This place is full of a bunch of losers that do not know how to run a business. What a cluster. Full of really incompetent people. I would not recommend coming here. The food is horrible. I ordered a lamb gyro a few weeks ago and it was so nasty, it didnt even taste like meat, not sure what they are using, the sauce they used was wayyyy too much… tasteless and they over charge, even charge credit card fees… stay away!!!

Absolutely wonderful food and service! The hubby ordered lamb over rice and I had the combo plate with lamb … Both dishes were delicious, seasoned and cooked perfectly. Unfortunately we don’t live here we are only passing through but we will be back at least once before we go.

UPDATE! I wrote the review while I was waiting for my food and the guy got a quick Unilocal update and he cancelled my order. He was like«I am not going to allow you to eat here. You wrote this review about us.» Basically they are buying reviews from people that eat here… BEWARE! This is a country where we have the right to express ourselves. If you cant handle fair and balanced you shouldn’t be running a customer service oriented business… Here is my review: What a shitty place. I called in saying no tahini sauce in my wrap because I’m allergic. I come to pick up the order and check my wrap. It’s full of tahini sauce. Then the cooks starts telling me you should have told us. I’m like dude I said I’m allergic on the phone. Wtf. What a disorganized cluster fk. Seriously if you don’t understand food orders don’t have a restaurant. I would give them –2 but I can’t. Cheap aholes as well because they charge $ 0.35 per credit card transaction. What age are we living in where you need to be so cheap to charge for credit card transactions. Anyways. Eat here at your own risk.

I live in Marin County and will drive to the East Bay for this food. It’s amazing! I haven’t had anything on the menu that I wouldn’t try again. Seriously, the BEST!

Good kebab! Their homemade hummus is pretty good too, not the best I’ve had, but better than pretty much anything you could buy at a supermarket.

Discovered this treasure chest a few months ago, and has been my favorite place ever since. The chicken Kebab with white rice is my favorite, number 5 on the menu. The chicken was grilled perfectly, and had a juicy texture and the rice was delicious . Delicious food, Reasonable pricing and great customer service.

1 chapli kabab burger is 13.95. Ripped off guys. Your food is good but for one burger 13.95 thats just way over priced. I am not coming back here again.

I’ve been craving a good lamb gyros for while now ever since my favorite gyro spot in Emeryville so hearing there was a location that serves lamb gyros near home, I had to go give it a try. I came in on a Thursday afternoon. The gentleman at the register never once acknowledged me and just waited until I was ready to order. So of course I had the lamb gyro and has them sub my fries for salad. At most places the lamb is on a spit and the chef will cut the meat off the spit to put in the gyro, but the meat was pre-cut and refrigerated and just warmed up on the flat top when you order. I got my food and sat down and ate it there. My lamb meat was very good but my gyro fell apart after the first couple bites. The yogurt sauce was just creamy and had no real flavor and the dressing on my salad was just oil and vinegar. Nothing really had real flavor but for being a small and only location in Richmond. It get’s 4 stars. Btw, they offer plates and burgers too, so they have good varity to choose from.

I was very excited to try this place after reading a couple of reviews. The food was delicious!(On the salty side but very tasty!) We ordered the Chicken Kebab, Koobideh Kebab and Bolani. The service was NOT so great… VERY slow. The Chicken Kebab: Chicken breast was a tender, in a rich tangy marinade, Greek yogurt, lemon, garlic and spices & grilled to a nice golden brown. Served over white or brown rice, bread and a simple salad. Bolani: The thin, flaky flat bread stuffed with cilantro, potato, tomato, onion, and cooked until golden. It is low fat yet very tasty and filling. Will go back when in the area. Hopefully their guys will be more attentive to dine-in customers over scrambling to service the take-out folks first. Us sit-down peeps need love too! ;)

Came here again and their customer service has since dissipated… and my Gyro was soggy. I am guessing maybe because it was late afternoon, but still. I am all about quality. I may give this place another chance to redeem themselves just because my first experience went so well.

The food is awesome! I arrived right after the owner had closed up, but he was kind enough to take the food back out and cook a lamb gyro over rice for me. I’ll definitely be back a lot more often. The lamb was tender, the rice was moist but not mushy, and the sauce was awesome.

Great place for a grab and go meal! They’re pretty fast and right off the highway. I got the chicken gyro which was full of flavor. Be careful though, I got it medium spicy and I thought it was pretty hot. The pita was probably my favorite part — so soft! It’s not a fancy place or anything, but it’s definitely worth going to if you’re in the area. They take card, but charge $ 0.35 for every purchase. Easy parking and no line was also a plus.

Love this place. Cheap price, close by, and tastes delicious. My favorite is the number 1. Chicken over rice, brown rice and spicy. Chicken nuggets were OK when I tried them. Chapli kebab was a good option also. A must try for everyone who loves Afghan food.

