I’m a loyal customer who is sad to see nosh go. They will be closing at the end of this month… They have the only croissants that I’ve loved, flaky on the outside and warm and soft on the inside. I get nutella on the side. The first time I had one, I cried! They also have the only espresso drinks that I like other than Peet’s Coffee. :) We will miss you. The staff and owner are always wonderful. oh and everyone who complained about parking, there is a free underground public lot right across the street. access on 7th street

If I could describe this place in one word, it would be «Charming.» I think the coffee is bold, smooth, and flavorful. Yes, I am one of those people who walk around slouched over and zombified first thing in the morning — I usually need to be awake by 4:30 or 5am and run around until evening. I need my coffee and a filling breakfast to do this! This café takes care of the customers! Great coffee, filling breakfast, and the lunch is good too! Love the bread pudding and curry sandwich! The wonderful Aussie owner of the café is a woman full of charm also. Great nosh!

What a great lunch! I have walked past this place 100 times. Today — I stopped. It was great! A perfect break from work. The food was delicious — I had the combo — bowtie/green bean pasta salad and curried chicken salad sandwich. And the service was exceptional — thank you Cerline :)

I’ve been to the Nosh Café a handful of times. Really quaint spot with average hospitality, cold coffee, luke warm soup… at least the sandwiches were worth the troublesome parking. Order a specialty coffee, and then they will make it on the spot… unless you’re forgotten about… Then you can take it to go. Eh, not my bag. Too much effort for not enough accessibility & hospitality. Order a sandwich to go while your friend waits in the red.

Nosh is a great little Café in San pedro with good sandwiches and great cold deli items. Their sweet potato and eggplant salad is the bomb, I can eat copious amounts of it! I specially ordered it for 3 people for thanksgiving, they were so incredibly generous and gave me enough for about 10 people for the small price of only 12 dollars! If you’re in the San Pedro area this is the place to grab lunch. Or the utterly delicious Mishi’s Strudel

This is a little gem of a café in Downtown San Pedro! Amazing lattes and a rotating selection of deli salads that are unique and yummy. The staff is always friendly and happy to accommodate. Although we do miss Nick who rocked the cappuccino machine! A fun little spot to meet with friends for lunch!

I have to say I was disappointed with the last visit here. Every time before was great. The people are very kind and the food has always been fresh and good, until today. Walking in I noticed they were busier than usual and that’s totally fine, places get busy. So we sat down(my wife, child, and I) and I got us menus to look at. We ordered the lox and bagel and got the oatmeal for the baby. Oatmeal came out first and we fixed it up, but they gave us no milk for it. Not really a problem, so my wife decided to add some cream to it from the coffee area. Well we had given the baby a handfull of bites already until my wife noticed a dead white WORM in the oatmeal. We were immediately disgusted and I brought it up to show girl behind the counter(the owner was in the back kitchen)…didn’t want to make a scene or disturb the other customers. The girl apologized and said for to order anything on the menu. Is that all? What kind of customer service is that? Sorry you found a worm in your food, here’s a replacement meal? That’s not satisfactory customer service. Even more, after I ordered the eggs to replace our contaminated oatmeal, which they knew was for the baby and the owner never came to our table to apologize… making me wonder 1: the girl never told the owner what happened or 2: the owner was too careless and irresponsible to make sure her customers are satisfied. If it were me I would have taken responsibility, gone up to the customer, apologized, be understanding that they probably arnt hungry anymore, and pay the meal(which was $ 18). This place used to be good but now I wonder if the owner is cutting corners in the kitchen and slacking on caring for her customers. Sorry but we will not go here anymore. Very disappointed.

Ummmm can I say YUMMY? I’ve been here a handful of times and I must admit I’m always very satisfied. It’s a hole in the wall type of café. If it hadn’t been for my friend I wouldn’t even have thought to visit this establishment. They are very friendly here and will allow you to sample the soups to determine which one you’d like. My favorite here is the shrimp salad sandwich on the croissant. The lemonade is also very yummy, they put mint in it. Only downside is they’re only open til 3pm, BOO, which is the reason for the 3 stars.

