I was walking down the street saw the menu and decided to go in and have dinner. I tried the nachos which were great and I think I only paid $ 3 for a huge plate. I’ll be back often to have the nachos.

Enjoyed a nice brunch here on Superbowl Sunday. Great food, great prices, great atmosphere, incredible service. The owner was delightful!

Went to see my friends perform on Tuesday night. Show was supposed to start at 9:30. Show didn’t start until 11. Something was wrong with the sound equipment and the bartender didn’t want to call the owner and ask for help. Sounds shady to me. Also she didn’t want people beyond the bar in the sitting area. Why can’t people sit at tables? They were waiting for the show to start and she told them all to move to the front of the place. Them she didn’t want any of the performers touching any of the equipment cus she didn’t want anything to come up stolen. How are they supposed to perform then? She also mentioned that she didn’t care if the music show went on or not because it was very«ghetto and violent» and it will start«trouble“m why even have the people there for the show on Tuesday in the first place?. Stupid bitch.

Came for salsa dancing last night and we were incredibly disgusted with the attitude of the owner. Apparently there’s a different pricing system for Anglos? After I mentioned that the bartender had told us it was $ 10, the owner was defensive from there on out. I said the man before us(new dance partner friend) had been charged less. 1. She blamed our friend’s claim with the statement, «oh the drunk man? He’s lying.» Pretty brazen comment! 2. She blamed the bartender and instead of waving the miscommunication, told the bartender she was going to take it out of HERPAY!!! At the end of the evening, I explained that I didn’t appreciate the business practice and the owner continued to make excuses. I told her that it’s not about the piddly pricing, it’s the lack of cordiality I didn’t appreciate. She finally said that NEXT time we came in she’d refund the money… then said she’d let us in free. Like I’m going back? No thanks. Couple that with a crowd of about twenty/thirty people? Nyeh.

This place has such potential. It has amazing space to dance and mingle and there aren’t enough spaces like that in Marin. We went a couple weeks ago to see comedian Scott Capurro. The place was embarrassingly dead. But I have a bit of insight as to why… A week before the event, we went online to try to purchase tickets. They weren’t sold out. But the website kept giving an error that said something like«error with purchasing agent.» So we thought. ok, we’ll head down to Georges and pick up tickets. The website says they open at 4pm, the door says they open at 3pm. The reality is that we checked at 3pm, 4pm, 6pm, and 7pm and the doors never opened. I guess they must only be open on nights they have events. But I was not deterred. We kept trying and eventually found a live human to help us. One sole bartender at 9pm with a handful of patrons. So the evening before the show, we were able to purchase tickets online after they fixed their website. However, what about all of those people out there who weren’t as persistent? Well, they gave up so the place was nearly empty. Now the night comes. The place is empty(see above). So why did it take the bartenders(which almost outnumbered patrons) 20 minutes to come to our table to ask if we needed anything to drink? Yeah, I don’t know either. And refills? Well, my hubby was kind enough to do the honors for us. My hubby, the mean guy who made the bartender stop FBing on his smartphone and pour 4 drinks. Whew, that was hard. Unfortunately, the place still gets some stellar acts. So we’ll probably be back. But you can bet your booty I’ll be bringing a flask.

Stay away! This place is a ripoff! $ 33 for 2 draft lagunitas IPAs, 1 coke off the tap, and two bartender experimental shots that I didn’t even ask for(jäger and fireball mixed together). WTF?!? Really? That’s like $ 8 drafts, $ 8 shots I didn’t order, and token $ 1 for a coke? Or is it 7s and a $ 5 coke? Seriously, this place is sheisty.

