Just saw Megan for the first time to put highlights and lowlights in my hair and she did an amazing job! Exactly how I wanted it. She is such a professional and you are in the BEST hands with her. She is also a sweetheart. Love the Aveda products and how beautiful my hair feels after every treatment. Will be going back to get hair extensions. She is a pro! I love this salon and won’t go anywhere else! :)

Courtney is my jam. Seriously, I love her. She has maintained my blonde color for a few years now and I cannot imagine going anywhere else. She always has good recommendations on how to freshen up my color, she gives the best haircuts, and the conversation is easy. ¹⁰⁄₁₀. I live in Fairfield and still travel back to San Rafael once per month to see her. She’s that good.
The other staff are great too. They always greet you and offer coffee/​tea/​water when you arrive. Love this place.

Hands down the best cut and color I’ve ever had. I’m the worst type of client because I never really know what I want. I showed Sophia many pictures pointing out different things that I liked about each one, hoping she’d put together what I want. Sophia is great about making suggestions when you’re indecisive and her talent for color is phenomenal! I’ll never let anyone else touch my hair! It looked like all the stylist here do a pretty good job but Sophia is the best! She is for sure the color queen!

Came back for a deep conditioning treatment and a cut! Sophia is amazing! Walked out with healthier shinier looking hair! I’ll be back!

I have finally found my salon-​home in Marin. I have been three times now, most recently twice with Sophia, and I am so happy. The salon is clean, reasonably priced and best of all has a great stylist like Sophia. Don’t hesitate to book an appointment.

Another beautiful cut and color by Sophia at Bilancio! I won’t trust anyone else with my hair. She gives me great style ideas when I’m not sure what direction I want to go with my hair. I do not have easy hair — mostly curly but I like to straighten it too. Sophia cuts my hair in a way so it always looks great and grows out really nicely. I always get tons of compliments after my appointments with her!

I came here after a highlighting disaster done at another salon. I was scheduled with Megan. She did a fantastic job on my color. There was serious damage, breakage, and even parts of my hair I had to cut off. It was embarrassing to say the least. She was very kind the entire appointment and did a great job. Salon prices are extremely reasonable and fair. The salon is quiet but you’re never left waiting. In and out. I highly recommend this place.

Catherine was quirky, funny and really got what I wanted. I chopped of over 8 inches of hair and never looked back. I feel like a new person. Seriously… want a transformation? Go to Catherine, bring your Pinterest board (or pictures) and surrender yourself to a new look!

This is the best salon in Marin! I would recommend Bilancio to anyone who is looking for excellent style, service and products. Nina has been «in charge» of my hair for many years. She just gave me fabulous Ombré’ highlights with sideswept bangs. I was feeling like I needed a change, so I asked her to work her artistic magic on my hair. I walked out feeling refreshed and excited about my new look. With a busy life, it is nice to turn my styling needs over to Nina. She has never let me down! I also love Joel and the other friendly people at the salon.

Received my perm today, and just when I didn’t think Catherine’s service could get any better, it did.
I felt pampered, relaxed, and beautiful. Catherine is also surrounded by a crack team, and they deserve some thanks, too. So, thanks to Joel, Deb, and Rosanna. My appointment started with a mini massage and ended with a makeup application and a fun photo shoot!
I dare you to find anything better here in Marin or anywhere, for that matter!

I went to this salon when I first moved here a year and a half ago. I usually look up Aveda salons when I move to a new town and have never been disappointed. Until now. I took a picture with me and ended up with the worst haircut I’ve ever had. It’s taken a year and a half to grow it out.
Aside from that, the waiting area for clients was like an afterthought. There were two cheap chairs next to a tiny cheap table by the receptionist. Awkward and uncomfortable. And a woman who seemed to be the owner kept eating something and licking her fingers in plain sight. I’d rather cut my own hair.

Catherine has been cutting my hair since I was 10 years old, and I’ve still yet to find anyone I trust so freely with my hair. This last time, I knew i wanted a short, edgy cut. I left it at that and let Cath do her thing, and it turned out to be the best haircut i’ve ever had. I like my hair to be very low maintenance, and this cut allowed me to literally roll out of bed, and with a little roughing up and hairspray, was ready to go. It was perfect for the texture of my hair, lifestyle, and look i was going for. I stretched this haircut as long as I could, and was still getting compliments a year later before i was forced to get a haircut out of general ‘wear and tear’ necessity. Tell her any preferences, and let her create. You will not be disappointed. I couldn’t have imagined a better outcome.

