Stopped by on a Sunday morning. Low key corner spot with outside seating. Good paninis and salads. Great pastries and coffee. Would recommend this local spot.

Cute place. Fits perfect in the neighborhood. They probably got one of the best meatball subs around. But that’s basically it. If you’re on a healthy binge, you can create your own salad, but as soon as you turn the corner, stacked in the fridge are Cool Haus ice-cream cookie sandwiches… dare you not to get one!

Fantastic lunch options, love the vibe! Wish I could get back down here for breakfast, if I was a local I’d be in here wayyyy to often. Did the roast beef sandwich paired with a caesar salad — 100% satisfied!

Breakfast 9−11am! And if you eat there you get the yummy potato/pepper/onion side free with your breakfast order.(if to go, you have to pay extra) Most of my peers come here for lunch and keep coming back. I’ve only ever tried the breakfast, coffees and their sweet treats. My fave is the califorian wrap and luckily they don’t skimp on the bacon. I tried it on wheat bread once but it didn’t exactly stay together, it is a generous portion. Coffee is just okay and honestly it’s been a hit or miss based on my picky foam preferences. All the treats I’ve tried are delicious and customer service is always great.

Swung by this place on my way to old town Pasadena and decided to give it a try. You’re first impressed by how the place looks inside. They have a bistro type décor with all the canned foods and frozen(on premise made) pasta carefully and color coordinated in the freezer. All the meats and breads are laid out in a very presentable fashion behind this very nice modern looking glass showcase. I was second in line and didn’t mind the wait as all the items this place had kept me curious and busy. The smells of espresso beans filled this quaint space so I decided to order a piping hot latte and 2 sandwiches as I always want to new things. I was suggested to try their roast beef and their breakfast sandwich as they were known to be their more popular choices among the regulars here in this pocket area of leisure! I fell to peer pressure and ordered both! I decided to sit outside as it was a gorgeous day in San Marino with views of very fit humans jogging by or glamorous locals walking their dogs. My two sandwiches arrived shortly right after and I at first, was a little overwhelmed to have to eat 2 sandwiches… but I’m sure glad I did! The roast beef was juicy and the bread was hot and crunchy. Their breakfast sandwich was also just as pleasant… steaming hot with a nice«crunch» to their bread when you bite into it! I just love that when bread crunches when you bite into it! Don’t you? The latte washed both sandwiches down as I slouched in my seat pondering for the next few minutes to possibly call off work and just hang out here with the rest of the leisure elite! See you here!

I’m in love with their turkey panini! I am so happy they opened a location closer to me. There is plenty of parking and the staff are super helpful! The only down side is they are a bit expensive so I cannot indulge as often as I would like, otherwise I’d recommend Porta Via to all my friends! Yummy!

I drive by this place all the time after my painful boot camp session, and have been wanting to stop by, but never did until recently. One Sunday, my bf decided that he was going to take the dog for a walk at Garfield Park, which is the location of my boot camp, while I go through an hour long suffer fest. After boot camp, we stopped by here for brunch. The morning we were here, there were no other customers. This is great because we needed outdoor seating so my dog can join us. I ordered their regular coffee, but they mistakenly made me a latte instead, and I do have to say, it was very good. We also ordered the Artisan Salami with Baby Greens, Fresh Mozzarella, Oven Dried Tomatoes & Green Olive Tapenade sandwich to share. The half was big enough to last me until dinner. The greens were fresh and I can taste the dried tomatoes. My dog enjoyed the meat that I gave her. I’d recommend this place if you’re looking for a low key restaurant/café where you can enjoy your food and coffee. Outside seating is also fantastic if you want some Vitamin D and enjoy hearing the cars driving by.

I love this place! Great atmosphere and service. However best part by far was when I took a bite of the breakfast damdwich I ordered. It is the best breakfast sandwich I have ever eaten. That is probably because I like things simple. The California sandwich was über simple. The fresh ingredients and the talent of the chef was made it AMAZING. It wasn’t too pricey at all! Lots of love for this place. Too bad its not in my part of town, totally worth the drive.

My boss wanted to try this place so we decided to place an order for pickup. I ordered the Kobe Style Roast Beef with Pesto Aioli but had I known I was going to get this giant sandwich I would have ordered half! LOL. It was a little hard to eat because it was so big so I just took of the top bread but this sandwich was so good I ate all of it! I also ordered a Caprese Salad on the side and that cheese was so fresh I will definitely be getting the bigger size next time. High quality food and a great option if you want to skip on a fast food joint and try something healthier. Cute little café on the corner of mission. Outdoor seating is perfect for a warm sunny day.

High quality ingredients and a good lunch value! I’ve been trying all the lunch sandwich options within a few miles of here(no chains or fast food) for a while now and I think Porto Via is the best value and most consistent. I love all the sandwiches and their meats really stand out, I’m really selective about the animals I consume, and their meats are high quality, flavorful, moist, not oily or tough. The Italian sandwich is great, the turkey club is a two-meal sandwich for me, the roast beef is great, and the fresh meatball sub is solid comfort food. I think all the sandwiches are under $ 10, which is getting harder and harder to find, and they are hearty! The staff is always friendly and they bust a move, it doesn’t take 30 minutes to get a sandwich like some slacker places. A nice quiet location to sit outside as well! Their food by the pound(pastas, salads, meat) is all excellent as well, but I think the lunch value can’t be beat.