Gosh, this place and its management need to be changed up. All in all, I would recommend to avoid the place. I was there this past weekend 4⁄4 and had a terrible experience. Way understaffed to start. I had paid $ 50 for two tickets to a show and the«private bar» for paying customers didn’t even open until 10pm(show started at 9). Waited in line at the main bar for(and this is absolutely no exaggeration) 40 minutes to get two beers and was only served when a woman behind me in line yelled at the bar tender to serve us. There was a line of about 30 people(must of whom had paid good money for tickets) and we were completely ignored by the two bar tenders. When we asked for service, the one bar tender said«sorry, I am working the other side of the bar.» The fact Georges is charging prime prices for tickets that in the end give you basically nothing more than the privilege to stand on a crowded dance floor, or if you are lucky, get a table to order some bar food, is a bit shocking. There is really no reason to buy a ticket to most shows as you can clearly hear and see most of the stage w/o paying and will get equal(or even better service) sitting at the main bar. From the terrible logistics and under staffing, to the poor layout and strange vibe, this place is a good place to skip. Many other better venues for live music/drinks/food in Marin and the Bay Area and absolutely no reason to give your business to a place that clearly has put revenue first and customers and their experience second.

NEWOWNER. Use to be good but now it’s crap. 4÷4÷14 show sold out and only 1 bar open. Back one closed. Only 2 bartenders. Waitress… that’s right only 1… did not know what Makers Mark was and everything at bar was half empty. No vodka, no bottled water. Food served 90 minutes after ordering… IF you were lucky enough to get an order placed. Lame

Great place for bands to play! Fun place with a full bar, plenty of seating and great food. We have seen Scott Cupporo, who is a very funny comedian who is not afraid to say what’s on his mind(in a funny way of course). We also saw Fleetwood Mask. They are a GREAT Fleetwood Mac cover band. The lead singer looks and sings exactly like Stevie Nicks.

Don’t ever buy the general admission tickets! They are standing room only and there is no where to stand and still see the stage. Total waste of money! If I were ever to come back I would spend the extra money to get a VIP table but I doubt I’ll ever go back

Gave this bar a second chance for happy hour. It was a totally different and improved experience! No loud music, in fact no music at all. Saddled up to the bar with a ton of fun regulars. We all got some very delicious happy hour appetizers that were dirt cheap. Pork and fish tacos were so good, both had a «brightness» about them. $ 4 drinks were poured by Ken the bartender, who obviously has a following from the Lighthouse. I can see why!

Really great ambient music here and after a live band that was lively and local. Ken is running this place with the same congenial and inviting attitude that he had at the Lighthouse. Reason number one to come here is for the genuine conversation with Ken and non-judge mental attitude. The buffalo wings are incredible and I’m picky about wings. Here are pics. It’s nice to be in here with more lighting and actually a clean floor! So happy they serve until 1:30am Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Let me start with the positive — this is a fun place to dance and mix/mingle with Marin-ites who are under the age of 40. Let’s face it — there aren’t many venues for younger people to shake their booty in Marin. So I’m grateful to have George’s in San Rafael. Every once in a while they host a Brazilian Night on Fridays — the band plays a mix of Samba, Funk, Samba Reggae, Brazilian Pop, Hip Hop, Forro and other Latin Styles. What’s not to like, right? Ok — now for the not-so-positive… I came here last Friday. The flyer said it was a 9pm start time. So we arrived around 9ish. It was only a $ 5 cover charge — so no biggie. But then we discovered that the band wasn’t going on until 10pm! So my friend and I just sat there in an empty room and nursed our beers while the band performed their sound-check. Around 10pm or so, people started to fill up the place. Unfortunately, the band didn’t take the stage until 10:45pm! They did have a DJ come out for a while and spin some fun Latin beats until the band decided to show up. So here’s the ironic thing — the band was just ok(not great) — but the fact is, more folks danced to the DJ’s music. Listen — my friend and I wound up having a fun time. Is this a great dance venue? No — but it’s ample. Is this a great bar? No, the drinks are a bit pricey, and the bartenders are a little slow. But did we still have fun? Yes, we did! I would come back here… but not until after 10pm. :)