OMG I went in for a wash, cut & style and what I got was a wash a quick trim and barely what I consider a style… it was more of a put goop on it and on my way. all in 45 – 50 min for the TUNE of $ 75.00! this was to be for my daughters WEDDING! I got home and could NOT believe what I saw. I have had better service from SUPERCUTS… I have NEVER had my hair done so fast as this place, no wonder they squeezed me in between appts and sent me off with wet hair I thought but it was GOOP! I have been calling to get a REFUND but YET to get a CALL BACK… or REFUND my VISA.
DO NOT MAKE THE MISTAKE I MADE… go elsewhere…

I’m very picky when I choose my hair cuts and they way I want them and she just read my mind. :) I love my new hair cut and the red!

I was in desperate need of a new stylist, so Joel set me up with the Master :)
I had long, curly hair down to my waist, and needed a new look that I could manage with my busy work schedule. Cath cut my hair into gorgeous A line that I couldn’t love more. I know it’s so nerve wracking to chop your hair off, but Cath did such an amazing job and made me feel so comfortable that I couldn’t have asked for a better experience.
I’ll definitely be coming back, and highly recommend Cath to anyone and everyone with curly hair :)

I always see Nina Pelfini. She is an absolute genius. She took me from black hair to bright shiny blonde in one visit!!! No stylist has ever been able to do that. I love my hair! Nina can do anything! She is a must see!

After reading the great reviews, I happily made an appointment for a color and bang trim with Cath/​Catherine.
I will start off by saying that I think Cath and her assistant were very friendly and nice people, who seemed to have the best of intentions.
Appointment 1: For my hair color, I asked her to remove the brassy hue in the body and touch up my roots, while preserving the expensive balayage/​ombré highlighting already in my hair. For my bang trim, I asked her for straight across bangs with some possible undercutting on the right side, to compensate for a cowlick on the left side. When I asked her to use this technique, she quickly said that it was a great idea and snipped away.
At the end of this appointment, my hair was very dark and the balayage/​ombré highlighting was almost completely covered up. She acknowledged it came out darker than expected and offered another appointment to correct it. After styling and a blowout, I left the salon. When I got home and took a closer look at my hair, I noticed a large section in the front of my hair line chopped off. I mean, a chunk was cut down to about an inch long, directly in the front of my face. The way she styled it with my bangs down onto my face, I didn’t notice it at the salon.
Appointment 2: My color was lightened and when I pointed out the bangs, she was shocked and said in her many years of doing hair, that this had never happened. Then, she remembered I asked for undercutting. This ‘undercutting’ was a term that my previous stylist at a different salon used .When my previous stylist ‘undercut’ my bangs for a year, I never actually saw the undercutting, because it was very subtle and blended well. Cath said this meant something different to her and did not apologize for the cut. Regardless, no one wants a chunk of hair to be cut down to an inch long near their hairline, when the rest of their hair is several inches long. It sticks straight up in the air and is impossible to style. This will easily take a full year to grow out.
Overall, my appointments ran very long (3 hours each) and since she sees 2 – 3 clients at a time, her focus was not individualized.

Since I’ve had many wonderful opportunities to live around the world, I’ve been to many wonderful salons… Toni and Guy’s in London. Oscar and Oscar in Australia (Megan whom I adore and miss very very much!!! Sorry to say she’s no longer cutting hair.)… and I know what I want when it comes to having a style cut. And Cath gave me exactly what I wanted.
She’s a masterful and creative stylist, who’s has the guts and knows how to execute on creating contemporary, fashionable styles that makes you just feel like you want to walk with your head held high.
Having recently moved to the Marin area, I was keen to find a local salon nearby that I can easily pop to on a weekend without having to drive all the way downtown to SF. Though I love my old salon in SF, it was just too much of an inconvenience for me to drive down and find parking every 6 weeks.
Over the years I’ve learnt that if you were looking for a good creative cut, you gotta go the Aveda Salons. And I found Bilancio through Unilocal and thought to give it a try. And I was not disappointed.
There’s no amount of raving on from me that will do this place justice. Best thing is go down there and try it out for yourself. Give them a call, and lovely Joel, will make a booking for you. Ask for Cath of course. Then let her do the rest.
I never like taking photos in. You wouldn’t ask a master painter to make a painting exactly like the Mona Lisa (but different), so why would you ask your stylist to constraint themselves the same way? Cath understands what would work for your face and head shape, hair texture and length. Let her do her magic and you’ll be walk out feeling like you’re ready for the Oscar’s red carpet!

You are so honest with how my hair should be… I am so glad I found you! I had the longest thick asian hair and you went way beyond & truly loved the cut & style of my long layers :)
