Relax and Be Free Massage & Spa Services

Though I would agree with other reviews that Amanda Snow and her Relax and Be Free Massage & Spa Services business was an excellent 1 ½ hour session, I cannot and do NOT recommend her for prospective clients seeking the best massage AND treatment. Both aspects are important especially when there are so many trained and competent massage body workers available to choose between today. I will try to be brief and to the point.
I came to Amanda through Unilocal and had only one massage with her on February 28, 2016. Her «spiritual» approach as expressed in reviews and her website drew me in. However, in retrospect now 5 weeks later, I’m sorry to say that she showed an extreme lack of communication, which in turn was disrespectful and a deterrent to me, a new prospective client.
From the first visit, I noticed what I would call an «unnatural» inflection and expression in her voice. It reminded me of past days around spiritual communities where members were trying to adopt an air of spirituality, rather than just being themselves. Specifically, Amanda started off by saying something like, «Firm believer in warming up beforehand…» (referring to getting the body warm before starting massage). However, it was the unnaturalness of her voice and communication that was immediately noticeable. She didn’t just say, like a normal person would talk, «I’m a firm believer in warming up beforehand, etc.»
I personally started on a spiritual path at age 17 with a meditation practice, so I’ve had a lot of experience and growing understanding and compassion for others. I don’t particularly derive happiness from this review but feel it’s important to be truthful in the hope that others will be forewarned. And that perhaps Amanda will reflect on her communications and how they affect others.
While on the massage table, I made some conversation at different times. That I especially loved the music in the room, She did not respond at all. I asked her if she knew her address (155) was a «holy» number. She said she did not, but didn’t inquire why I said that. She gave a feeling of not being responsive. I also mentioned that her «voice» sounded like a woman I met who gives «Satsang» (spiritually oriented meetings) named Pamela Wilson. I suggested Amanda listen to Pamela’s voice on YouTube to hear the resemblance.
After the massage, she said I could pay with credit card but I wanted to pay in cash. I know that professionals appreciate receiving cash. I included a 20% gratuity. I asked Amanda about purchasing «packets» (a group of massages that her website indicated she offered at a discount rate). She responded that I could email her later, to just be with the effects of the massage.
I felt that Amanda wanted to send me off and wasn’t really available to talk for a few minutes. So I left and reminded her to listen to Pamela Wilson.
After I arrived home, I texted Amanda and thanked her for her gift of massage. NO response (then or ever). The next day I emailed her and asked about her packages. NO response. I waited a couple days and emailed her again, indicating that I realize that she must be very busy.
Finally she wrote me back and said that she may be going back east to help a family member post operation and recovery. She was assessing her schedule. However, she wrote that she didn’t want to offer a package deal at that time (in so many words). Now that did not make any sense to me. A package of massages is used over many weeks or months and the fact that Amanda was planning on going back east temporarily would not affect that. Plus I remembered that she did not respond to me asking about packages while I was at her home office after my massage. It didn’t add up. It wasn’t logical.
I wrote back commending Amanda on going back east to help a family member. I asked when she might return. Again no response.
In a few days she finally replied that one of her family members was to have a heart operation and that she didn’t know when she was going back east. She wrote that she «sensed» that she should «pause» on appointments and would «circle back» to me when she was ready to resume massage with clients, etc. I sensed something was «off».
I wrote Amanda back and expressed that my dad had two heart operations (bypass surgery and a stint for the arteries). I wrote that my experience was the operations were immediately successful and that there really wasn’t a period of post op recovery needed. I was trying to convey to Amanda a sense of relief, that in today’s world those operations are common and with excellent doctors, recovery is quick. I mentioned that one thing we can do for someone is attempt to council them on diet and exercise, routines that may have contributed to the cause in the first place. No response from Amanda.
A few weeks elapsed and I sent Amanda an email hoping all was well. No response! I cannot recommend her lack of harmonious communication I experienced. Choose a masseuse who cares genuinely.

From the minute you walk into her healing sanctuary, you are immersed in beauty, serenity and warmth, and then immediately begin to feel her powerful and grounded presence that gives you permission to let go and release. She has an amazing attention to detail in everything she does and you feel completely held for the entire session. I’m impressed with her range of healing modalities– everything from delicate flower essences and essential oils, to mindful and healing massage and touch, to powerful and transformative shamanic practices, and one of my faves– the sound and vibrational healing of tuning forks. These are just the ones I’ve experienced, but no doubt she knows more… I highly recommend her!

