Owner & help with an attitude. It’s an ice cream store, how can you be so miserable! Spoiled our first trip with our grandson to a place we took our daughters so many times and used to enjoy.

Worst service everrrr! But you have the best recipes — I love BR’s Mint Chip, Strawberry, Jamoca Almond Fudge, and the ice cream cakes since the days before I even had teeth(but it was worth being a fat baby). Wtf, who goes to work at an ice cream shop all bitter? It’s the one place where the server and served should be all rainbows and sugar-high happy. I had noticed that this store was closed earlier than expected a few week back and today, I jumped in before 10pm and the dude literally turned out the lights as the needle was approaching 10… Everyone pretty much got kicked out promptly. Ewww. I’m gonna frickin burn some extra fossil fuel and/or use up battery to drive to the next town for my ice cream in the future. Good luck buddy, in life and business. Too bad for you/Yelp, I would’ve just checked in instead of writing you a subpar review had it not been for the distance factor that’s preventing my check-in.

I wouldn’t give any stars, if that were an option. Nearly 2 weeks ago I ordered a birthday cake for my hubby online. I received confirmation for the date I wanted to pick it up(ordered Weds eve with pick up Fri late afternoon). When I went in at the scheduled pick up time, I was told that the cake wasn’t ready. The owner finally came out and said that they hadn’t received my order. I showed him the confirmation twice. He went to the back and came out a few mins later stating that he didn’t have the cake I had ordered. He didn’t offer an apology or a replacement. He just kept saying, «I don’t have your order.» I told him that that’s not my problem. I have confirmation and they need to fix it. Finally, he asked if I wanted a replacement. I told him only if it’s FREE because it’s not my fault they messed up. He said, «Yes, of course, pick out one for the same price and I won’t charge you for it.» I asked, are you still going to charge me for the one I originally ordered? He said, «No, this is FREE of charge.» I reiterated to make sure we were both clear and there wasn’t a misunderstanding on either of our part. He repeated that it was FREE, there would be no charge for either cake because it was his mistake. Within an hour of being home, a charge showed up on my credit card. I called him immediately and questioned him on this matter and that he’s a liar and can’t be trusted. He said that it was his fault and that he would get it cleared up within 3 – 4 days. 11 days later and the charges haven’t been refunded. My husband has filed a complaint with our cc company to dispute the charges. We will NEVER order or visit this Baskin Robbins again!!! The owner is not an honorable person. I feel scammed!!!

I went here tonight with the kids I babysit. It was a little crowded but not too bad. The ice cream was tasty of course, however one of the male staff members was rude and unprofessional. He was swearing and telling his coworker how tired he was of being at work. He proceeded to «whisper» comments to his coworker about customers, which were clearly audible. This guys negativity really made the whole experience rotten. If someone hates their job so much that they need to vocalize it while at work and project their horrible impolite attitude onto guests, it’s probably time to look for a new job.

A Baskin Robbins ice cream shop that sells Baskin Robbins branded ice cream. Not much different at this location except for tiny seats and the fact that it doesn’t participate in $ 1 scoop Tuesdays. Parking is tough if you’re just coming here for the ice cream but it is in walk able distance to all the downtown San Mateo restaurants so it is available for dessert.

Average shop, nothing noteworthy aside from the fact that it’s a Baskin Robin’s. We just came it to grab some ice cream quickly, and decided not to stay as the place is small. It took about a minute for the teller to come and greet us, she seemed a bit distracted, maybe because during the lunchtime we were there the place was entirely empty. Nothing extraordinary about the food, the chocolate ice cream was nice and sweet, but nothing more. Would come here again if we had a craving for ice cream in the area. We only went here because the person I was with wanted ice cream and not frozen yoghurt, as there is another place that we saw on our way there that Unilocal had higher reviews for. Fortunately the ice cream comes in a bowl or a cone, otherwise we would be more obliged to consume our frozen confections in the rather dull dining area.

Small store with a few tables and located right downtown in San Mateo. Have dinner at any of the great places downtown and then have something sweet at Baskin Robbins. Lots of ice cream and sherbet selections.

I’ve given this BR more chances than I’ve ever given ANY business(blame that on my sweet tooth). Well no more. I recommend you go elsewhere if you want an ice cream cake, my Birthday cake was moldy(we received no apology AND they had the audacity to act put out by the thought that we’d want a refund! We eventually got a check back in the mail weeks later. On my final visit, I asked one of the very uninterested serving wenches who would not listen to how I wanted my order placed. I asked for a «thick malt with the final scoop on top and not so much milk» What does she do??? Dumps too much milk into the container and blends the malt to death. They are not interested in giving you what you pay for and give you attitude without a smile just for existing. If you don’t like your job give it to someone who truly knows how to provide customer service. Most people are sick of being served by people like you, after all, the money we’re giving the business is paying your salary.

