his wisdom, experience, ethics, kindness, and generosity of time and spirit, he is unsurpassable. In an era of self-​serving materialism, Steve is an anomaly. You would be lucky to have him working with and for you.

As a first time home buyer I found Stevens calm, thorough approach invaluable in what would otherwise be an overwhelming process.

I have known Steve for over 20 years and had the pleasure of working for a few years in the same office where Steve was always a top producer… and for good reason. Whenever I felt stumped because of a complexity that I didn’t understand, I would try to see Steve to get some clarity. He was always helpful, patient, and informed, and and I was comforted knowing I had a mentor in a complex business who really knew his stuff.

We have used several different mortgage brokers in the past and Steve is by far the most knowledgeable, honest, and efficient. Without hesitation I called Steve again when it was time to move and get a new loan.
He is quick in responding to all my questions and when we needed an approval letter he sent it immediately to guarantee our offer was accepted.
I can’t say enough wonderful things about our several experiences in working with him. I highly recommend Steve.

Steve was the best mortgage broker I could have imagined. He got me the best interest rate I could find and he was able to close an incredibly complicated short sale purchase. We worked together for over six months on the short sale including a final month of daily phone calls as the deal got more and more complicated and stressful. He is incredibly smart (has a PhD in mathematics) and very knowledgeable about real estate financing (he has been a mortgage broker for over 25 years).
In addition to getting this complicated deal done, he was very easy to work with. He was personable but not too chatty — he got down to business and never wasted my time. He was also always available to explain the details of financing costs as many times as I needed to hear it in order to understand. He was very patient and trustworthy.
I’ve recommended him a number of times and will continue to without hesitation. He was excellent. 5 well deserved stars.
He has an mortgage brokerage office in San Rafael and is also available via phone. I was able to do everything via phone and email because I live in Berkeley.