The name«Kebob Express» doesn’t impress at first, but at first bite of their food, you will be instantly amazed. Fairly prices below $ 10, I happily ordered the lamb gyro.(Note: $ 0.35 credit card surcharge…). If you eat with your eyes, the beautifully colored sauce will get you salivating right away. The taste is even better though. The meat is perfectly cooked and the combination of the juicy lamb and the slightly spicy sauce won my heart. Whenever i need a cheap meal, kebob express will be amongst my top 5 options near Richmond.

I’ve been spoiled by the halal city that is New York. No halal in America compares to the $ 5 halal carts on the streets of NYC. While this place is good, it wasn’t amazing. I found the chicken to be too dry and the pita bread to be unsatisfying. But then again, I’ve been spoiled by New York. The price at kebab express is okay. It’s a cheaper alternative than many of the other food places around. But let’s be honest, nothing beats $ 5. Oh halal guys, I miss you so much!

I’ve NOT had the halal carts in New York. Sad, right? Also, I’ve not gotten lost in Manhattan ala Macaulay Culkin. Double sad. I may never know the joys of a Plaza ice cream sundae… At any rate, when my friends came back from NY last year, they raved about the halal carts. All I could do was seethe in jealously. I figured that the next time I was in the big apple, I would finally give it a try. Well, now, it looks like I won’t have to travel that far. My friend hits up and says he wants to try a new kebab spot next to Americana. Saying people really liked it and he wanted to compare it to the carts. I was hungry as heck because of intermittent fasting(I’m about that life), so I was SUPER down. Just a hop, skip, jump, and 10 – 15 minute drive away, and we were there. Right smack dab to Americana. Ah. That was our spot for awhile. Have I written a review on it? I should. The restaurant itself is small, but very clean. All of the menu photos are large, so you know what you’re ordering. Mouth, already watering. Hunger level ONFLEEK. We order the lamb over rice and beef tikka kebab, both with brown rice(which technically isn’t actual brown rice, but more on that soon.) I pay using card, but the friendly cashier guy informs me that someone stole the credit/debit machine. Seriously, who would steal something like that? Sheesh. So yeah, not the restos fault, so he has to call their bank to process my order, which I have no problem with. It freakin’ smells amazing in here! We sit. I hear sizzling meat. The aromas emanating from the nearby grill are insane. Stomach rumbles for a few minutes, and then the food comes out. Great portions are what I initially notice. I dig in. Oh man… Oh man! The meats are so flavorful and tender as well. The cucumber mint dressing is awesome on the included salad. Not sure what the bread is called, but it’s rockin’ as well. The brown rice is NOT the brown rice you’re used to, but rather, BROWNED rice. And it’s awesome. I’m pretty much going through sensory overload. I ask my friend, «how’s it, compared to NY?» His reply: «It’s so good. It’s just as good. The portions are actually bigger.» My sensory overload combined with his stamp of approval makes me a happy man. And there’s not a whole lot more to say. The food is OFFTHECHAIN, the prices are beyond reasonable for what you get, and service is fast and friendly. I love this spot, one of my new favorites. No cons. Go here! GOHERE!

I was Friday afternoon and I was in city of El Sobrante for business, and want eat lunch. Used Siri for searching kebab, and found nearby restaurant the Kebab Express. Knowing 4.5 stars means 5 star for some restaurants, I’d like to try them before going back to my work in peninsula. A couple people were waiting and good comment about their Giro and french fries. I’ve had many options on my way, but I’m glad that I came here. Other customers and i feel good for having a complementary delicious soup while waiting for our order. As self appointed Afghan /Persian food critic expert;) I don’t remember seeing a restaurant with 4.5 stars and $ sign(low cost) in the SF Bay Area in last two decades; it was reality fact. I ordered #12 @$ 14.99(lamb chop that comes with brown or white rice, and fresh salad(lettuce red cabbage, cucumber tomato olive oil? and lemon juice), chutney(green hot sauce made of vinegar cilantro and spices) a piece of fresh Afghan bread. As we all know meat is the expensive item and especially lamb. Well worthy food on a pay day Friday :) I was very satisfied with quantity(5 piece lamb chops), and quality and cooking of it; I finished all of the salad and rice and bread(and soup). Apparently their customers knew about their schedule, as it got crowded after their opening(that was closed for Friday prayer) after 1:30 pm. I will come again with my family, as the quality and quality and cleanness and location(not far from I-880) meets together. Thank you for good memory of dinning in City of San Pablo at Express Kebab!!!

Damn, Afghan’s really know how to cook! I’ve yet to go to a bad Afghan restaurant, this place being my most recent. I have tried the chicken kabob, lamb kabob and lamb chops. All flavored very well. Both the chicken and lamb kabobs are pretty tender but the pieces of meat are basically minced. I personally prefer bigger chunks so I can get more of a bite into it. The lamb chop is easy to chew but doesn’t melt in your mouth. The spices on it were good but I preferred the kabob as far as flavors go. The prices are more than fair, probably the cheapest plates I’ve seen for kabobs but with very generous servings. Definatly a bang for you buck! I love that they offer brown rice! It’s made very well and not dry at all. I still have yet to find a place that can out beat De Afghanan(Fremont) as far as lamb kabob’s go but still highly recommended if you’re in the area!
