WORSTSERVICEEVER! Don’t come here if you want your meals to come out together. Food was cold and sub par. The manager was unprofessional. First time coming here for brunch, don’t waste your time and money. There are way too many better options in San Marcos! I WILLNEVERCOMEHEREAGAIN! Vodka Street does not deserve any San Martians business.

I WILLNEVERCOMEBACKHERE. First time here and it lived up to its horrible reputation of bad service and mediocre food. Came in on a Sunday with a group of friends for brunch and half of our party just never received their meal. I don’t recommend coming here for any occasion.

Excellent food and drinks, great service, and the best atmosphere to sit down and eat dinner in San Marcos. The prices are also very reasonable. Highly recommend this place.

We started with the alligator as hubs never tried that before. I’m going to tell you that the Voodoo dippin’ sauce was the shit! If they’d bottle and sell it, I’d buy it and put it on almost everything! After the gator an bloody Marys, we got cheeseburgers. Hubs liked the bun– I did not. I just took the Patty and veg off and thoroughly enjoyed it that way. The meat was well seasoned and tasty; the tomatoes and lettuce were fresh. I missed pickles and onion, but that’s sure not worth griping about. Home made chips with blue cheese didn’t disappoint even a little. I could go everyday for those… Especially if I could get a side of that Voodoo sauce to dip them in. I’m hooked! The staff was friendly, the drinks were fantastic, and the atmosphere fun. I loved all the olive art! This will be a regular hangout for us.

This place is the shit. Don’t listen to those other reviews. Go in the early pm talk to a bartender and have a good conversation. Got the street burger and babe got the voodoo burger. And. In. All honestly this place was better than the other hamburger places in the square. Number one. Their Hawaiian burger are top notch. Their bartenders are cooler ANDANDAND they have better fries. Win in my book. Go early. Go before 11 and beat the hype east crowd.

The atmosphere is good, the bar is wonderful, the service amazing… buuuuuttt…my pizza/Flatbread was soggy and my boyfriends pad Thai was soooo over soy sauced that it was hard to eat. Conclusion, go and have drinks and appetizers… don’t try for fancy. I almost gave it three stars for service and drinks, but sorry, food not great.

I just don’t like this place. I want to like it. I’ve tried my best to like it. I’ve probably had 5 – 6 meals here and the food isn’t very good. I’ve found the wait to be consistently long and the food to anemic and chilly. I can’t say it’s the worst food I’ve eaten but I’m like a goat, I’ll eat pretty much anything and be content. Vodka Street is apparently the exception. It’s just lame. Blech.

Food’s a four, service a 3, and ambience a 1.5. This was the backup plan I used when the family arrived from F1 and found an hour wait to be seated at Root Cellar. As expected, at 6pm there was zero wait for a table. The only other patrons in sight were two senior gentlemen sitting apart and staring at the sports TVs. The only glitch re: the food were that the mussels still printed on the menu are no longer available, and that one person had mayo with her sandwich because they’d run out of ranch. All five orders came out at the same time and had no errors. Everyone loved their food. I had the chevre mac n cheese starter as my meal(yummy, just like the only other time I’ve been here) and the burgers looked fantastic. They have one of my favorite pinot grigios on their wine list, which was a nice surprise. If I’d been offered a refill, I would have taken it. Or two. The waitress was polite, came back to check if we were happy with our orders, refilled everyone’s water glasses twice and cleared the table in a timely fashion. It would have been nice if we’d gotten a little extra attention, but only because it was SO empty in there. We got standard, competent service with no errors, so looking at some other reviews I’m calling it a win. My brother is not a guy that’s into shock value, especially at the table, so I believe him when he said everything in the men’s room was broken including the drinking glass in one of the toilets. I was shocked at the bill because it was so cheap for some really good food. Less than $ 60 to feed all of us(granted, without starters or mixed drinks) which is probably half what I usually spend feeding this exact group of adults for dinner. Draw your own conclusions about my sense of risk or standards: the food was just too good to give up hope… this place is staying on my back-up emergency list.

Went with a bunch of co-workers. Service was slowest I’ve ever had, food was good. They are supposedly famous for their burgers which are good but very small for over $ 7. Drinks were excellent.

I have not experience the nightlife here. But I do experience afternoon lunches or a early dinner on occasion. The have a diverse menu, as well as a wide selection of cocktails. So far I’m stuck on the Irish coffee they serve, yum!

