One checker… self service checkout is closed… over 20 prowl in line, yeah it’s 11pm but why not work more efficiently and use the same person to manage the 6!!! self checkout stands? Bad use of resources… wake up Safeway !!!

Okay location, but seems really small and the aisles are rather tight. It’s hard not to bump into another customer and/or cart because of the store layout and set-up. On the plus-side, parking seems to be plentiful altogether.

Forget going in the morning. Their vendors have all the isles full with their boxes as they stock the shelves. The isles are narrow to begin with and adding the vendor’s boxes makes it very difficult to manuver. Often the prices are mismarked from what the register is charging. Example today, was marked as 4 cake mixes for $.99 and register charged $ 1.49 each. Not a good experience at all.

This Safeway is very spacious compared to the one in Delaware St San Mateo. Unlike that one, it has a deli, salad bar, bakery, Asian food bar, sandwich, fresh meat/seafood, and even a larger variety in the floral department. There are times on the weekends it gets a little more hectic and the lines are longer. But I can find anything I need here. BTW there’s also self check out service unless you have an alcoholic beverage you need an employee to ring u up! Help staff as well and very friendly.

I come here often because it is my local Safeway. For the most part shopping here is good. I have noticed some issues while shopping here at night. There is a lack of staff, and most of the times waiting for a cashier takes at least 10 minutes. It is also hard to find stuff on nights where they are stocking shelfs. The isles are filled with boxes, and covering shelfs. I have noticed that they run out of stuff, and dont always stock it. I have tried getting things from the app, a lot of the times things are sold out. But overall shopping here is good. I would like to mention Fransisco, an employee that has helped me several times, he is super helpful. His attitude is positive, and he seems to enjoy what he does. I defiantly think this safeway could use more staff members like him.

Ewww. since safeway was taken over by Albertsons, the food brands are suffering. Local, quality names are being replaced with big brand/monsanto laden products. Double EWWWW. . For example — locally grown jacob’s farm fresh herbs have been replaced with Green Giant brand herbs. While. the jolly green giant may be great for frozen peas, he’s not as good for fresh products. The herbs were woody, bruised and a smaller portion(at a higher price) than Jacob’s Farm. It’s not just the herbs(says the self-admitted food snob). The Inner aisle options are also being weaned. No more Mott’s apple juice/cider(which is 100% juice). The only options are juice from concentrate blended with chemical stabilizers. Since Safeway’s prices keep going up on the foods that I buy„ there is not much of a price advantage. Fortunately, there are plenty of other great grocery options nearby — Dean’s Produce, Draegers, Molly Stone, Whole Foods. I see a shift in my shopping habits. Ewww for Safeway

Very very clean. super bakery section where I love there fresh daily safeway bake bread. Wonderful service from customer service(Maria via Mexico). Somehow this Safeway always had better pastry and bread than the one in South San Francisco. And this is my favorite spot after my Super Sport Club(close by) workout to get energy refill as well my limited weekly grocery need. All the cashers are always polite and always helpful. The manager and assistant managers always ask me if I need any help WHEN I STOPANDLOOKFORMYFOODITEM. Top quality produce and wine selection(Yes, I love their 30% off and additional 10% 6-pack deal) as well. Best operated Safeway store in the bay area.

This Safeway is just okay. It feels a bit gloomy inside. There’s plenty of parking though, which is nice! There was an issue with the self checkout when I tried to buy a bag of 5lb Yukon potatoes. The system couldn’t find the barcode in the system so the attendant had to come over and manually input $ 5. I actually didn’t know how much they cost since I just grabbed the bag, so I could be overpaying for all I know. Is $ 1/lb reasonable for potatoes?! My sister told me she came here earlier in the day and they were out of avocados. I came back later in the evening around 8pm and yup, still no avocados.

Safeway here is too small. aisles are tight. was lingering in lane to scout out beer section, almost got hit by a cart. wasn’t. lady apoligzized. not her fault. narrow aisles too blame. brew: «st archer pale ale» $ 4.49 w/card) 5.5% –taste full bodied. «dry-hopped».buzz comes easy. no bitterness –goes good with spicy food. on draught: –regular lane moved faster than express lane. people in regular lane had less items than those in express lane,

The service at Safeway is usually pleasant when I go in, but tonight I had a bad experience with one of the deli clerks. She asked if I been helped, and I told her no. Before acknowledging me, she was handling the trash in the back and didn’t wash her hands before she put gloves on. I asked if she was just handling trash. She said yes. I told her that she didn’t wash her hands. She told me that she had gloves on, and asked me if I wanted her to wash hands with attitude. She washed her hands, and got the food for me. I did report my experience to the store manage Bill, and he said he would talk to the person.

