The bread to meat ratio doesn’t make for a fun lunch. The turkey tastes too processed.

Consistent sandwiches! I always get the chicken pesto on a wheat roll or the veggie delight. My favorites for sure! Fast, friendly service!

Relatively inexpensive and good portion size but the turkey is that processed weird turkey instead of sliced turkey breast. I’m not sure about the other meats but I will never order a turkey sandwich there again.

Great little deli in San Rafael with a whole board of delicious sandwich creations. You can also, of course, make your own sandwich or wrap, and they have all the drinks, chips and other snacks you would expect from a deli. Tip: you can phone ahead for fast take out, but they are pretty efficient if you order from the counter as well.

*Don’t order the tri-tip.* Today it was thinly sliced roast beef with A-1 sauce. I like roast beef, just not when I expect tri-tip and I don’t like it with A-1. All they had to do was tell me they were out of tri-tip and the rating would have jumped. They were nice, friendly, and fast. Don’t try to pass off roast beef with A-1 as tri-tip, I would have ordered something else, like a Reuben or the Italian Meatloaf, or Tuna. I like tuna. My son, the pick eater, enjoyed his entire Reuben :). Don’t order the tri-tip, order a Reuben.

This place probably does a great business. Easy parking in front, lots of tables, big selection of menu items, snack bags and drinks, open for breakfast too! The BLT was really fresh and perfectly balanced. Doesn’t look like much from the outside, but don’t be fooled. I join your group of regulars and wish I’d stopped by earlier!

Today starts a new Unilocal feature i will do on Friday’s called, «The Ten Dollah Tour.» My lunch was way late due to all things techie, so I meandered over to a Marin standard of old days. More like Christmas past, I should say. Belli Delli was once a mecca for all things sandwich adn siddes form soup, to slaad, to every snack in between. I thought it would do just fine for my tour launch, Excepy. It is so not the same. It is a barren dessert of snakck, a few salad choices in their deli case and microwaved hot sandwich. today, I got a Philly cheese steak. Mediorce at best and not meeting the lowest expectations after I walked into the empty deli. Plenty of seating, drink choices and snack attack foods. I should have just gone there for snacks and I might have been appeased. Is it worth a second glance, not so much. Change is not good.

On Friday, I was(way) late leaving for work. Thanks to a kitchen remodel and multiple people in the house, I couldn’t find the toaster. When I left the house, a warning light indicated that a light was broken(already) on my new car. Then the gas light flashed at me. After fueling up at Arco, I decided to visit my old friend Belli Deli(there’s just no reason for my decade plus absence from my childhood sandwich friend). The friendly counter people messed up, then appologized very well, and fixed my order. The coffee was adequate. And my(wildwood?) tofu-veggie burger with spouts on a bagel and cream cheese(about $ 7) was amazing, and likely something I could only make at home, or get here. Dee-lish.

The Belli Deli is great! Very close to my office and most certainly a lunch-time favorite of mine and my staff’s. Try the Green Goddess. Yum!

Years and years ago I used to work in Downtown San Rafael, and Belli Deli was my favorite lunch spot. Entertaining staff, great, hearty sandwiches and a huge variety of fresh salads in a cold case to choose from. Fast forward about 10 years. Found myself on a very rare occasion to be near Belli Deli at lunchtime and in the need I something ‘to-go’. I swear my car turned itself into the driveway, my mouth salivating at the thought of a fresh salad with a scoop of chicken salad and that Italian dressing that complimented it so well, and I had been craving for far too long. I walk in to Belli Deli and-wait– WHATTHE??? Gone is the cold case full of delicious salads. In its place is a counter displaying cheap coffee in press pots. Gone is the espresso machine– a thin piece of butcher paper covering the menu. The sandwich menu is still the same, so I figure, I’ll just go for that. Gone are the jovial crew of folks in their teens/early twenties laughing behind the sandwich order counter, having fun while they make sandwiches. A rather grim looking woman took my order, a «BL, hold the T», my favorite sandwich from the past. She handed me a ticket with a number on it «You go pay» she said gesturing with her chin to the register. I pay the what must be the new owner just over $ 7 for my «BL hold the T on Wheat». And wait. And wait. And wait. Finally, he calls«Number 2!» as if there are a crowd of people gathered around desperately waiting for their number to be called(it was just me). I take the sandwich and say«Thank you», and head to my car. I pull the sandwich out of the bag. The sandwich was so tiny. I open it up, really expecting to have gotten the wrong order. The Belli Deli I knew and loved used large pieces of Wheat bread, generous stacks of bacon and a pile of crispy fresh lettuce. What I had in front of me was obviously 2 slices of standard square shaped supermarket wheat bread, with about 4 slices of bacon and one tiny little leaf of lettuce(I actually had to open the sandwich to make sure the lettuce was there). I chose not to bring it back inside with the«you’ve got to be kidding me» expression I had on my face. Cannot believe I spent $ 7 on that pathetic excuse for a sandwich. I shall march into my future and mourn the loss of the deli I once loved so much. Too bad the new owner felt they needed to change a great thing. I will never go back.

