Cute place to catch up with friends over a drink. It’s cozy, warm, not overcrowded, and isn’t too noisy. Most drinks are around $ 10 and if you come during happy hour they’re about $ 5.

a great bar to hang out after work or on weekends. i wonder if this place is same as owner as the attic next door because they have a walk way to get through to both. the bartenders are actually the same as the attic too. so maybe they are connected. anyways i like the bartenders. they are easy to talk to and ordering drinks is a piece of cake. they have a menu up top and a full bar to order any special drinks you want. i like the new old fashion. i had my high school reunion here. it was decked out in orange and black. good music. a spot in the back for either dancing or beer pong or any game you want to set up. bathrooms are okay. i mean its a bar you dont expect it to be super clean. a urinal and a toilet. just a great place to hang out with friends and get a few drinks.

The only bar I go to in San Mateo! I always see this when I go to the movies but never felt urged to try. Well one day, we came here to kill some time before a dinner reservation and I’m glad we did because now this is a go-to when I’m looking for a place to kill time and get a drink in downtown San Mateo. Firstly, this bar is connected to the Attic, another bar with food options, and I think I remember the bartender telling me that both establishments are owned by the same person. And the best part is this place is never too crowded or at least whenever I come. Bartenders are friendly, drinks are average price and there’s a ton of places to sit and talk. There’s also an outside patio which has some games(i.e. cornhole). If you come, try the sriracha shot. I’m not a fan of sriracha but it’s surprisingly really good! Does a good job masking the taste of the vodka(if I remember correctly) and it has a slightly sweet, tangy, spicy taste. Anyways I’m not the best person to describe tastes but you should still try it.

Had HH here and it wasn’t bad. You can order food here which includes items that are from the Attic menu(next door). Full bar but beware of the Grey Goose. The 1st shot I ordered was completely watered down. Like, 80% water and 20% vodka. The 2nd shot that the hubs ordered was fine.

Hole in the wall bar! I came here with my co-workers for happy hour, and I had such a great time here! It is really dark inside and there are large wooden benches for big groups. They also appear to have a back patio for more outdoor seatings. I highly recommend to come here for happy hour as they have really cheap drinks :) One unique drink to try is their sriracha shot(sriracha + vodka). It is surprisingly easy to take with a touch of spiciness. For appetizers, I recommend their sweet potato fries and wings.

Love this place outdoor patio’s in San Mateo are rare. Ashley is the best bartender the world has seen. Can’t live without her.

I’m giving it 3 stars for small groups, two starts for larger groups. We’ve come here twice for company happy hours. The last time we even called in advnace to give them a heads up that we were coming. They just aren’t equipped to handle large groups. The bartender gets overwhelmed and it shows in her attitude. It sucks because we love the food and the drinks are pretty good, not to mention they have an awesome back patio. I realize serving a large group can be stressful, but it’s no fun when the server is rolling their eyes at you and snapping. It would be great if you could call ahead and put a small deposit down($ 300 or $ 500) to have another bartender at the counter. We ended up spending $ 2500 that night and although the location is great and ambiance is great, I don’t think I’ll risk planning another company gathering there.

Really friendly staff. It does get busy at night and since the drinks aren’t typical and naturally take longer to make, the overall wait time can be a while. Is it all worth it? Yes.

Nice spot with a great outdoor patio in back. We had a group of seven and there was only one bartender handling everything(on a Wed night) though, so we had to wait super long for our drinks. The drinks, when they arrived, were good and strong, but the old-fashioneds had too much ice and diluted quickly unless you drank fast.

I like the ambience of this bar a lot. The patio was nice and the drinks were good. I tried the mint julep which was really good. I also liked the siracha shots which are only found here I believe, I could drink 10 of these because it masked the taste of the vodka so well lol. I tried my Uncle’s drink the tall tail and that one had blackberry and ginger soda which was very unique. This was my first bar I’ve been to so I don’t have anything to compare it to, but I would say my experience here was a good one.

This place looks like a dark hole in the wall… but don’t let it fool you. They have a back patio, craft drinks, and super-sized bartenders. Try their happy hour! It is awesome! The Sriracha shot is their signature shot and it doesn’t disappoint– it is spicy tart deliciousness. Ask for Ashley, the bartender. She is awesome.

My friends and I go here after work to relax and get some drinks. The venue is pretty big and the décor is very romantic. The room is pretty dark with small lights around the bar. The drinks are pretty good and not too expensive. The only thing I’d change is to have to food menu more consistent. They have a different menu everyday it seems as far as bar food. So when my friends and I came here twice in one week to watch the Warriors championship games(GODUBS!!) I couldn’t order the ones I wanted or was craving.

It’s a hit or miss with this place. I’ve had ginger beer for the first time here and it was very refreshing. Came back another time and it was awful same as my friends Jameson and coke and another friends cocktail. I feel like some if the girl bartenders may still be learning? This place gets pretty crowded so it makes it hard to order drinks. Sat at the bar on a random Friday night and literally got starred at by the two bartenders then they turned away to talk amongst each other. We weren’t the only one not being helped. Finally the girl came over and asked if the other guy helped us?! Clearly not he’s on the other side. As we sat they we watched her make drinks and even complain about having to make drinks. I don’t really care for this place I rather go next door

Hard to find gem in San Mateo Once you walk in, you’ll find a dark, but classy vibe. The wooden desk at the entrance is pretty comforting for some reason. The décor is pretty well done, with little glitters of light everywhere. There’s even a outside porch drinking area at the back. The drinks are ok(we mostly only got shots), and the price is reasonable. There’s also a lot of room, so you won’t have problems finding seats for large groups even on a saturday night Overall, a pretty chill place. Good for bringing large groups of friends