Amanda was wonderful. She was very attentive to what we were looking for, and made a point to ask both my boyfriend and I if we had any specific areas that we wanted her to either focus on or avoid. It was also nice that she came to our hotel room for the massages, due to a partnership with Mill Valley Inn, where we were staying.
I also really enjoyed the fact that our one hour session with her was a mixture of traditional massage as well as full-​body energy focused. I’m probably not doing the actual practice justice, but it was a clarifying and relaxing experience.

Amanda is the masseuse you want to tell your friends about. She is deeply intuitive and highly skilled, knowing just where to focus and how much pressure to administer. The aromatherapy is delicately applied, and the tuning forks get your whole body sensitized for optimal healing. I often buy gift certificates for my loved ones, wishing them the same exquisite experience I receive on her table. Will never go anywhere else!

Amanda is an awesome massage therapist who understands the body and massage as a healing art. She gets a lot of leverage in the right spots and is a professional. Clearly has a passion for the work and creates a very calm and restorative space.

I was staying at the Embassy and saw the massage info and booked my first appt with Amanda. Wow ! My back pain eased and I was able to start working out again. So far I have lost 39 pounds in 10 weeks thru proper nutrition, massage, and working out.

I started meeting with Amanda as I was recovering from surgery that was needed to remove a tumor. I went to our first session expecting an ordinary, relaxing but not life changing massage. I was right that it was relaxing but wrong about ordinary. Amanda is more than the average masseuse; she is a healer. I know very little about body work involving energy and chakras, but I do know how I feel after meeting with Amanda. I feel restored and balanced. The only problem is that ever having an ordinary massage again will likely feel disappointing, but I can live with that :) I highly highly recommend Amanda; she is about as awesome as it gets!

If you are looking for a very nurturing, therapeutic and relaxing massage, I encourage you to see Miss Amanda. Her energy is absolutely angelic! She is very gentle and is very throughout in what she does. The tuning forks she uses are very special as as she is. Take the time and give her a call. You will not be disappointed.

Amanda is completely amazing. I heard about her magical treatments from the lovely ladies at Purevana and was dying to try her massage therapy. Her elegant, intuitive use of tuning forks, aromatherapy, deep tissue and other modalities will send you off into a blissful state. After our first session I was so dazed that I napped for hours afterward. If you want to heal yourself, this is the place to be.

I like massage, but aromatherapy and tuning forks have always sounded kind of fluffy to me. I get it now. Throughout the massage she used various scented oils and I would get random impressions of my big sister’s perfume or being in a forest. It was like being transported. The tuning forks were strangely invigorating, I was worried it would be annoying like insect buzzing, but they resonate so deeply it was like a giant floating by. When they were applied to my spine I could feel this soothing vibe all the way to my fingertips. It was a great massage and she found the right pressure.
Just really great immersive super relaxing and what I needed.

Yesterday I had the most amazing, nurturing massage from Amanda Snow of Relax and Be Free Massage. I came in with intense back pain and she took such wonderful care of me. She added her tuning forks, reflexology, and her incredible cranial sacral therapy, and I felt like I was in heaven. She has such a healing touch and her intuition and guidance was just what I needed to hear. Thank you Amanda! You are an Angel!

I’ve seen Amanda twice for prenatal massage throughout my pregnancy. The first time was at about six months, and then I just had another at nine months along. What can I say, she is absolutely amazing! Not only does she have a healing touch that relaxes the body, she also incorporates other practices that satisfy the senses and calm the mind. Her use of aromatherapy sprays throughout the hour and a half encouraged the body to soften, yet heightened the mind just enough to keep me present throughout our time. She also used tuning forks to help clear my body’s energy lines. I’ve always intuitively known that this practice was powerful, but feeling the baby respond positively to the vibration I now have proof.
One thing that I didn’t expect this last massage to do was to prepare me for a successful labor and delivery. Being present, awake, yet totally relaxed is what I am aiming for when this little boy decides to arrive. When the time comes, I am going to draw upon my experience with Amanda as the guiding light for what to do when the intensity starts. I will tap back into that calming center and trance-​like state that was created in her studio space to help get me through.
For expecting mothers, I highly recommend Amanda for prenatal massage, and regular massage as well.
