Ralph D. Percival Memorial Vista Point

I’ve driven by the turnoff for Vista Point more times than I can remember on the drives from SFO down to Cupertino.
I finally stopped in to look around my last trip down. It was an ideal day for scenic vistas — given that it was cloudy out. But it was still nice to stop for a moment.
There were a lot of cars in the parking lot — but it did not look like many of them were there to enjoy the view. Seemed like most of them were talking on their phones or texting or some other phone related communication.
Unfortunately, you can’t really hike anywhere. The whole area is fenced off.

I drove pass this view point almost monthly for the past 10 years and never had the time to stop by until last weekend when I was early for my Sat morning appointment, and I decided to check it out.
The view is beautiful on the Sat morning, very quiet. Few people were just hanging out there enjoying the view.
If you want to get a closer view of the fog, get back on 280 towards SF and about two exits down, there is another view point on the other side of 280.

It is a short unchallenging stroll up. While the view is nice… It’s a little marred by the chain link fences and bustling 280 below.
Two ways up… one of which is a wheelchair friendly route. 3 benches offered near the top… Great for standing on and getting a better view without the fence.
My son enjoyed being «on top of da mounten» and seeing the passing of traffic below.
It was quiet during our visit around 1pm… Making it ideal maybe for those who want to have their lunch in a quiet environment where they could contemplate events in their life… I would def runaway for lunch here…

The guard rail with paved walking area is done! Woohooo! It is now safer to enjoy the nice view.
BUT I actually like this place minus the guard rail. It was a lot more natural. Now the human touch is here and to me it lost some of its original beauty :(

Decent view, but the road up is a little on the windy side, and it’s super windy up there. Not very fun to explore, but it was worth stopping by. Maybe I should come back on a sunnier day — it was a bit on the cloudy side when the boy&I came here, and too cold for me to want to walk around [although there isn’t very much to walk around…].