I used to go to baskin Robbins when I was a little girl and it was the best thing ever… not sure how a chain could deteriorate so much over a couple of decades… At least they were generous with their rainbow sprinkles. I hate people who aren’t generous.

Came here the other day for dollar scoop days and the guy that helped us served us double kids size scoops instead of the regular scoops. On top of that he charged me $ 2 for rainbow sprinkles. Really, it costs that much for sprinkles? I ended up paying $ 8 for 3 double kid size scoops and rainbow sprinkles instead of $ 6+ that I had spent the day before at the Baskin Robbins in San Bruno. One more thing… the ice cream was soft and melted all over the place and we ended up throwing my daughter’s double scoop in the trash. Not planning on ever coming back here again.

Low ratings? Rude service. There were two girls working and they barely acknowledged us until we called them over. Eventually one of them asked what we wanted and we got a couple of samples and she not seem happy at all to give us samples. We finalyl decided on 1 scoop of birthday cake and she unhappily scooped some in a cone and when we asked for a cup to put it in as well, she charged us 15 cents without even letting us know! First of all, it’s only 10 cents for a bag and you’re suppose to let the customer know that there is a charge. I know 15 cents is not much, but I didn’t appreciate the added price on top of an already overpriced scoop. The ice cream was good, but I would never come back because it seems like they hate ther jobs and it totally kills your ice cream eating vibe. You would think you would be greeted with happy employees since they work with ice cream, but they are very ignorant of their customers and rude. No thanks…

My favorite pistachio almond perhaps is the 31st flavor. The carton is usually barely or untouched altogether. That is until i show up. This is a good source for it even though it’s much smaller than the usual BR. Standard service and selection. Good for a craving, but not so much as a destination

Little boy(literally, he doesn’t look like he could even work) came up to the register and asked what we wanted. Friend and I said, «Eight gift cards.» He turns and looks at the girl. She’s washing the ice cream bins, but doesn’t stop or turn and continues to ask the guy how many are there eying the gift card display holder. He seems clueless and says, «Looks like there’s two.» But he doesn’t even check… The girl had to stop what she was doing wipe her hands on her apron and check the gift card display holder herself. She says out loud, «There’s four, we need four more.» She leaves the floor and the little boy continues to stand and do absolutely nothing… I started to even see customers come in. Friend and I talk amongst ourselves because the girl is trying to ring up the gift cards, but still doesn’t acknowledge us. Finally, she finishes and says, «It’s going to be $ 40.» I interrupt to ask, «Can you print out gift receipts or something?»(Place seems kind of shady already) Girl replies, «No, we can’t.» Friend pays with her credit card. The girl asks my friend to sign and explains the gift card numbers and reference to the receipt. This was the part where I thought she was thoughtful and generous. She says, «Let me check if we have gift card envelopes.» I swear she left for one minute, came back, and said, «No, sorry we don’t.» Hahaha! Thank goodness we only stopped by for gift cards!. Imagine if we ate there…

This review is for their ice cream cakes. I used to LOVELOVELOVE Baskin Robbins ice cream cakes. However, I came here two times in the past month — once to get a cake for my aunt’s bday and once to get a cake for my brother’s bday, and both times the cake was a little disappointing. The ice cream portion isn’t bad, but the cake is just way too dry. I think I’m going to aim for trying out the ice cream cakes at Safeway next. Maybe less people buy ice cream cakes during the winter, so the cakes don’t get rotated out as often and the cakes I got were older/not as fresh? Whatever the cause, it wasn’t as good as I remembered =(.

I don’t usually review the chain stores, but I had to stop in here when the ice cream at the Clear optometry was closed on Monday. I was really surprised on how pricy Baskin Robbins has gotten. I don’t know if that’s to keep up the costs of a slowly waning franchise, but when you can get organic bi-rite icecream with unique flavors in the city for cheaper, something must be amiss. I don’t have high expectations for this tiny place, but its a little pricy for the neon-flavors frozen desserts they serve up

Oh I had to sin while I was downtown before I got to go home. I jumped inside the store to purchase a pre packed tub of Rocky Road ice cream with a side of hot fudge. My boyfriend was trying to stop me, because sometimes I get tummy aches from too much chocolate, but I couldn’t help myself. The girl was pretty nice. My minus one star is the fact that this place is super small inside. Bummer if you need a place to sit.
