Since becoming a combination KFC/​LJS, this location has completely gone to the dogs with a smaller menu, thin leathery overcooked fish, a shabby dining room in need of a renovation, and a filthy bathroom in need of supplies and cleaning. No wonder it was the height of lunchtime, yet there were hardly any patrons there. Listen up whoever owns this place — Maybe if you pull that dry piece of fish out of your ear, you can save this place before it’s too late…

Finally Big Sid has Come Back to San Marcos! Now, Big Sid does enjoy Kentucky Fried Chicken & Long John Silver’s, let’s be clear, this low rating isn’t because of the food, It’s because of the CONSISTENT bad service and unclean lobby/​dinning area.
First off when ordering, Big Sid does not, AND BIG SID MEANS DOES NOT, like to be interrupted every other five or six words. Granted Big Sid understands that the order taker needs to know the side items wanted, the sizes, whether the order is for dine in or carry out, and even if two people are ordering together. Big Sid says, «How about you «Know Your Role, Shut Your Mouth», be patient and listen, then Big Sid will probably answer your questions. Meaning your «CandyAss» needs to be retrained on order taking.
Next, would someone PLEASE explain to Big Sid why the lobby of this place ALWAYS FREAKING DIRTY? «IT DOESN’T MATTER» what tune of day you go to this location it’s ALWAYS uncleaned. Tables, floors, seating, soda fountain, and NOT even gonna talk about the bathrooms! Terrible.
Big Sid says, «The Corp Office» needs to pay more attention to the upkeep on the staff and the facilities itself, because Big Sid WILL NOT be coming back anytime soon to dine in. Well that’s it for me on this one, «Until next time America», this is Big Sid out.

I first thought that this would be a good place to get my SOUTHERN FIX with a bucket of fried fish and fried shrimps. But, man, it was too much: too much food (fried food), too much oil, too much batter, and lack of seafood in comparison.. . The worst thing is when I got home, I felt too bloated, too thirsty (because of all that oil and salt kicking in), and had a serious bout of buyer’s remorse. This was not a case of my Southern Fix, but a Southern «imitation» Fix. I had to chow down lettuce and an apple to keep my system from revolting.
The dismal upkeep of the place, particularly the bathrooms, being filthy was the last straw that will keep me away from this joint.

On my way to work I stopped at this place, as I was craving some fish and chips with all the vinegar I can handle. The cashier was an older lady but very friendly. The location is clean and merged with Kentucky fried chicken I like there interior décor and the bathrooms were clean and airconditioned.

Thank God there is a Long John Silvers in north county!!! Originally from St. Louis, we had these everywhere! I love fried fish and LJS is up there in my book! I’ve had some of the local fish places, but they just don’t compare. LJS batter has flavor and great seasonings! I was afraid they had closed the LJS portion of this combo KFC location, as there is no signage outside for along John Silvers. Thank goodness for Unilocal listing it. I had the fish and shrimp, perfect as always, and had two sides of their scrumptious onion rings!!! I can’t say enough, it was so good to have lunch here!
I met the owner of the franchise and what a great guy! He was very attentive! And the rest of the crew here were very friendly. I will be back!

I have a serious weakness for the batter here at LJS. The greasy, salty, buttery tasting batter is a guilty pleasure of mine. My grandparents would take me to LJS during lent as a kid so I have fond memories of coming here and ringing the bell for a job well done.
The stuff is all previously frozen and deep fried. It’s a caloric nightmare and I clutch my chest with every visit here. I still come back every so often, drive through only, extra vinegar, so I can eat all by my self, free from judgement.

The girl in the drive thru around noon is awesome. I have been twice recently and she was a pleasure both times. Good job.

Guess I came at a bad time… Somebody didn’t clean up after themselves! Take a look at the mess of a place!!! My food still tasted good though hahaha

the shrimp here is not deveined properly! so i was eating shrimp poop. the manager wasnt even sympathetic. didnt say sorry or nothing. the only one who was concerned was London. i wont be back here.

There was a young white guy his name was Brian, just before the restaurant closed he was very polite with excellent service and a great smile on his face. Food was great too so we’ll be going back again!