This location isn’t as big as the one in Pasadena — so understandably they don’t have as big of a selection. But still, it’s a great little place for pastas and sandwiches. Even better they started serving breakfast and I highly recommend their Californian egg wrap — it’s the perfect size to share. Their Arnold Palmer’s are terrific and the staff is always super friendly. Be warned though, it can sometimes get busy at random times — and sometimes be empty when you think it’ll be packed. But all in all, it’s a great place when you’re looking for a little something to eat.

I love the Tuscan Panini they have here, their sandwiches aren’t bad neither, plenty of parking in the Back and on the street, I honestly live 5 min walk from here so It’s very convenient, I never know why they always play French music/songs in here, isn’t it Italian? what’s up w that? :)

Love this new location. I decided to call in our order instead of waiting. I ordered a Tuscan panini and half turkey meatball sub with a Cesar salad. The person that took my order said it would take 10 minutes. I hopped into my car as soon as I got off the phone with them. The place is about 3 miles from my house and very easy to find and plenty of parking. When i arrived my food was ready. I always get carried away and like to look at the other things they sell. I was very tempted to pick up some ice cream but I didn’t. I need to stay focused. I did notice that they serve breakfast at this location. I think next weekend I will have to try the breakfast items. I picked up my food and I was on my way. The person that made my order gave us a full turkey meatball instead of the half. Nice! When I got home it was time to eat! Mmm i always get the meatball sub because it is so good. I always tell myself I will get something new but I don’t. I let my husband go for the new stuff and I’ll try his. He got the Tuscan panini and it was good. He doesn’t like tomatoes so he took those out and the sandwich was still good and full of flavors. The turkey was not dry at all. The Caesar salad has freshly shaved Parmesan and it’s homemade dressing. This is my favorite place to grab lunch on the weekends. Can’t wait to come back to try breakfast.

Love Porta Via San Marino Have been to the Pasadena location on California several times, the food has always been excellent. Had breakfast at the San Marino location for the first time, excellent like everything else they serve. Great service, not crowded(yet, but it will be when more people discover they serve the BEST egg sandwiches) Always happy to support a Holy Family family

This is a tough one for me to review. I live spitting distance from Porta Via, and prefer to help small business in the neighborhood. If it wasn’t for the fact they were so close, I think I would probably give them 2 stars. Coffee — 2 stars. The coffee is marginal with any lack of depth. I’ve had about every item on the coffee menu and I feel I am like a battered spouse who just keeps on giving chances and chances. I’ve had the drip, macchiato, capuccino, blended drink, americano. you name it. It’s marginal. My measuring stock is Starbucks when it comes to coffee. If you’re better than Starbucks, you get 4+ stars. If you aren’t, you get 2 stars. Hence 2. Breakfast — 2 stars. It’s really overpriced. The frittata lacked flavor and was greasy. The bacon was sub par. Just really disappointing. The prices aren’t horrible, but food quality is lacking. I would rather go to IHOP. The Lunch — The sandwiches aren’t bad. I’ve had some of the paninis, and have enjoyed some and have disliked some. The roast beef was good. The turkey? Meh. I usually get the meatballs to go. Frankly, the only thing worth getting is the meatball sandwich. I would give 3, but I dock it down a star because the service is extremely slow. For example, it took nearly 10 minutes to get my sandwich. when I was the only one there. They need to do a better job processing order and preparing. The only reason I would recommend is if you live in the neighborhood. I wouldn’t drive to eat here. I give them credit as they have made this café a nice neighborhood spot. But, this neighborhood spot tend to be a convenience.

Love Porta Via San Marino! Love breakfast, especially on Sunday morning! Todd, Billy and the staff are so polite and courteous. Food is always served in a timely fashion with a smile! The frozen mint lemonade is a must, especially on a hot day! As always, food is fresh and delicious!

Always stop by here because it’s close to my house and an easy place to grab a quick and decent quality meal. Pros: Lots of options from salads to paninis with fresh ingredients! Cons: A bit on the pricier side :( Overall, good place to stop for a pretty good quality italian meal with a friend. Also good if you’re just grabbing to go! Staff is friendly

Great meatball sandwich! I accidentally discovered their spumoni icecream behind me in the freezer section! It was delicious! I have to close my eyes when I am at the counter. The treats all call me, but must have will power!!! Love taking my friends, clients and family here when I am able to go out for lunch.

This was my first time trying any Porta Via foods. I got the half italian sub and a half caesar salad. the italian sub was meh i didn’t really finish eating it but the caesar salad was so good ! the dressing is great, the parmasean cheese is light and flaky, and the crutons were the best part. i would definitely eat here again but try a different sandwich. I also got some arabiatta pasta to try for dinner whoo for a drink i got the lemonade julep which was refreshing. Like a frozen lemonade but with little pieces of mint infused. what was disappointing was that it was $ 3.50 !! definitely just getting water next time…

Terrible experience. I go to the pasadena one all the time. Asked for two turkey sandwiches. They only had enough turkey for ½ of a sandwich. Got home and the pasta salad I paid for was not in the bag. Also the ½ turkey was completley dry. No spread, no lettuce, no onion. Very very very dissapointed. Stay away at all costs.
