As always, you fellow Unilocalers steer me to the right spots. My Philly cheesesteak was made the way I like it. It looked too big to eat all by myself but, once started, I could not stop! Note: the bread was so soft and melt-​in-​your-​mouth yummy. By the way, I «checked in» when we arrived, and got a free giant drink to go with. Sweet!

I suddenly felt the need to drive an Oldsmobile 88 fully equipped with bags of lye and a shovel in the trunk. Then go back to my row House and watch Rocky Balboa movies while wearing a marinara stained wife beater yelling about my one big chance to make something of myself!

I absolutely love this place! REAL Philly Cheese Steaks! I’ve been coming here since I was 4 years old! So about 17 years now! And it’s still as delicious as I remember! I get the cheese steak with chopped onions and mushrooms and eat it with side of jalepeno’s mhm!!!

First off let me start off with WOW!!! This place is beyond amazing, it’s family owned and ran and each and everyone of them is very nice and welcoming. The food is sooo good. It was my first time having a Philly cheesesteak sandwich and it was a life changer. You can tell this family is using the best of the best. The bread melts in your mouth, the meat is not chewy and everything comes together very well. (I inhaled my sandwich) I also had the fries with the cheese wiz and I can definitely say the stuff I buy at the store will no longer satisfy me. I will be raving about this place any chance I get.

Service: she was very sweet, the service was fast. We used the free. drink after we finished the food and she still gave it to us no questions asked.
Food: the fries were crispy and hot, so was the onion rings. The cheese steak was had good flavor but the meat barely contained any cheese.
Cons: the cheesesteaks needs more cheese.
I would still come because overall, the food was food, and the portions were large.

This place is absolutely astounding!
Authentic, quality, cheese steak with onions. It was absolutely great. Yes, it costs a bit more, but who eats this every day? I loved it and will certainly go back many more times. The fries are unnecessary for me, but the cheese steak is beyond fantastic.

The Staff is awesome! The girl who helped me today she was so nice! I called to order a few sandwiches and they were ready in no time!!! Now, I’ve never been to Philly for a Cheese Steak, but I’m sure this is the real deal!

Best Philly chest steak on the west coast, hands down. My go to place for a Philly craving. A little pricey, but we’ll worth the bucks. Check in and you get a monster size large drink. I always get steak, cheese, mushroom and onions with an order if cheese fries and crush it.

Definitely one of my favorites for a Philly. I always opt for the steak/​provolone/​onions though I’ve tried the peppers/​mush. And gotta have the fries too. I am unaware of any other place that will make ‘em just like they do in PA. With the others, either the meat is too course, too greasy or the bread is too hard or soft. These guys know how to get it done right. Where else can I get a tasty sandwich by a rough-​around-​the edges order taker?
I estimate the price range /​person at $ 11+ cause I can never just order one…
Upgrade to 5 stars because there is no alternative in town.

The praise is well deserved for Philly Franks. At this point, both cheesesteak chains predominant to this area, Jersey Mike’s and Gaglione Bros, are offering things like Amoroso rolls as a token of their authenticity. And Gaglione Brothers hits the mark well for a chain, but Philly Franks is pumping out the best steaks in town from their non-​descript location in a run down strip center in San Marcos.
The location is small, but there was a good crowd there on a recent Wednesday evening. As any self respecting cheesesteak purveyor would offer, they do offer Whiz on their steaks, to go along with a variety of other sandwiches. The quality of the meat, grilled onions, roll, pretty much everything, is unmatched in this area.
If you’re in a pinch, sure, hit one of the chains, but if you’re anywhere near Philly Franks, it’s worth stopping by.

Consistent awesome service with amazing ooey gooey cheesesteak yumminess. Slather on the hot sauce, cheezwhiz, ranch and meat with no shame. Always leave happy, full, and feeling awesome for supporting a mom n’ pop that earns its stars. Definitely a go to that earned my business! Highly recommended!

Spontaneously went here solely based on its great reviews. However I was highly disappointed, I ordered the works without mushrooms and my boyfriend ordered the works with everything and pizza fries to share.
The sandwich was editable… To say the least. It just had no flavor and the cheese it came with tastes like cheese from a can. It was nothing special.
The pizza fries were nothing more than the same cheese from a can and tomato sauce. The two toppings sound simple but were very overpowering.
I genuinely did not like anything other than my sprite.
