Another Day Another Door

Called Robert and he happened to be coming to my area for another job and made time to come by our house and assess multiple issues with our 60-​year-​old front door. The California drought has caused some shifting and settling of our mid-​century home and our door was sticking terribly; the interlocking weatherstripping wasn’t working either. It took a TV cop-​show-​shoulder-​shove to open. Replacement had been recommended by one contractor but we’re completely wedded to our old, unique, perfect front door.
In about an hour and a half, Robert removed the door, shaved areas causing the binding, and replaced portions of weatherstripping causing problems. In order to do the latter, he had to lengthen the door, adding small pieces of wood that can’t be seen. They in no way detract from its appearance. He replaced the door, cleaned his workspace and faded into the afternoon, leaving behind a perfectly working door. Yay!

Robert came, assessed the problem, and took care of it on the spot in less than an hour — at needless to say — a fraction of what the others estimated.
This is the kind of construction expert you want — trustworthy, experienced, honest, capable.
