Horrible Experience here! Does not even merit a 1-star. Today, I had the misfortune of encountering a man who calls himself a manager at the Round Table Pizza at Laurelwood Plaza in San Mateo. It was our 1st visit to this RTP and definitely our last. But Mr. Vargas(franchise/owner), this is not the last you will hear of me and my horrible experience at your store! My daughter ordered a pepperoni pizza and offered me a slice. I didn’t care much for the pepperoni so I took them all out and basically ended up with a cheese pizza. Half way through the slice and in the middle of a fun conversation with 2 teenage girls, an employee came up to me,(had the nerve to) look me in the eye and without much respect, told me «Maam, you can not grab a cheese pizza from the buffet and not pay for it». After almost choking from what I thought I just heard, I can only mutter«What did you just say?». He repeated it. Livid at this point, I told him, «what are you talking about? This is a piece from my daughter’s pizza!». To which he responded, «sure but you’re eating a cheese pizza!». OMG — what a moron! I proceeded to ask him if he just accused me of stealing? His response? «Well, people have done it you know!». OMG! Seriously? I had to think for a moment — did this ignoramus just profile me? With much restraint, I asked him, «are you being serious right now, because I am very offended with what you are saying to me». I went on to remind him that there are better ways of approaching a customer than so assuredly accusing them of stealing(in front of their kids at that)! He just walked away nodding his head. I was so livid at that point. I asked to speak to the manager and was told that the guy I just spoke to was the manager! Adding insult to injury, the other employee condescendingly told me, «we don’t want to make a scene here; what is it that you really want?». Whaaat? Did he just insinuate I wanted a free meal? Mister — you obviously have no idea and no class! Seriously, Mr. Vargas, what kind of employee training do you have?

Beware! Do not eat here. Customer service is awful and manager and employees treat you like a thief and/or inconvenience. This franchise location doesn’t deserve your business!

I saw the bad reviews before I ordered but I placed it anyway… Placed the order online but they obviously missed it. I called to check the status on my order and they said«no order was placed online» in a very rude tone. I told him multiple times I have the confirmation but the pizza boy refused to listen. Kept asking if I called the wrong number/what number I dialed. I told him the number from the confirmation email. Just moved nearby and love round table so I’m bummed I will never order them again. Not that they care b/c they obviously don’t care about their work or service at all. Good luck, franchise owner of this store.

Pizza is good. Service SUCKS. I could not believe my eyes. They forgot to give me a plate for my salad, and when I asked about it, the guy working just ignored me, walked past, and left me standing there. He later went and set a plate on the counter without saying a word. Overall shitty attitude, these guys act like teenagers. Came here another time at about 8:40pm before close and they told me I could not eat in the restaurant because they had to clean. Worst Round Table location I’ve ever been to. UPDATE: they got my order wrong as well.

I have come here for my son once a week for about a year and the last time of giving them my business was tonight. The new manager is a prick and has no business being a manager. The prior manager left and unfortunately this douche was allowed to be hired for some reason. They never saw the on line order I placed and when I showed him the invoice I had in my email, I did not even receive so much as a «sorry». He just shrugged like«Oh fucking well» and started cutting someone else pizza, allowing me to stand there watching and waiting to know wtf he was even going to do about my two pizzas I was standing there waiting to pay for. I actually had to yell out«Uhm, what’s happening?» and«What are you doing about my order?» to which I received some muffled statement and then he turned his back to me to remove other customers pizzas from the oven. After ignoring me some more, I had to ask if they are being made or what. since I never actually got any real statement from him. He uttered«he’ll make it now», again with no apology, and then he or the cook saw my order in their order machine just sitting there. So, the n manager means the staff in general has gone down hill in the pan of a week. I luckily had not pre-paid and turned around in disbelief of their stupidity and that rude son of a bitches repulsiveness and heard him say to his cook«forget it, she’s leaving». I hope he gets fired. He’s a shithead and hopefully my report to headquarters makes some difference. There’s no way in hell I will ever step foot in that location if someone does not fire his loser ass.

I really like this roundtable. The pizza here is great. It’s crusty on the outside and cheesy and full on the inside. I ordered the King Arthur that has pepperoni, olives, salami, peppers and other good stuff. The salad bar also has a great selection of items and you can get an all you can eat for $ 8.95. Wings are also good. The service is great too. There are a lot of employees here for the number of people who eat in, but they probably have tons of people who call in to order and just come to pick it up. My only complaint is that the place is always empty. I wish more people would come here! Plus it’s not cheap!

This place rocks!!! I come here mostly for the lunch special. The owner is a nice guy and the work crew are relaxed and friendly. The appearance of the store is always clean. I come here a lot and never had a bad visit so far.

Round table is the best pizza around. A little bit on the expensive side but I don’t mind based on the quality that you get.

We were treated like crap for deigning to ask for the pizza we actually ordered when the wrong one was delivered. We were interrogated like we stole a loaf of bread. After enduring the 3rd degree, we were told to be ready to show our receipt(dug out of the trash) and return the(mostly uneaten) pizza. An hour later, the replacement pizza still had not arrived, so we called again. Finally, 15 minutes later, it came. Needless to say, the driver did not want the returned pizza. Unbelievably poor customer service. We(used to) order from this Round Table monthly. Not any more.

