It brings me such joy to read the other reviews — and to see how consistently other people are noticing what a crook the cashier(owner?) is. My experience is exactly the same: if the cashier thinks he can get away with it, he’ll overcharge you. When you notice, he apologizes about a dozen times, and then probably tries again on the next person. I work in the building, in the offices above. Its a running joke with the other tennants how he never charges the same price twice.

I have worked in the Cross Roads building for over a year. I usually stop in to J & R’s deli for breakfast and the occasional lunch when I am in a crunch and need something fast. I have been ordering the same item for breakfast for months. It seems like every tenth time I go in to purchase the same item the man behind the counter decides to charge me a higher price. I always ask him if they have raised their price on the menu and he always tells me no. I then ask him why the price is higher than the amount I usually pay. He always argues with me that that has always been the price. Then I realize he is charging me for the same item I always buy, but with a different condiment that costs more. He always has an attitude about it and most of the time argues with me. While arguing with me over it again this morning he tries to short change me by $ 15.00. I gave the man a $ 20 bill and he tried to say I gave him a $ 5. When I explained that he was short changing me he gave me even more attitude. I am done giving my money to an establishment that continually charges more for an item than the price that is listed on the menu. I am tired of arguing with the man behind the counter. I am tired of paying high prices for poor quality food. I am tired of being short changed. I am tired of the attitude. The only thing that has kept me coming back to this place is the sweet ladies behind the counter who make the food. They are always polite and have a nice smile for the customer. The owner could learn a thing or two from his own employees about how to treat the customer.

Feeling hungry? Stuck at the CrossRoads Towers with nowhere to go? Feel like blowing $ 8 on a sandwich? Well then I’ve got the place for you! I’ve been working in the towers for over a year now and, on few occasions, been on a time crunch that left me with few lunch options. J&R’s is just downstairs and is pretty convenient but is typically a last resort. DISCLAIMER: Counters are cleaned with some sort of bleach substance and may leave your turkey tasting of Clorox. «Whats that?», you ask. «Clorox?». Yes… Clorox. And I’ll tell you how they’ve managed to get bleach in your food. In the amazing bit of pipelining strategy that management has instilled in the workers, they have outlined a step where they«construct» your sandwich before the bread has even finished toasting. This means your turkey is sitting right on the cutting boards while the condiments are piled on. Now, normally this wouldn’t be a bad idea in your home kitchen. But then again, I’m sure we’d take extra care in rinsing our cutting boards repeatedly after cleaning… Ok ok… enough about the bleach sandwiches. The prices are pretty darn high as well. Two scrambled eggs(just the eggs. prepared in a microwave, no less) are $ 3. Throw in some OJ and youre at a magical $ 6.50 breakfast of juice and… well…two eggs. You want a piece of toast? that’ll bring you to $ 7.50 son. So why do I give this place 2 stars instead of 1? Well, to be honest, it has kept be from starving on days where I can’t leave the complex. And it does have Naked and Odwalla juices, which I love. I just wish the prices were a bit more reasonable and there was a little more care taken in the food preparation.

I thought this was a lunch place of last resort. Until i realized that I paid $ 7 for a gyros sandwich special that tasted like a piece of cardboard with some hot sauce. Do your self a favor and check what’s in the vending machine. Or skip lunch.

I worked in the towers for about a year. This is a lunch place of last resort. The prices are way too much, and the cashier charges according to his whims. The food is bland, and definitely over priced. $ 8 for a tiny sandwich? Do yourself a favor and walk across the parking lot to Trader Joe’s.

This deli is located in one of the Crossroad Buildings on Grant Road. I have eaten here for breakfast and lunch. For breakfast, I have gotten the blueberry muffin and french roasted coffee which cost me $ 5.45, a little too expensive if you ask me. For some odd reason, there would be days where the cashier would charge me $ 5.00. Maybe he’s following the example seen in gas stations. For lunch, I have had the roast beef sandwich and turkey chili. Surprisingly, both tasted really good. The roast beef sandwich left me satisfied, and the turkey chili warmed up my soul. It’s too bad I paid about $ 11 for meal. Overpriced, yet convenient. That’s how I put it.
