Reeves Charles, DDS

I hate to admit that I’ve been putting off going to the dentist for over a year… because I’m not a fan of going to the dentist. Who is? I knew I didn’t want to go to an office with a million different dentists; where you never see the same dentist twice. I looked at the list of dentists that accepted my insurance in the San Marcos area and noticed that Dr. Reeves looked to be the only dentist in his office and his office was right up the street from where I work. I made the appointment & dreaded it up until the moment that I walked through the door. The office staff were very friendly and escorted me to the room right away. Dr. Reeves walked in promptly, introduced himself and got right to work. I kept wondering when the hygienist was going to come in to take over, because in this day and time dentists normally come in for 2 or 3 minutes after all the cleaning has been done to check your teeth. Not at Dr. Reeves’ office! He did EVERYTHING! And he thoroughly explained what he was doing and what he was looking for. I was so impressed! I think I’ve found my dentist for life. One very satisfied patient!

The nuts and bolts:
Dr Reeves’ office was able to get me in quickly, and was efficient in dealing with my records and insurance. The wait in the lobby was minimal, and the care was good.
Dr Reeves is clearly experienced (about 20 years, I think), and he was thorough in his treatment. He was also mindful of the limitations and allowances of my insurance plan.
Beyond the nuts and bolts:
First, I’m not someone who fears dental visits. That said, none of his staff that I met treated me with any warmth at all. The vibe of the place was a little disjointed, uncomfortable. This likely has to do with Dr Reeves’ personality. I say this with the utmost compassion and respect: his demeanor reminded me of someone on the autism spectrum… with a rather awkward distance in his communication, and an unease with connection.
To be fair, everyone has different perceptions, and if my rating were based solely on the technical stuff, these guys would get 5 stars. However, because I’m someone to whom the intangible matters, and because I realize that lots of folks have fears about going to the dentist, I can only give 4 stars.

Not a fan of going to the Dentist (who is??) but Dr. Reeves is great. He talks while he’s working, letting you know, in layman’s terms, what he’s doing and why. He is gentle and took extra time to work on some old fillings that needed replacing. He was really great. Now I won’t have a hard time getting myself to the Dentist! Thank you!!!

My daughter went to Dr. Reeves and really liked him. He and his staff were very kind and professional. She had her 18 mo. son with her and the appointment ended up taking longer then they had planned due to some problem teeth. So the receptionist kept my grandson and entertained him the entire time, which ended up being over an hour. That says alot in itself.