Three Experiences: 1 — Until recently, I was able to drive home in San Pedro to see my wife on my lunch break. During one beautiful San Pedro afternoon I decided to finally give Nosh a try. I was always curious to see what all the fan fare was about — every time we went past it on the weekend it always seemed to be closed. I ordered lunch for myself and a coworker, two herb chicken breast sandwiches. Phenomenal sandwich! You’re given the option of a tandori chicken breast or herb(right?). Next time I will have to try the tandori. 2 — My wife and I are always on the hunt a great breakfast. We heard they recently expanded their business hours to Sunday and wanted to check it out. The helpful person behind the counter recommended a meal with bangers [english sausages] and eggs. I know there was more to that dish but I can’t recall right now. The meal was great. Coffee was great. Service was great. 3 — This past Sunday we were amped up about trying a new menu item at Nosh for breakfast. As we approached Nosh we were stunned, «No Cars! We must be the first ones here!» Not the case! They were closed. This is 10am during their normal business hours. The door was partially open with a door blocking the entrance. There was a woman in the back working on prep, clean-up, whatever. She confirmed my suspicion by saying«Closed today, open tomorrow.» Thanks! It was slightly frustrating hearing such great things about Nosh, only to find out their business hours didn’t really fit our leisure schedule. Then we were finally able to experience it, it was great, then they randomly don’t open. I can only hope that no one from out of town drove here and found out the same way we did. All in all, go there and try it out for breakfast and lunch, just make sure you call ahead of time to make sure they’re accepting customers. 5 stars for the menu being creative, food being great, and the charm. –1 star for a lack of business sense. Nosh — Help us, help you!

Ate here numerous times over a 2 week period while in town on business. The staff here is helpful, friendly and cute. It takes a while to get your sandwich made and the portions are smaller then you would find around town, but hey this is a «café». Food is great, but they seem to run out of potato chips(usually had only one or two flavors left and no plain chips). The owner came out(kitchen, maybe, didn’t see her again) during one of the visits and looked around to hang up a framed article on the place. Seems that she is preoccupied with anything written about the place: Lady, there is no more room on the walls, we get it, its a nice place, take some older articles down(I took off a star for that!)

This place is getting four stars onlyy because it is never open! After three failed attempts I finally experienced the yummy healthiness that is Nosh Café. Chicken Curry Salad Sandwich on La Brea Baguette: Soooo good. Lots of creamy curry sauciness, not too much chicken, nice amount of yellow raisins and celery bits. Spanish Tortilla: ehh… I’ve only had this in Spain so I am a little bias… The potatoes aren’t cut thin enough so the egg to potato ratio it too small. Lentil Chickpea Salad: AMAZING. I’m eating it right now and its one of those things that are just addictive but you don’t feel guilty because its not crap. Servers were nice. Wouldn’t call this place Cheap. My total was 19.75. WIth a bottle of Fiji. Love it. Coming back for sure. Wish they had a website so I could see the menu and order over the phone!!!

Stopped by Nosh for lunch when visiting San Pedro. Great extra friendly service. I seriously mean that. The two guys working behind the counter went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed. Definitely more service than I expected from an order at the counter sort of deli. Tried the pear and brie panini, rice pudding, cauliflower salad. All were good. The order of rice pudding was huge. Could have almost been a meal on it’s own. Kind of made me sad that Nosh was in such a slow«not much going on» sort of area.(at least it was dead downtown when I was there on the weekend) But definitely worth checking out if you’re in the area.

Totally over-rated. Food is not bad, but not great enogh to justify the wait and the price. Maybe I went on the wrong day, but how can heating up a quiche that’s from the display case and adding some field greens take 30 min? I gave it a second chance and went during mid-afternoon for a cup of coffee and some dessert… but again, it took them 10 min to get me my order when there’s no one else in the restaurant.

This is the kind of restaurant I would have if I had my own restaurant. The service was awesome, and the girls there were so sweet. I told them it was our first time there and they gave us a sample of their black bean soup(VERY good, had a sweet spice to it) and some of their mint lemonade. The samples were very large, like almost a fill cup of lemonade. That’s some good service. I shared a lunch with my mom. The roasted corn soup was delicious, as was the cold lentil couscous salad. It had a tandoori spice in there that made it something to crave. Had some yummy grilled veggie in there too. SOGOOD. I desperately want to recreate it at home. Their sandwiches were good too, nice meats, La Brea bread, and the lettuce they use has some vinaigrette on it. Nice. We shared the tandoori chicken and the roast beef with horseradish. Delish! I love this place. Not the cheapest, it was $ 25 for two, but it was so nice to go into a little place that makes fabulous food with awesome service. Please support little awesome places like this! This is what good food is all about.

The Nosh Café Deli is a quaint, earthy, and healthy-good café in San Pedro. This cute little café makes some of the healthiest and best gourmet sandwiches in Pedro. They use good ingredients and make their sandwiches on La Brea bread. Ask for the bread toasted… the sandwich will taste better. Their tandoori chicken sandwich on La Brea bread and greens is delish. Fresh slices of chicken breast and the tandoori taste make this sandwich #1 for me. Like Urth Caffe, Pannikin’s in Encinitas, and Whole Foods, The Nosh Café creates healthy, good meals at a medium price. The Nosh Café is my little oasis for lunch. Pedro can be a little dodgy and is a hit or miss neighborhood. One block you have the projects and the next block you have the ½ million dollar high rise condos. But the Nosh is the one consistent café for a good meal. Now, The Nosh Café’s dining room is not that fun in the summer time to dine in. The dining is a swelter. The room has fans on but the café still gets stuffy. The trick is to order to go and eat your lunch at the Starbucks across the street. Order a beverage at the Starbucks, so you can use their dining room and eat your lunch. Too good eats!