Disappointing. The reason being, I asked for extra sauce and actually seemed to get LESS sauce than usual! Maybe the guy taking my order thought I said, «Less sauce?» That’s the only thing I can think of. Sure wish they would have done it as I asked because I took it to go and by the time I sat down to eat it, well, I just had to accept that fact that they didn’t make it as I requested it.

I have been to this place twice. Used to Love round Table years ago. I just don’t think the cheese they use has any taste and there is not much sauce. I want to like this place but I think rainbow Pizza in the Crystal Springs Shopping Center has a much better pizza for about the same price. The Vegetarian Pizza actually tasted the best.

Nothing quite beats a Round Table pizza fresh out of the oven. As a Bay Area native, I grew up on Round Table. Round Table for dinner. Round Table for birthdays. Round Table for other parties. And though the pizza has changed a bit, it’s still a local favorite of mine. I love the Guinivere’s Garden(tomatoes, peppers, onions, olives, mushrooms) pizza — though I’m not sure why it’s the same price as other specialty pizzas that have meat? This location is fine for me. It’s fairly well lit, and actually kind of quiet(in a good way) — i.e. despite the fact that you’ll generally find a lot of groups here, it’s not noisy in the Chuck E Cheese sense. Speaking of groups — it’s a good place to host a party or office get together. They have a «party room» and they also can pull together some of their longer tables for you. Pizza is ready when promised. I’ve never had a problem there. I’ve had good friendly service here — especially lately. And extra props to a place that has Devil’s Canyon Root Beer on tap. And constant coupons. And a reasonably priced lunch buffet. And a pretty good salad bar. NB don’t try to compare this to New York-style pizza. It’s not. It’s Round Table. And don’t forget your coupons.

I met with some friends for lunch at Round Table Pizza. It wasn’t really my choice, as I’m not a big pizza fan, but everyone else wanted pizza, so there I was. The restaurant’s salad bar was clean, but otherwise underwhelming — the freshly sliced mushrooms and chunks of broccoli were nice, but the lettuce was mostly the tasteless iceberg variety, the olives were the mostly tasteless California variety, the other vegetables were semi-desiccated, and the salad dressings seemed more like lab experiments than anything remotely edible. I know this is a Round Table, but you’d think they could come up with a salad bar that was a little more exciting than this. The pizzas were not bad, if you happen to like pizza. I had the cheese pizza and the vegetarian pizza — both thin crust, with just the right amount of topping to be interesting, but not so much to make the pizza slices mushy. The fresh vegetables on the vegetarian pizza were nice. Although there was nothing remarkable about them, and you could easily find pizzas like these from hundreds of other nondescript pizza places, they were still about as good as you could expect from a Round Table. The restaurant was clean, the service was fast, and the pizza was OK. I give this Round Table 2⁄5 stars, which could have been a little higher if they had had a better salad bar.

Not enough sauce on the pizza! I don’t like dry pizza. Ordered pizza with extra sauce over the phone on three different occasions, and all three times, it was like they put LESS sauce instead of more. The Redwood City Roundtable gets it right every time, and so I will only call them.

It hasn’t been on the menu for years but the Hearty Bacon Supreme is a thing of beauty, and they’ll still make it if you ask for it. BACON, Italian sausage, Canadian Bacon, tomatoes, and green onions. Yum! When I’m in the mood to «behave» I get the Gourmet Veggie. It has artichoke hearts and portabello mushrooms among other veggies that make it stand out from a typical veggie pizza. Generally a large specialty pizza is just over $ 20 with tax. Yes, there are cheaper pizzas out there, but they aren’t nearly as good. If you are particularly cheap, go to the all you can eat lunch buffet on weekdays. They put out Hawaiian, Pepperoni, Veggie, Cheese, etc along with a salad. I still prefer Hearty Bacon or Gourmet Veggie, so I don’t see the need to do the lunch buffet. This particular location advertises with the Bel Mateo location. Be mindful of which location you’re calling. In the 5 years I’ve been coming here, one time they lost my order and claimed I called the wrong store. That was beyond frustrating and I stopped coming here for about a year… but the pizza is so good it pulled me back in.

This is a fairly tricked-out Round Table. 3.5 stars Features: + Salad bar + Local Devil Canyon Brewery drinks on tap(we got very smooth Devil Canyon Root Beer for $ 2.50 per chilled glass mug, which totally blew away the less expensive A&W in the soda machine) + Regular soda with free refills(if you don’t want to splurge on the Devil Canyon good stuff!) + Babysitters — er– I mean, video games that keep the kids entertained: + Lots of space if you have a large group of people(sports team, etc.) and a back room, plus a screen The pizza itself for me is still about 3 stars. I’m picky about pizza, though it’s one of my son’s favorites — if he could Unilocal,he’d give it at least 4 stars. This is definitely one of the nicest Round Table restaurants I’ve seen. It’s clean, spacious and kid-friendly. If I were going to eat in at a Round Table, I’d choose this location.