I love this place. Mainly because they’ve been a part of my life since childhood– my dad used to come here during the 70’s and(according to him) he was so cute that the women making the sandwiches put extra meat on for him. Lol. So mixed with the nostalgia factor AND the fact that they make the best god-damn sandwiches, I’m writing them a review. ANDTHEYHAVESPROUTS.

Eh, the sandwich didnt hit a home run for me. I ordered a reg. turkey and while the ingredients were fine, the bread was the loser in the fact that it couldnt hold its own. No one wants bread spliting in the middle as they are trying to enjoy their sandwich… So with that said, Mollie Stones and Woodlands Market beat Belli Deli when it comes to sandwiches.

End-Of-The-World Scenarios can make you hungry and thirsty very quick. Picture a traffic-heavy Sunday afternoon on Second Street in San Rafael where suddenly every traffic light you can see for the next two miles all go out at the same time. I had to get OUT of this mess, quick! Being a «Lefty» I was in the left lane of a three lane one way and decided it was extremely important I make, uh, left into whatever place was next. And here was Belli Deli. I hadn’t been to this place in at least 10 years. Were they even open? If this is the End of Times, do they have something I could live with eating, let alone large amounts of water and carbonated energy drinks? The answers were ‘yes’, ‘yes’ and ‘yes’…so while I couldn’t really see the menu, I just ordered my default Turkey sandwich and gave thanks that the people were nice and happy to have me there. So, over to the window to see what I ordered, sit down and watch the ensuing gridlock of cars stuck in traffic pointlessly honking at each other. That made the Turkey Sandwich taste EVENBETTER. It still never fails me that it is a lucky thing being left-handed.

Sort of like Pavlov’s dog, I start getting all excited whenever I show up at Belli Deli’s sandwich counter. It’s not about the sandwiches, but rather that I’m taking those sandwiches and heading off to an A’s game. Everything tastes better outside, in sunny Field level seats, with hot young athletes for post-sandwich eye-candy. And if the A’s win I might declare that to be a downright delicious sandwich. Pretty basic stuff here: I usually get a tuna sammy on wheat with jalapenos. Except when they forget the jalapenos… Grrr. Be mindful; this sort of thing is not a one-time occurrence. Sodas, sandwiches, chips and some candy; that’s what they have here. The basics, improved upon vastly, depending on the outcome of the game.

I have been coming here for over twenty years and it is still one of my favorite delis. They have a great selection of specialty sandwiches, with interesting creations and great classics. The sandwiches are on the pricier side but they are also huge. And though they’ve raised their prices a few times, prices really aren’t much more than they were in the ‘80s. I love picking these up for a picnic because they wrap them well and they don’t get mushy. The deli itself also has lots of beverages, chips, etc too so it’s a good one-stop-shop for lunch.

Nice people, super quick service and decent sandwiches. I love sandwiches, this place is pretty consistent. Its a convenient location, they have parking, and lots of indoor seating and large portions. I just never feel«wowed» by this place. Everything is just ok… Its kinda like, eh, a good place to go when I’m hungry and don’t really know what else to get. And maybe this is just a weird personal issue I have, but it always smells like cleaner in this place. On one hand, thats a good thing, the place is clean, but I just wish I could smell something other than chemicals when I am eating my food.

A convenient quick spot(with Marin prices) for the working man … Granted, you may think that $ 7.99 for a sandwich is pricey, but if you go for the positive approach, it really feeds two people(or one really hungry guy). There’s not much upscale about this place(a rarity in Marin) — just straight and simple sub-style sandwiches with straight forward ingredients. The Dagwood(roast beef, turkey, bacon, roasted peppers, cheese, pickles, lettuce and tomatoes) was certainly filling, but did a good job on emptying the wallet. Not much more to say– a standard review for a standard place… maybe that says it all…

A decent sandwich at an offensive price. They have recently raised their prices twice. Nice people, quick service, plenty of options. Just can’t justify it over a United markets sando.

I F-ing love this place… I have frequented this place many a time after Marin County Greeeeeen Salad with friends :) One of my most favorite sandwich spots in the world… They will make whatever you want happen, and are very patient, even if your talking slow or having trouble conveying what you want — They understand and always make something good. To me, Belli Deli is the apidimy of a deli. There are couple of tables inside, a fantastic selection of chips and drinks which are both very important when eating a deli sandwich. Their sandwiches are cleverly named after areas in Marin County… Great Spot… Check This Place Out Fo Sho!!!
