I have taken my girlfriend’s car to Pro Auto several times and couldn’t be happier. They could have very easily charged us a thousand or more dollars than they did. Philip is as honest as they come and the car runs like new.

Great mechanics: knowledgable, professional, quick and honest. I take my cars for oil changes and bigger projects like suspension upgrades, clutch replacement and tune ups. While my Honda was still under warranty and in for an oil change Phillip pointed out some problems with the seals and motor mounts. I was able to bring the car into Honda service and show them the pictures Pro Auto took so that the warranty repair could be made at no charge. Best mechanic in Marin!

I’ve been going to Pro Auto Service for years. Phillip and crew are very competent mechanics and extremely fair. Most of the work I need is minor but they’ve done some medium-​sized projects on our cars. Often I can just drop off the car without an appointment for oil changes. The shop is on 4th street so I just grab a coffee, lunch or make some work calls and the car is ready in less than an hour. I ended up on Unilocal finding the number to get our Mazda’s brakes checked.

In December I brought my son’s first car, a 15 year old Saab coupe for inspection. What we thought was amoderate power steering problem became a blown gasket and contaminated oil, a nasty job that costs a lot of money and takes significant time to repair. Phillip and his crew at Pro Auto were very reserved in their approach with us but completely honest throughout. We had them do the required work. Because it required the use of machine shop, we had a longer than normal waiting period but once the car was reassembled it ran better than it ever had. Since picking up the car from the shop on the final day it has worked better than before and with no hiccups. These are honest, knowledgable professionals. It’s wonderful to have this business in the neighborhood.

Honestly, I used to be an avid reviewer but not for some time have I felt compelled to write one. Pro Auto is amazing. John is a magician. I took my Honda in because the trunk latch had failed and I was in desperate need to get what was inside. He worked his magic and had me in and out inside of an hour. I was shocked my how reasonable and low the price was. Take your car here and you’ll be pleasantly surprised!

I use this place for my oil changes and all minor things. I already have a mechanic, Lawrence automotive, who happens to lease his space at this place. I love him but if he ever left the country, I would then go to these people for everything. Reasonable prices, nice and competent with no arrogance, plus, I feel I can trust them. Why go to Jiffy lube when these guys do it for $ 29.

So I went into this place blind and ignorant. This is a happy ending though, as I was very pleasantly surprised.
I brought in my Audi A4 for a smog and because it needed some work and it wouldn’t start and I needed to smog it.
They did the work, no problem. What is more, because I was not able to pick up the car right away (and I told him to take his time because I was in the middle of a move and had no place to put my car) he held onto it for a while and didn’t charge me extra storage fees or any of that nonsense. The work was done, it seemed fair, he didn’t nickel and dime me and I think this is the beginning of a good relationship. Labor $ 96 p/​hr and oil changes are cheap $ 29.
