I needed some cookies delivered in San Mateo overnight. I tried some of the major cookie websites with no luck for actual next day delivery. I turned to Unilocal and found the Inspired Cookie. Although it couldn’t be done on their website, i emailed Tim and he couldn’t have been nicer or more happy to help. He wrote me back quickly, got my details, and sent me choices for Fed Ex. The whole experience was top notch. This is place gets an A++ for customer service. While I personally didn’t get to try the cookies, the person i sent them to said they were great. Next on the list… order some for myself :)

One word: amazing. I’m about all things lavender– ice cream, drinks, baked goods… you get the point. The tranquility cookie(lemon/lavender flavor) is amazing! I’m not gf/cf or vegan, but these cookies make a convincing argument that I should be.

These really are the most amazing cookies and brownies, virtuous or not! I have now tried three flavors and the brownie, and am completely hooked. Inspired Cookie: I love me some steak tartare with buttered toast and a quail egg, but these cookies make me feel so good, I want to be part of your sweet, happy, peace-loving, animal-not-eating, glutenutdairyeggsoy-free world. They make me want to talk like a hippie about things like«balance» and«serenity» and«gratitude.» Like perfectly balanced lemon, lavender, and sweetness in my favorite flavor(so far), Tranquility. Like serenity from eating a brownie and not feeling a little gross afterward, because it was neither too sweet nor too sticky, but it was soooo chocolatey and moist. Like gratitude from knowing that someone lovingly baked these things with a sense of respect for both the ingredients and the eaters. (I almost said«lovingly baked these little puppies» but it just didn’t sound right.) Yet another reason to visit the Bay Area!(And to cheer on T.I.C. to nationwide expansion and Colorado presence!)

I think vegans and people on a gluten free diet would cry tears of joy upon eating The Inspired Cookie’s cookies and brownies(especially the brownies — they are so very similar to brownies with eggs and wheat flour it’s amazing). But as a non-vegan wheat-consuming individual, I still think they’re great! The cookies are also excellent, with creative flavor combinations like Coconut Key Lime Cayenne and Chai Ginger. Bay Area peeps, I’m pretty sure if you check this list there is a location near you where you can try these delicious treats! Go do it!

The Coconut Key Lime Cayenne cookie is quite possible the best cookie I’ve ever eaten. Seriously. I’m usually skeptical of Gluten-free, Vegan skata, but I took a chance on this little wonder. First bite I was taken aback by the bite of cayenne, and I went in for more! It was surprisingly good! The cayenne died down after that initial shock to provide a little warmth to the oh so cool coconut and key lime flavors. A match made in heaven. Like salty-sweet. Cool heat. So, first sample was a win. The other flavors sound delicious and worth a try. The only setback is the price…$ 3 for the one cookie from Rainbow Grocery. Obviously quality ingredients, but I think I’ll be saving this for an occasional treat situation.

Quality: 6⁄6 Service: 5⁄5 Value: 4⁄4 Total: 15⁄15 = 5⁄5 It is INCREDIBLY difficult to make good vegan deserts. It is EXTREMELY difficult to make good-gluten free deserts. Now, let’s do the math. How difficult is it to make vegan gluten-free deserts? The correct answer is EXTREMELY-INCREDIBLY difficult… nearly impossible. Yet The Inspired Cookie makes such a feat look trivial. The brownies are fantastic, very moist and chewy. The cookies are super-delicious and have a great texture.

All the cookie deliciousness from The Inspired Cookie are vegan and gluten free, but you’d never know from the taste of them! Soft. Moist. You’ll relish each bite. You won’t find these flavors in any other cookie anywhere else(coconut key lime cayenne! lemon lavender! chai ginger chunk! etc.), and the ingredients used are noticeably high quality. You’ll taste the love! Really. Even if you’re not allergic to gluten, and even if you’re not a vegan, these are a MUSTTASTE! One of my favorite cafes in Oakland(Gaylords) just started carrying them(YAY!), but I’ve seen them at Philz Coffee, Rainbow Grocery, NORDSTROM, Mercury Café @ Page/Octavia, etc. Just look for the brightly colored label :)
