Mariner Advanced Pharmacy & Compounding

These folks are great! This is my first experience with Mariner Advanced Pharmacy, but already they have made my experience as a new customer so positive that I could hardly wait to write this review.
I have been a customer of another well-​known compounding pharmacy, for many years, and though the other pharmacy has basically been fine, Mariner already outshines the competition in terms of customer support.
My particular experience with their customer service concerned a delayed shipment of the raw materials needed in compounding my medication; any reasonable person would understand that this is not their fault, nonetheless, they have gone the extra mile to put themselves in my shoes, and take care of my needs in this situation.
While my need for this particular medication is not life-​threatening, it is a quality-​of-​life issue, and I am most grateful for the extra care and thoughtfulness of the folks at Mariner in doing everything possible to consider my needs and get this medication to me as quickly as possible. You can tell that they really care about their work and their customers.
I also want to give a particular shout-​out to Trina; she has been warm and caring and thoughtful to the max. Thank you, Trina!

Headed to the bay and realized I forgot to pick up my dogs medication ½ way there. She NEEDS it morning and night so it was an absolute must that I figure out how to get it. The problem is, it’s a compounded prescription so I can’t just get it anywhere. I found Mariner Advanced Pharmacy, having never been there before, I kept my fingers crossed that I was going to be able to get what I needed for my dog. I was able to speak the the pharmacist named Henry and told him I was in a HUGE bind, needed the medication ASAP. He was beyond helpful, understanding and accommodating… He actually phoned my vets office to get the prescription for me, filled it & gave me a much smaller amount so I didn’t have to pay the full amount (pricey at $ 100 when I get it from my vet for $ 19). I only needed a little bit to hold my dog over for the 2 days I’d be in the bay & he was able to give me a much smaller amount of the medication & charge me a lot less. Thank goodness I found this place! Thank you Henry (my little dog thanks you too), your service was appreciated, you truly are a gem!

I have an ongoing health issue that periodically requires a compounded liquid medication. The first time I had this prescription (last year), my insurance company refused to cover it and Dr. Truong covered almost the entire cost of the medicine. Way above and beyond what he needed to do.
This year, I had to fill the prescription again for a larger amount. My insurance company still doesn’t cover the medicine and Dr. Truong even called my insurance company and tried to appeal for coverage. Once again, way above and beyond what he needed to do. He discounted my medication for me and had it ready within an hour.
They also compound pet medications.
Thanks Dr. Truong and I will see you in a month for my refill.

I recently moved to the peninsula and found Mariner Advanced Pharmacy by doing a google search. They don’t have many online reviews but I gave them a shot anyway and I’m glad I did. Their storefront in downtown San Mateo is really nice, new, clean, and uncluttered. I had an issue with the base of a topical medication I was using and was able to speak to the pharmacist over the phone and he seemed very thorough in his attempts to understand my issue, and contact my doctor to make sure the proposed change would work. The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is because they typically do not answer phone calls. You usually have to leave a message and follow up. If you have an urgent problem this can be frustrating, but they are good about returning calls.
If you use them, you should know that they close the San Mateo location everyday from 12 to 1:30 for lunch.