I push for 4 stars because of the staff. The policies here allow for them to, at their discretion, have a shot with you or a drink. Which defiantly allows them to become a bit more invested in you the patron. The interior wasn’t too much to remark on, it definitely meets the needs, but I can’t help but think it could use a little more sprucing up. This is a smoking establishment so if your not interested in having a little smoke about stay away from the patio area. The food was absolutely awesome!!! The avocado salmon tacos were to die for. Well worth it to stop in for dinner. Plus they have alligator!

There are two basic things to know about Vodka Street. Their food is DIVINE and their service needs a lot of help. Every time I have been there, the food is seriously amazing, unique, inexpensive with a gourmet taste to it. Also every time I have been there, there either all new people working and have NOIDEA what they are doing, or they just seem kind of ditzy. I still keep coming back though since the food is so good! PS— I wouldnt come here after 11pm, it gets PACKED. Not in a fun way.

I’ve eaten here twice before and had great service and awesome food… this was NOT the case on my last trip(about a month ago). Young wait staff is something you except in a college town, but if you are going to take a job waitressing at least do your job. We had THEWORST service ever here. Our very young waitress was obviously inexperienced. I can look past that as long as they are trying. Our waitress was wearing wedges she could hardly walk in, not appropriate for a waitressing job. Then she sat down at the bar writing on a piece of paper, never even glancing at our table to see if we needed anything. Drinks were empty on multiple occasions for 10+ minutes… ridiculous. The food was not impressive at all on this trip. I cannot say I would waste another trip to eat here again. Go across the street to Tap Room… save yourself from making the same mistake we made today. Super disappointed.

Went here as a suggestion from a worker at the embassy suites my friends and I were staying at for an event. A good group of us made this our stop on a Friday night. We just wanted dinner and a drink or two. First off, it wasn’t that busy so I should have taken that as a hint. Took our waitress forever to get over to us and get our drink order in and we told her we wanted to get food as well. She brought over our drinks and I thought it was a joke. All you could taste was the mixer in each one. I asked the waitress what the pour was(ounces of alcohol for each drink) and she looked at me like I just asked her to solve world hunger. Dumb. Didn’t get an answer so I went to ask the bartender, who didn’t have a smile on her face the entire time we were there, and asked her. At first she wanted to act like she didn’t know what I was asking either. She knew, that I knew, that she short-poured our drinks. Okay, already unimpressed with your waitress and now your bartender. We’ll go somewhere else. When the manager came over to handle our obvious complaint he acted like he was being put out by our situation. He begrudgingly offered to get us new drinks. No thanks, your attitude stinks too. Bad customer service all around. As someone who has been in the service industry for a very long time, it surprised me. I’d walk the 30 feet over to the Tap Room across the street and get better drinks and service and have a better time.

It wasn’t as high-end as the name implies, but the tapas were excellent. Odd assortment of cuisines, from Asian to Cajun and Philly cheesesteaks. My burger was good and my daughter’s shrimp tacos were good(the lobster bisque poured on top was pre-fab but tasty and a nice touch), but my wife’s avocado tacos with fish were overcooked. Semi-decent selection of beer on tap. Besides my wife’s tacos, the biggest complaint would be the casual dress of the staff there. The name implied something a little more upscale. But they were attentive and pleasant. Not bad — especially for San Marcos.

I can not figure out why this place isn’t busy? Good Food and Decent selection of beer on tap. Yet every time I go in there(even Saturday night), the place is dead. The service is good, but maybe a little too casual for the bar tending staff. It stuck out that the last bar tender looked like she was either on her way to the gym or just getting back from the gym… Parking can be tough down town San Marcos. Worth grabbing some food and drink.

The old Wine Cellar turned to a mashup of different cuisines.(?) I’m glad we came here after walking out of Sean Pat’s on a busy Thursday night. Our server, Ava, was sharp and on top of it. I was dehydrated and she refilled my cup at least 4 times b4 it went empty. Pros: The burgers… Watch out tap room, these guys have it down. I had the Street Special(½lb party, melted cheddar, crispy Bacon, grilled red onions, and fresh jalapeños, and topped with fried egg). I skipped the egg, and was still very impressed. Cons: The seafood stuff. My bf liked his crawfish poboy– I didn’t. Seafood gumbo tasted like canned roux. Crowd: A mix of locals and college kids, but the mellow kind not the«Omg wtf» kind. :) I’m giving them a 3 for now until they iron out some of the items on the menu.