I wouldn’t write a review over a few mistakes I understand completely how it can happen I worked in the restaurant business for years, the one thing I can’t stand is management abuse… my order was taken by a manager and messed up by her, from the order and the items too me having to return to fix it. That I can over look and forgive.
But to say that the young crew is not paying attention is rude and abusive in my eyes. She was at fault no other, I can’t imagine the condition these young folks are working in. I come to this kfc often im always very pleased with the service and the food. And yes its always one of the young workers, I always comment in how on top of things they are and how cool it is how they do an inventory of what you ordered before bagging it. To me 5 stars all the way… But today a huge line was crossed in ethics and its only fair someone points it out…

This was a nice surprise on my way home. Actually was looking for another restaurant when I drove by Long Johns. I actually made a u turn. Great way to go home with our favorite dinner. Will have to remember this gem is here

I seriously thought I wrote a review for this place AGES ago… wait, that was probably the last time I had been here before braving the drive thru last week. The last time the kid inside the store was goofy & nice, but jacked the order up and took a while. There were some things that were annoying that I can’t remember now, but this time, I was in the area and thought I’d be nice to the husband by bringing him home some KFC.
There were two cars in front of me at the order speaker when I got in line. I couldn’t see if any cars were around the corner awaiting food. It took TEN minutes to get to the order speaker. that is an actual amount of time, not and exaggeration. When I ordered, I was told they didn’t have any extra crispy wings, so would I be okay with a drumstick. I said okay. Once I placed my order, it took TEN minutes to get to the window to pick up my food. First question, is that in that ten minutes, you couldn’t have made some more extra crispy??? Thank goodness that as my food was being bagged, the lady happened to SHOW me the clams I ordered before closing the box. THEY WERE BURNED. She says, «oh, they look a little well done… here try one». I try one. burnt. So she makes me more. Fine. I would have been REALLLLY cranky had I gotten home with those burned clams!
25 minutes later, I’m on my way.
I get home. The clams are fine, but my two hush puppies were completely saturated with grease and inedible. I’m done with this place.

I ordered two Shrimp+More, the shrimp is supposed to be breaded, however, mine was unbreaded hard fried shrimp. I didn’t phone the store because I knew they would be closed, however, I took pictures of the shrimp. I called the next day, and was told they don’t make good on substitutions. How can they substitute anything without informing me and getting an okay? I told them this order was unacceptable. They said they would have someone phone me; I never heard back from anyone after a week, which is today, no contact.

Found this location four weeks ago. Been there 3 times so far. Great Clams and service was good. Thanks!

Long John Silvers are few and far between, but Shannon M has a thing for their fish, so we stopped in for a quick bite when we saw the place from the street.
The place is actually a KFC/​Long John Silver’s combo, meaning you can order from either menu. I opted for a fish sandwich, which is not on the menu, but if you ask, they will make it for you. The fish was flakey and good, and the batter was buttery and greasy. the sandwich comes with lettuce, tomato, and tartar sauce. It’s tasting than than the filet o fish at the golden arches.
This guy gives the fish sandwich two thumbs up and a shiver me timbers!

I saw some of the other reviews and decided to dine in rather than drive thru. After ordering, they told me it would be 5 minutes, as they were going to make the fish fresh. I don’t mind when they tell you up front that there will be a delay as long as the food is delivered fresh and it was. I had 3 pieces of fish, fries and a soda. The fish was excellent and the fries were just ok. I would definitely order the fish again.
The only turn offs was that they had just opened and there was no soap in the bathroom dispenser and the mat by the soda machine was so sticky that I don’t think it had been cleaned in a long time. When you walked away from the soda area you could feel your shoes sticking to the floor. The rest of the store and the bathrooms were clean. The customer service was excellent.

I’ve been here a couple of times before but today just sucked. First off, because this is a KFC/​Long John Silvers, they don’t have the potato wedges as a side item. I asked for a a Sierra Mist drink with my order. When I got to the window she said it was a lemonade. I corrected her and even though she never moved from the window she handed me what was supposed to be what I ordered. When I got home and delivered the food to my daughter it turned out I had only been given iced water. WTF? Oh also, the boneless chicken was gross and more like pressed meat. Not coming to this location ever again.

If you want your drive-​thru order screwed up, even though you corrected them at the speaker, at the pay window, and at the pick up window, eat here. Seriously. This wasn’t even a special order. We asked for nothing unusual. AND, they violated food laws by asking for the cob of corn back in exchange for the bowl of sweet corn. The kids working here are apparently in a perpetual game of grab ass and don’t give two shits about what they are doing. Avoid at all cost.

I went here yesterday because I was craving for some fried fish and chips. I don’t go here too often but when I do it always leaves me asking, «why did I come here again?»
Ok not to be too mean, but it’s really not that bad. But on the other hand, it’s really not that good either. I had the fish planks meal that consisted of two fish planks, chips, and hushpuppies? I can’t remember the name of the circular bread things. Anyways, the fish isn’t too bad. It just tastes a bit bland. I add a lot of malt vinegar to it to add some flavor to it. The chips are mediocre at best.
It’s alright if you’re in the mood for it but otherwise you might want to try Rubio’s that shares the same parking lot.
