La Hacienda Taqieria Restaurant

Living in WA state now, I really miss the chicken nachos here. We came at least once a week for months… Can’t wait to come back and eat when we’re back in town visiting.

Place is down the street from so I thought I would give it a try.
The service was subpar. My friend and I were hardly greeted when we came in. I order the veggie enchilada. It was only one enchilada with rice and beans for $ 12, like seriously, and it was so unflavorful. My friend ordered wine and as munching on the chips, as she came to keep me company since I hadn’t eaten lunch yet that day. When she wanted more, they were no where to be found, when I did find them, they gave me attitude about asking for more, and took more than ten minutes to bring them.
In short, I will not be back. Not worth the price, the level of food or service.
Take the extra time and trek downtown San Rafael at least for some Mexican, or save it all together and go to the city for some real stuff at a worthy price and service.

This place needs more love and support. I love the fact that its clean. I love all those ladies walking around and taking care of the business. Places with ladies look better and the food tastes better too.
So far I had taco salad, macha burrito and quesadilla suiza. All good and reasonable pricing. Come and eat here!

This is truly a hidden gem! The service and the food is excellent! And they just recently added a fish menu. Not too pricy. My favorite is the guacamole. All fresh ingredients. Glad we found it.

Great service and the food was delish… Huge portions of food and home made drink specials. It’s a diamond in the rough so don’t judge based on its appearance.

had the enchiladas de mariscos, flavorful and no skimping on the shrimps. great friendly servers too.
if you’re looking for fancy Mexican food best to look somewhere else, but if you want good Mexican food it’s the place to go.

Dinner tonight was very good. I’m a big fan of chili rellenoes and these are about as good as I’ve had. Everyone enjoyed their dinner. Huge plates of food. Great service, clean, low key, what’s not to like.

I used to work in San Rafael. I’m not sure why a lot of my coworkers always ate at High Tech Burrito. This place is much better and actually serves authentic Mexican food. Their portions are pretty large and I have yet to be disappointed with any of their dishes. Only thing is if you have a short lunch break, be sure to call your order in ahead of time. The serve time tends to lag during lunch hour.

Tried it for the first time last Saturday at lunch. Had a combo plate (taco, enchilada). It was pretty good, and the place was clean and well maintained. Service friendly and prompt. Overall, nothing unusual. I would probably say 3.5 stars, but good, and I would definitely go back. The location is not really on the way to anything, but not far from the Marin Civic Center, and there aren’t many quick food options in this area (except McD’s and A&W, so…).

Since Mexican food is practically our official state cuisine and people can be hella snobby about it, let me just acknowledge right off that this may not be the «best» Mexican food, per se. BUT. La Hacienda is right by my house, they almost never screw up our order, the staff is super friendly, they have THE BEST chips and salsa verde and they are fresh and fast: I can call in my order for the entire family and pick it up ten minutes later. A couple of times, when the regular cook wasn’t there, my chile relleno was soggy. That, and the one employee who never gives me the extra chips and salsa I ask for, are the only negative things I have to say. Even my SF BFF likes it.

Huge fan of this place! It’s the real deal. They serve warm, freshly made tortilla chips with 3 different tasty salsas. And the tacos and the huaraches are amazing. The atmosphere is pretty low key – definitely a very easy weeknight dinner spot if you want good healthy-​ish food without spending a ton of money.

Horrible service, food spotty to say the least… please learn and listen to the orders given. better customer service .and clean it too… not ever going back after last meal there this week… too many other better places to eat in San Rafael.

If you want take out, order in advance. Whether there’s one or two customers inside eating or it’s packed, most take-​out orders made inside take 15 – 20 minutes to complete.
When you eat there, it’s hit or miss with the service. I have had brilliant experiences with waiters that are friendly and very attentive. My orders when during these experiences come out perfect and delicious. But when the service is off…
In my last experience where I took out my parents for a meal, we had a very overwhelmed waitress. It appeared the staff was on the thin side that afternoon and they had someone trying to help her that kept returning with the wrong thing (thus complicating the waitress’s already busy service time). For example, my mom ordered a regular coke and kept receiving diet (that’s what this helper claimed she heard). While we were four total, this helper kept bringing things in threes (three ice waters, three silverware sets, three serving plates… etc.). The service, in general, was extremely off this day and food coming from the kitchen was much slower than usual. I have had similar experiences of slowness and lack of staff before but not to this extreme. It felt like a Monty Python sketch of «There’s 3 people – No 4 people…» and «You wanted A, but I heard B…»
If the food was awful, I wouldn’t come back with the inconsistency in waitstaff. But their burritos and enchiladas are excellent. So I’m a sucker and will continue to frequent here.

My boyfriend and I live right next door to this place so we frequent it often, sometimes once a week. I keep coming back because of how convenient it is and the food is pretty ok, but literally every time we order food from here they mess up my order. I’ve called in the order, had him order it for me, ordered it in person and EVERY TIME it’s not right. Super burrito with NO SALSA and extra sour cream, why can you never be right for me?!?

Decided to come here today for lunch while the wife was off in St. Helena/​Napa area and our son was at paintball.
The food here is always fresh and sizzling hot. They have a extensive menu even for the non-​carnivores.
I was told when a Mexican restaurant serves shredded beef that is a sign of good food.
I ordered the two enchiladas with beans and rice, one shredded beef and shredded chicken. The chips and salsa are good addition to the meal.
We like to come here for their Margaritas which area reasonably priced.
The food was made and served in an expeditiously manner, caught me off guard.
It seemed like I just ordered and «poof» there was the food.
Definitely will return, actually one of my favorite Mexican restaurants in Marin County

Ordered a super burrito which supposed to come with a sauce. They wrapped it give it to me in a to go bag which I didn’t ask as to go. There were several people inside eating their food every n though its past 9 which they supposed to close. When I asked for a sauce I was told it does not come with it when its to go order, well I didn’t order to go and paid extra for the sauce… The answer I get is you ordered to go…

I could eat the taco salad every day! The bowl does not have that greasy disgusting taste. Tastes freshly fried. I only wish that there was a bit more lettuce, but it’s still all delicious! I end up eating the whole thing every time, even when I’m not hungry.
The last time I came in, I was with a huge party. There ended up being a couple of mix-​ups, but our waitress never batted an eye, just fixed the mistakes. And no charge for over X number of people.

You always know when a taqueria is going to be good when the chips and salsa are delicious. Nothing worse than stale, hard, bad chips. Not La Hacienda! The chips were crispy and light. I go the carnitas quesadilla, which included guacamole and sour cream. Tasty stuff! My husband got the enchilada suiza with a chile rellenos. It was so much food, but because it was so good, he got through most of it.
Service was pleasant and quick. Good Mexican food stop!

This place really feels like eating at home in MX. Music, people and even the paintings are very Mexican.

Yum yum yum. No frills but classic authentic Mexican! Had chicken burrito and it was delicious! Will be back!