Stopped by this little shop this morning and only had the breakfast fruit bowl. I jhad ust left starbucks. I was in need of wifi without the huge crowd over at the Starbucks on the corner. I was surprised. It was 7am and I was the only one there. I guess they open at 7. The menu lists out of the norm dishes such as croissants with egg and ham made right in front of you! All kinds of soups and salads. Looked like you could get an entire breakfast or lunch for under 10 bucks. Whatever they were cooking up smelled delicious. I had regreted the cheerios and banana I had for breakfast at home. I had very little appetite. As a matter of fact, I had regreted the coffee I purchased at Starbucks. There were two very nice hosts. They didn’t seem to mind I had the starbucks white mocha with me. They said I could use their wifi. They only had a couple of plugs. I ordered the fruit bowl. I was surprised. It had all kinds of fruit including berries and kiwi. I looked over the menu and they had several yummy sounding dishes including soups. It all looks homemade here. I will try the lunch another day, as it is walking distance from my office. The staff and their warm welcoming made me feel right at home. The fruit bowl was pretty tasty also. Nice atmosphere! It sure seems like the people running a place sure make or break your visit… doesn’t it? Oh yeah, the bathroom was clean also!

I walked over for lunch one day to pick up a sandwich to take back to my desk at work. The interior is rather small and has antique feel to it There is a display case right when you walk in filled with potato salad, quiche and many other things. After browsing the menu(which had several interesting items) I opted for a panini. The menu said it had onion relish and tapenade on the sandwich. Wow, was it good! The staff was pleasant and helpful. I will say that they seem to get a large number of phone in orders so expect a wait for your food to be prepared.

Just have to mention that the carrot, cauliflower & onion soup is to die for! And it’s got a wonderful kick of spiciness. A note for Nosh… please, oh please, get air-conditioning before the summer months hit! I know it’s another expense you just don’t want to think about, but I veer away from your lovely lunches when the temp tips over 75 degrees. Muchos besos!

The Unilocal decal on the front window enticed me inside this very charming café, located in the historic Hotel Cabrillo building. See the photos. I love the décor. From the cactus garden in the window to the row of bottles by the huge mirror, there is something interesting to look at everywhere you turn. The first staff person I encountered was Nick, who took my order. He let me take his picture after a little coaxing. What a friendly, wonderful guy! Nick happily took the time to describe several dishes to me before I decided to order a BLT on a fattening croissant. And oh boy was it good. I’m glad I didn’t get any sides ’cause it was ample, it was plenty enough for lunch all on its own. Six bucks. I could not resist a fresh-baked cookie for dessert, though. I got chocolate chip walnut, and it was excellent. I almost selected an Anzac, a type of Australian cookie made without eggs. Next time. They all looked yummy, so fresh. Speaking of Australian, I met the owner, Susan. I got her photo too, with another staff member, Cerline. Susan is a very lovely lady who followed her heart to open little Nosh Café about a year ago. Susan and I chatted for quite awhile, and I learned interesting stuff about the surrounding San Pedro area. Nosh is in the arts district, across from one of the new loft buildings, a few blocks from the water. Great location. They recently began opening on Saturdays, from 7am to 1pm, and they do serve breakfast daily until 11:30. If I’m ever in the area in the morning, I got a date with a couple of Nosh’s scrambled eggs. And I want to try their Batdorf & Bronson coffee. And another cookie! So…sandwiches are excellent, judging from the one I had. They also serve salads with organic greens, homemade soups, bagels & toasts with assorted toppings, and various deli case offerings such as quiche. Their menu boasts 5 fresh unique salads every day. Their dairy & chicken is hormone-free, and all the salmon they serve is wild-caught. I eat only line-caught wild salmon, because it’s the only salmon that is free of all mercury. And it’s very rare to discover a restaurant that is wise enough to know that, and cares enough to serve it. Nosh has a lovely assortment of desserts, and a great selection of coffees & teas. The menu is overall awesome, loaded with unique, appetizing creations. This is my cup of tea: An attractive eclectic setting staffed by warm & welcoming people that serves reasonably-priced delicious food. Pride of ownership is everywhere. If I lived nearby, I would likely be here every day. San Pedro arts district is not crowded, there is plenty of metered street parking. For 25 cents an hour. Such great deals. Can this be LA? Indeed it is. You are in Los Angeles here, but it seems a world away, a refreshing change from the high-priced hectic lifestyle to which we’re accustomed.
