In short: Delicious food, creative eating options, and service that is both friendly and accomodating. The missing star is for the only thing the meal was missing: a little spice and fresh(er) beverage options. Longer version: In mid-September, I volunteered with a local non-profit and, to say thank you, they provided us with a delicious lunch catered by Breadfruit Catering Company. Eric, the owner, grilled creative pizza pies, flavorful chicken and short ribs, and crispy romain lettuce on his portable BBQ. Although I couldn’t eat the pizza myself(«boo» to lactose intolerance), all of the other volunteers raved about the Asparagus-Mushroom combination and, for some of the younger volunteers, Eric happily made ‘regular” pepperoni pizza on request. I immersed myself in the BBQ’d short ribs and chicken which he had prepared 3 different ways all of which were full of flavor and absolutely delicious. Although I have seen pizza cooked on a BBQ before, I was a little surprised to see him grill up a few heads of romain lettuce. With a light coating of oil and seasoning, it was grilled until slightly soft and was incredible! I could eat it all day. In general, the food was fantastic — it was enough to feel satisfied without feeling too full to be functional. My personal taste for spices runs a little«hotter» than most Americans, and I had hoped at least one of the BBQ options would have been spicy but I do not doubt that Eric could throw down the spice if you asked him to. I took away a star partially for the lack of spicier food but also because this gourmet meal was served with regular soda(root beer, sprite, coke etc) and boring bottled water and I think it would have been much better complimented by some fresh fruit juice. Still, in all fairness, this might have been a choice made by the person who ordered the catering for us that day. My advice: Definitely call Breadfruit to cater for your next event. I’m sure that, if you request fresh juice and spicier food, you’ll come back and give this place a full 5 star rating.