Convenient and open 24 hours, what’s not to love? During the holidays, smaller locations will reroute traffic to this larger store, so watch out for the lines if you’re last minute shopping. That being said, they keep this store well stocked and the staff is helpful.

Very disappointing never dependable when you need them. Rushed in for a money order and was told cashiers was on break. No one else including manger on duty could help me. Poor customer service and lack of training. Use to come here for fresh fruit and produced. Now I will take my business to and overall more efficient store.

This Safeway is always out of everything. I was there on Sunday night to buy some cheese and they were completely out of almost every kind of cheese. Not a fan.

Really crowded safeway location right off the 92. I’ll sometimes Park here to walk over to the Starbucks across the street. I like this safeway because they carry most of the items I need for snack attacks. Just watchout in the parking lot for crazy drivers

I’ve been going to this Safeway for 19 years just because it’s the closest grocery store to our house. Yesterday, I forgot my wallet at home. Since I had my phone, I asked if they had Apple Pay. Nope.(The first person I asked at Customer Service hadn’t even heard of Apple Pay!) Okay, can I type in my credit-card number and security code? No, sorry. Really? Well, I’ve been a customer here for 19 years, I believe the store manager would recognize me – so can you let me get some items and I can pay for them tomorrow?(Wishful thinking.) «My manager could maybe let you do that, but I cannot.» Where is the manager? He is not working tonight. Sigh. Instead of driving back home, I drove straight to Draeger’s, which has been accepting Apple Pay for months. I don’t plan to return to this Safeway any time soon – but something tells me they won’t even notice. This is just the worst of both worlds: neither the friendliness of a mom-and-pop store(personal credit) nor the efficiency of a modern corporation(Apple Pay). I would give them one star except that they do have a wide selection of products, even if many employees can’t guide you to them. Trader Joe’s is a much better store, as is the Safeway at Crystal Springs.

Great Safeway. Similar to many others. When I went there, there were no lines. They also had the express checkout which is a great advantage as some safeways don’t have this yet. I went here mainly for an energy and was able to find a cold one quickly and quickly check out as well. I also thought that the self checkouts with the ability to withdraw money are also great ! One downside though I noticed though is that Safeway used to continue continuously off deli sandwiches at $ 2. However recently they have stopped offering the sandwiches at this price and have now raised it up to $ 3, or $ 4,. This is the price for the already made deli sandwiches. I think it would be great if they could bring the price back down again. Then I would definitely be back there again buying more sandwiches.

I can tell I already like this SAFEWAY in San Mateo compared to the 30th/Mission(Hell hole as I always called it). This Safeway has Carts, and plenty of them. They have easy parking. Its CLEAN. And the employees are super friendly. The shelfs were full, didn’t look like much of anything was out of stock. AND… the customers are even nice! Wow! What a difference! I thought I was in Rodeo Drive for a minute…

Let’s face it, we all go to the grocery store at some point. I am someone who goes once a week. I live less than 0.5 miles from this Safeway. I like the set-up of this Safeway(the Millbrae store above ground is just silly) it’s clean and well maintained. The produce department is more often miss than hit, particularly with avocados and bananas which are either highly over or under ripe. Meat department is good, large selection. I always cruise straight to the specials. The one thing that drives me nuts about this Safeway is the staff, especially the butchers and meat area employees. They always have some smart remark when I ask them questions. The cashiers are better and at least pretend to be friendly. I love the self checkout!

************************* Note to self: ************************* Bring your own paper/plastic/canvas bags, otherwise it’ll be $ 0.10 per bag. Selection is reasonable. There are self checkout registers which help ease the check out process. Don’t recommend the prepared food, when we had the chicken it was very dry. @$ 1.99 per chicken piece it’s not worth it.

This Safeway is conveniently open 24 hours. That is the only reason I come here. The best service here is their florist. I stopped by several times and I always had consistent service. Excellent! They always wrap up my roses and other flowers I had purchased and make them look nice and even add ribbon to it. Outside of that service were okay. I try to use their self service checkout since there is always a line. Parking here can be crazy and hard to pull in and get out to sometimes. This is by far one of the biggest Safeway in this area and they pretty much have everything. Their pharmacy is located towards the back of the store right next to the seafood dept. I must say their wine selection is not bad but their bakery is huge!
