I’ve been going to Silbs since I could remember. I have fond memories of eating bubble gum ice cream after soccer games, or going there after school to visit my friends who worked there. Their mint chip is delicious, brownie fudge is superb, and their rocky road is amazing. This is hands down the best ice cream place in Marin! I also highly recommend their strawberry, so yummy! Only thing I would recommend is that they get a credit card machine and not charge .75 for debit cards.

Hands down best ice cream in Marin and one of the best in the Bay Area! This cute shop is right up there with the big names like Fenton’s, BiRite, and Mitchell’s. I love the chocolate orange chip and Bourdeaux cherry! It would be nice if they accepted credit cards.

It’s our local spot. My wife has been coming since she was a kid and it was Swenson’s. The ice cream here is really good. It is overpriced, I suppose… but we don’t go that often so we give it a pass. It’s not cash only, but bring cash because they charge .75 to use the ATM. Overall, a nice spot, with good ice cream for the neighborhood.

Great ice cream… that employee Taylor really needs to get her act together though. Horrible slow service.

My mom used to take us here after school when we were little guys back in the early 90s. It was fantastic then and it is just as fantastic now. A little on the expensive side, but the quality ingredients are worth it. Try their pumpkin ice cream in the fall!

I had a very good experience here ordering an ice cream cake for my daughter’s Birthday party back in February. Plan A for the cake fell through so I had to call Silbermann’s the afternoon before the day of the party, which I feared was not enough of a lead time for a custom cake since their website said they needed 24 hours notice. I called anyway to see and they were able to accommodate me. The cake was ready on time and it looked perfect. It tasted wonderful too. I got many compliments on the taste of the cake. They saved the day!

I love this place, but beware… There are NO brownie chunks in the chocolate brownie chunk. It was a huge disappointment.

What a wonderful find. An old fashioned ice cream parlor with dozens of flavors made on site — and each delicious. We found this through Unilocal when on vacation in the area and it was a great experience. Hard to find a good banana split or hot fudge sundae anymore but this is as good as it gets. Great service, clean and attractive shop with all you could ask for in ice cream.

I’ve been here a couple of times now. It has really good house made ice cream and sherbet. They have interesting flavors. I had cookie dough this time and peanut butter ice cream with fudge swirl in it this time. My other family member had pineapple coconut sherbet. They don’t have much seating inside, but they do have patio seating out front. They are near the Verizon store in the Safeway plaza. They are kind of hard to see. They have been in business since making happy customers since 1966. I can tell why because the product is excellent.

I have mixed emotions walking into Silbermann’s. It makes me happy and melancholy at the same time. I love that it reminds me of the ice cream parlors I visited as a child, but a little sad that places like it are getting rare. It’s like watching Betty White; a wonderful remnant of a bygone era that you hope will be around a long time, but you can’t be sure. So you enjoy it while you can, just in case. No gimmicks here; no singing, no using ice-cold marble to mix up your gummy bears and bubble gum into stale hardened ice cream. When you look at the ice cream, you see colors that you want to consume; no blue, teal, or neons. This place is wonderfully old school. I assume it’s still family owned, because it feels like it. Friendly staff, clean tables, and you can even look through a window into the ice cream making room. They make it all onsite. Oh right, the ice cream. I was surprised when I took my first bite. The ice cream was soft, fresh, and delicious. I rarely eat ice cream, but I guess I had become accustomed to eating elderly ice cream at places like the old Larkspur Baskin Robbins. What a pleasant surprise. Maybe I’ll start eating ice cream more often… It’s great that we still have family-run businesses that clearly take pride in their product and their customer service.

My family has been enjoying Silbermann’s ice cream for decades! My parents took us out after every band concert, soccer game, etc… When I called to purchase a gift certificate as a Christmas gift for my Dad, Sonya Silbermann and her staff went above and beyond the call of duty to help me purchase the certificate and have it delivered to my Dad before Christmas. Thanks Sonya! P. S. My favorite flavors when I was twelve years old: bubble gum and lemon custard

This place doesn’t «take me back» because their prices are very 2014 Bay Area, but their payment options are not! No matter how good your ice cream is, if you’re going to charge that much for it, you need to accept credit cards. That is how most people pay for things now. Donut shops can get away with being cash only because donuts cost under a dollar. Silbermann’s ice cream is $ 3.25-$ 5 for a single scoop. For a group of 2 or 3, that’s $ 7-$ 10 minimum. People don’t carry cash anymore. And no one wants to pay your $ 0.75 debit card fees when your ice cream is already expensive! That being said, I heard it is some very good ice cream. My kids love it, and there is a good variety of flavors. I love to support local business but not when they are cash only or charge you a fee to pay with a credit card! Even street vendors, food trucks, farmers market tents accept credit cards. They use Square!

Actual food. But it’s ice cream too. When did ice cream turn into frozen concoction instead of food? Anyhow, this is probably how you’d make it if you made it yourself. Not fancy, but still excellent

This place was the bomb for ice cream. I got the chocolate raspberry truffle. It was delicious all the way. I really enjoyed the hell out of it. While enjoying that, We watched the guy in back making some toffee crunch ice cream. He came out and offered us some. The texture was so smooth and delicious flavor. Got a mouthful of some chocolate crunch thingys in there too. It was glorious. It made my chocolate raspberry truffle ice cream look like trash. At least I got to fully enjoy it before spoiling it with a more delicious flavor. I’ll be back for more of that. One thing I’m dying to see is the Mt Tam sundae… it’s like $ 28. I’m wondering how big it is and if anyone gets it or sees it, please post a pic! Inquiring minds must know. I can’t be the only one.

Cool place that takes you back. Specially when you try to sit down and realize that the table and the seat are placed closed together so that heavier folks might rethink ordering ice cream. Luckily they also have the low fat variety. If you’re sucker for local family owned and traditional ice creams, definitely check this place out. If you’re on a heavy side and worried about the seats, they do have a couple of big booths in the back!

A bit of a disappointment, as the grand reviews of this place made me think that it was the Ici’s of the North Bay. But, it’s not. One big plus to this place is that they have TONS of flavors, although I wasn’t incredibly impressed by any of them. I think that they’re too sweet for one to want to eat the whole scoop(they’re really big). So, when you try a sample, it seems like a great idea, but when you get the cone or the cup, halfway through, you’re ready to give up because the overwhelmingly amount of sweet that you have been consuming is just too much. Tip: bring CASH. Debit cards are accepted, but there is $ 0.75 fee for using it.