My second time to this venue. The first was a fantastic experience, great band and excellent drinks. The most recent was last Saturday for my birthday. I wanted something local so my group could either taxi home or carpool with a DD. When we arrived I asked the door guy if they’d be willing to do a group discount as we had 15 in our group. They agreed and knocked 5 bucks off each ticket so instead of $ 15.00 each we paid $ 150.00 for the group.(Woohoo! A savings is a savings and I know that extra $ 75.00 went straight to the bar. Speaking of the bar… AWFUL, bad service, wrong drinks kind of bartending going on. Every one of my drinks was wrong and it wasn’t something that you’d be drinking on a tropical island. Kettle, soda and two limes. Pretty basic, no? I got Gin, tonic and lemon… but not all at once those three ingredients where slipped in on each round I ordered. I started to think someone was playing a joke on me. The bands were… so-so. I looked the headliner up on YouTube, they looked pretty fun so we gave it a go. I was unimpressed with the song choices as I felt like I was at my 11 year old daughters slumber party singing along with her«Kids Bop» CD. Over all I think everyone had fun. Definitely not a younger crowd, I would say 40’s and up so to all those young men out there… if older inebriated women are your thing… get on it ;) I probably will not go back unless I know the band is a strong headliner and I slip a flask into my pocket for good measure.

Wow! My husband was the event chair for his work party and chose George’s and we are so impressed! From the detailed organization. Of the pre-planning to the band, food and customer service it is clear George’s places a high value on excellence. As a spouse this is the best ‘hubby’s work party’ I have ever been to. The wait staff is fun and friendly. The food was soooooo good — every single bite — the drinks were fantastic and the band they recommended(Cheeseballs) was incredible! I’m so impressed and will be back for one of their upcoming public events. Thanks for giving us a great night!

Last night I treated my Mom to a comedy show at George’s. I purchased VIP tickets via their website, and had I known they would be assigning seats, I would have asked for a specific table due to my Mom’s mobility issues. When I asked if we could move two tables over which was in the VIP section only two tables down and on a corner, I was told the manager said«no» therefore, I went to talk to him myself. He was shaking his head no the entire time. It was frustrating to explain, but then he agreed, and as we were getting comfortable our waitress came and asked us to sit elsewhere and put us at the opposite end of the VIP booth area. It worked out fine, however, I now know to CALL them after I make a purchase on their website and ask for the table right in front of the DJ booth, or the end table near the back bar that is never used. The service was very slow, we ordered drinks, then about forty minutes later I flagged down the waitress to order food, which arrived about room temp, and our waitress never came back to check on us. About mid way through the show I got her attention and ordered two sodas and asked for refills on water. An forty minutes before the show was over, I went to the bar and purchased the sodas myself, and fifteen minutes later she brought us watered down sodas which were sitting at the cocktail waitress station when I went to the bar, and no water. It shocked me that she brought them, and a bill. I tipped well on the beers, and the food, as well as tipped the bartender when I bought sodas at the bar, but found it rude that she charged us for watered down sodas(ice melted). Also, something that happened to me both times she brought our bill(they no longer run tabs) I had $ 7.30 or $ 7.60 in change coming, but was only given an even $ 7.00 — I’m not sure why, but I find it rude and presumptuous of their staff to keep the«coin» change. We’re going back for two other events this month, but I won’t be paying extra for VIP seating.

I bought tickets for Pete Escovedo — a true legend. Pete and his band sounded amazing. This place is not too big and not too crowded. The drinks are strong and the foods were tasty. Lots of friendly people and great staff. I had to change my tickets several times, as I couldn’t decide on a Friday or Saturday night. They were on top of sending revised copies and guaranteeing an awesome time. The live entertainment was incredible, and I danced the night away to awesome beats!

I haven’t been here since they remodeled and renamed the place. WOW! What a difference a couple of decades makes. Very fine set up wit two bars. My friends band was playing, Wallstreet. Awesome music. Funky, funky, like a monkey. We danced and danced. I emailed Teo prior to the show and asked for a bottle of red wine and he saved a table right in front. Really fun venue.