B Street Station is one of the better bars in San Mateo filled with great personality, solid drinks and a chill atmosphere. Coming in, you’ll see two separate bars — one near the street and one more into the building. The whole bar has a saloon feel with barrels everywhere and a cool look. Bartenders were all very chill and easy to talk to with happy hour around 4−6PM(might be a bit earlier). Drinks include some fun things like sriracha shooters(vodka + lime + sriracha) for $ 5 during happy hour and great cocktails like the Green River which was smooth and minty. The New Old Fashioned was simply okay — not as great as the Green River(but they probably could make an Old Old Fashioned with good results). Prices range from about $ 10+ for non-happy hour prices. Their bar itself is also pretty packed with most spirits(although they don’t have every brand like Woodford Reserve). They also seem to have food but I didn’t try any. The customer base skewed slightly older but very laid-back and fun. There are a few TVs playing sports around and they close around 1:30−2AMish. I was pretty impressed with B Street Station — it’s a classy bar that is great for a date or a good conversation.

I’ve been going to this bar with a meetup group and while it’s been great for getting together with a large group, I’m not sure I’d come here otherwise. It’s a very chill place, friendly bartender, TV’s and I’ve never seen it too busy where I couldn’t find a place to sit. It would be a good place to come if you want to actually have a conversation or need a place to accommodate a group. They also have a super-awesome patio through the back with a little waterfall grotto and gazebo sitting area. It’s a fun almost secret garden that I’ve enjoyed hanging out in. I just really haven’t been impressed with their drinks, which kinda kills it for me(it is a bar after all). There hasn’t been a single cocktail off their menu that I’ve truly wanted to order again. They seem good on paper, but every drink I’ve had is either bland, too sweet or too sour. Everything just seems to miss the mark. I expect a little more for a 12 dollar cocktail. The bartenders are nice, but my usual go-to when I’m not finding something on the menu is to ask the bartenders to make something unusual that they think I’d like. I’ve had great luck with this and usually the bartender seems excited to try something new. When I tried it here, I got a mojito. So two stars for the drinks, an extra one for being super accommodating for groups and having an awesome patio! Maybe one of these days I’ll try the infamous siracha shot and be blown away… but I’m not counting on it.

We have been here several times. My review is based on the last couple times I have been here. One time left me literally, with a bad taste in my mouth. We over heard one bartender bark at a bar back that she was«f&@king overwhelmed». Bar back scoffed at her and walked away. This type of behavior should not be viewed by customers. I had offered this bartendar drinks which she did partake to try to get her to relax. Everyone should have the opportunity to be happy. If you don’t like what you do, do something else. Same bartender offered us a special drink she made. The drink, which we all passed around, tasted like you vomited and swallowed. She was very proud of this drink which we still paid for. I understand and respect the concept of ladies first, but damn 4 orders. Don’t ignore your customers. A customer shouldn’t have to make effort to get your attention. Enough of the cons, I like the bars atmosphere. Plenty of seating and a nice outdoor back patio. Drinks are ok when they get it right. My family loves coming here due to how convenient it is. Parking street and structure. But if it was just atmosphere I wanted, I could entertain my guest at home.

Shots shots shots… Sriracha shots! My friend arranged a girl’s night happy hour, which later turned into a bar crawl, that ended up not being all girls.anywhoo.we were at our second stop at Attic, but decided to go to B Street nextdoor before ordering drinks since Attic was super packed. I’ve been to B Street twice, and it’s definitely more of a lower key bar, and usually doesn’t get too busy. But that Friday night as the night went on get pretty busy. So my friend’s friend raved about the Sriracha shots and wanted us to try them, though I love Sriracha, I was afraid of heartburn & can’t really do shots much anymore, so when she told the Asian bartender that she wanted 4, I told her right away, no shot for me please. So she gets them all done and serves the three others their shots, and I try to tell her I wanted to order a drink and she ignores me, totally ignored my friend too who was trying to get her attention too. Finally after a handful of minutes when this other bartender was making a drink next to me, I told her I wanted to order and asked her if the Junebug was really sweet, she said no it’s more of a lemonade tart, so I ordered it. The wait for the drink was fairly long in bartender time. My Junebug was really refreshing. I thought it was going to be too sweet since it had some juices, vodka and pineapple schnapps but it was seriously like a boozy lemonade. Their mojitos are also good and fairly strong. Since the bar seating area was getting crowded, we migrated to one of their tables and enjoyed part of our night there. Drink prices are pretty standard. There”s not too much going on for their happy hour, which may be one reason why Attic is a more popular happy hour spot plus the fact that theirs goes on til 10. B Street is nice though if you want more breathing room, plus they have a men and women’s room with two stalls each, which is why some Attic goers stumble over there for a potty break(yes, I’ve been guilty of it), but I think they’re affiliated, because there’s the«secret» door between the two, plus, one of the Attic employees told my friend to go pee next door at B Station. I also saw people at the bar with food, and those wings looked and smelled good, so may have to check out the grub here sometime. B Station only gets a 3 though because it just doesn’t excite me but is a solid place to drink in downtown San Mateo. Maybe if they improve the attentiveness and speed of their bartenders then myself and others would bump up our rating a little. The funny thing is, I had to think about it, but I think the Asian bartender was originally a waitress at Attic, and if that’s the same person, I remember she was awesome at Attic whenever I would get her.
