This is a great little park for kids to safely play and a nice big green space for people and dogs. Fits the neighborhood perfectly. Hoops or tennis, the noise stays in the park while all the people play. Play more, you’ll like it…

This would be a good park if only there were some shade. Given how hot it is most of the year in SR, why is there no shade for the kiddies? Two different climbing structures, 2 baby swings, 2 big swings and a sand pit. This place gets busy with the locals.

I came to this park on my quest to find the perfect park to lay on a blanket and read. The majority of the park is an open field overlooked by houses and surrounded by a sidewalk that loops all the way around, and has park benches along the way. There’s also a fenced-in playground which looks fun, and they have a basketball court and what I think is a racquetball court. And there’s a nice clean bathroom hut. The funny thing about this park is it feels like you’re technically in a neighborhood and are trespassing, but the sign says City of San Rafael so pretty sure it’s open to the public. Street parking is easy and it wasn’t too crowded on a warm Saturday afternoon. It isn’t a super-outdoorsy park, since there’s really just structures and grass, no trees and no view except the back of peoples’ houses. It feels like a safe contained area, and seems like a good place for a picnic gathering since it has such a big field. No bbqs unfortunately. :(And man that open field would make for a great soccer game!

I really like this little park, especially as compared to Corte Madera Town Park( ). Los Ranchitos is a much smaller park and playground. There is NOSHADE here whatsoever, but what I enjoy about the space is it is small, clean, has very well kept bathrooms, a little paved sidewalk looping the fenced playground that kiddos can ride tricycles on and a neighboring field people use to play with their dogs, throw frisbees or whatever. There is also a basketball court here. I love this park because of its quietness. Even on the weekends it never seems crowded. Another fantastic feature is that you can sit on any of the benches in the playground and have a line of site on everything within the fence. This is a HUGE benefit when you have more than one child!
