Double Rainbow Ice Cream

I love the banana split with French vanilla ice cream. I’ve been here every day for 2 weeks.

This is the best place to get a delicious desert and also is close by my neighborhood and they have a wonderful price for delicious ice cream and milkshakes and many more

If you’re craving for a good mango ice cream, this is the place to go!
Love the ice cream here, even though I’m not an ice cream lover, whenever I crave for one I always end up coming back here.
I tried other creameries but they’re usually packed and pricey.
This is the best place for those days when you need a quiet place with tasty ice cream.
Don’t expect great customer service though.

The shake I ordered still had chunks of ice and the customer service wasn’t too great either.

I have been a faithfull customer since 2008. The owner and his wife are awesome! The customer service is always great. Lesly, Ariana, Oscar and Rosie thank you for your services. San Pablo would not be the same without you!!!

Arrived at 9:54 to the only employee getting in there car and the store front shut down with lights off.
Wish I didn’t jump in my car and drive all the way there just to get a rude and somewhat threatening response from the employee getting in his car and leaving.
Maybe change the hours to 9:30 or hire employees who will actually stick around until the shop is supposed to close.
Didn’t get a chance to try the ice cream, I will update my reviews IF I decide to give it another shot at some point.
Major disappointment.

I was first introduced to Double Rainbow ice cream when I was in the natural food aisle. I was looking for a decadent, organic ice cream sold in a pint and I came upon Double Rainbow Ice cream. I bought it, opened the lid and took a scoop. It was delicious. Then I was amazed to find out that they actually had an ice cream parlor two miles from where I live.
Double Rainbow Ice cream is commonly sold in specialty grocery stores like Ardonico’s, Whole Foods, Berkeley Bowl because of their natural approach to making ice cream. Their website states that they «only use the freshest and most natural ingredients». And that the «cream and milk used in their ice cream comes from cows not treated with hormones». Their «ice cream is thicker and creamier than other ice creams because they do not whip excess air into our product, and they use just the right amount of butterfat to ensure that every spoonful tastes rich and delicious». Also most of their ice creams are certified Kosher by the Orthodox Union. This information is taken from their website.
I could definitely taste the difference. They don’t use high fructose syrup or extra additives to make it sweet. I ordered the strawberry cheesecake ice cream and it had real strawberries and pieces of cheesecake in it – no artificial flavoring. The ice cream is as authentic as one can possibly make it with a creamy, desirable texture.
With that said, why only 3 stars?
There’s much to be improved about the actual parlor. First, I had to have my ice cream to-​go because it would be impossible to enjoy by ice cream there. Unfortunately, there’s a distinct, pungent smell as you walk in and it’s hard to over look this, especially at a place that serves food. I immediately wondered about the sanitation and the disinfection/​cleanliness practices behind the company, and sadly, I preferred to eat my ice-​cream in my own car.
For a place offering first class, top rated, exclusive ice cream, then their place of business should reflect this. I’m not suggesting that the parlor needs go under renovation with state of the art infrastructure, but if several customers have had similar complaints about the odor, and if paid customers would rather eat their ice cream besides inside the parlor, then something should be done.
Secondly, I doubt that most of the customers know anything about the natural ingredients in the ice cream. This is a huge marketing incentive. There’s no other place in the El Sob/​Pinole/​Hercules area that offers wholesome ice cream with wholesome ingredients. Yet when you walk into the parlor, there’s no literature, posters or pamphlets that say anything about their organic practices. I shouldn’t have to look at one place (their website) to find this information, I should be able to walk in their parlor and see it as well.
With just a little bit more TLC and sharing more knowledge with their customers, I can see this place thriving. They have the product to get customers, now they just need to find a way to keep the customers there.
Four stars for ice cream, minus one star for the parlor.

I remember going there ever since I was a little kid. I’ve had some great memories there and it feels like old times. I loooove the ice cream cappuccino’s! They’re delicious (: Recommend coming here for something icy to drink on a hot day!

I LOVE their cheesecake ice cream!!! It has actual cheesecake in it. It’s not just cheesecake flavored. I crave it almost every week! Yes it’s that good! TRY IT. The owners are very friendly and very patient when you take forever to decide which delicious flavor you want. And the shop is family friendly and clean as well! This place is my go to ice cream parlor when I don’t feel like going all the way to Berkeley for CREAM.

The strawberry ice cream cake I bought for my niece’s 7^th birthday tasted awesome. however the lettering on top looked like she had written it herself. If you work at a place that offers lettering/​piping/​handwriting please have decent handwriting!
They should probably also have more than 1 person working at a time. I might have come in at the wrong time when someone was on their break but as soon as another person walks in the door, the employee is already overwhelmed.
+3 stars for yummy tasting strawberry ice cream cake and ice cream! –2 stars for the horrendous lettering on my cake and the lack of staff.

Great local ice-​cream shop! Grew up coming to this place with my family to buy some great tasting banana splits. The ice cream is creamy and rich, of course that makes for an amazing flavor! Great customer service, the owner and his family help create a nice ambiance. And I love that they have sales for the pre-​packaged ice cream.

I was craving ice cream and decided to go in but as soon as I came in I could smell restroom yuck ! The place is filthy it looks and smells dirty to bad i didn’t enjoy my ice cream.

Today was the first time the owner’s wife and children were in the store when I stopped by. What a handsome wife he has! The two older kids, a boy and a girl, are very lithe and active. The little girl opened the flap of the garbage can for me when I was throwing out the wrapper from my ice cream cone. But the baby, oh my goodness. With what they call a «sunny disposition» in great abundance. An enjoyable time was had by all.

Ice creamm makes me so swert everytime i eat it. French vanilla and blue berry and pinacolada yummm cant resist. this place is been there for years since i remember. Delicious.

Going to an ice cream place I would think it would be cool inside. But with this place it felt 20 degrees hotter inside. Aside from that there ice cream is good quality.

It was around 9:00 pm, i was craving some ice cream and didnt want to travel far from home. Double Rainbow ice cream is open late 10pm, family owned, lots of flavours. Not alot of lowfat flavours.

That green tea ice cream from Double Rainbow, is the stuff of dreams. YUM.
