Golden Sabre Academy

My son has been fencing at Golden Sabre Academy for five months. I cannot say enough positive things about this club. Sergey is a firm but fair coach. He expects hard work and encourages every fencer to do their best both on and off the strip. The facility is top notch with plenty of space and equipment and membership fees are unbelievably affordable. I would urge anyone who is interested in fencing to check out Golden Sabre Academy.

GSA is a top notch sabre fencing club. Students receive excellent training and enjoy working hard individually and together under Coach Sergey’s leadership. Coach is very accomplished in his own career as a fencer, has great teaching skills and credentials, and has a passion for this sport which is contagious. Coach trains students to think strategically and prepare mentally, not just perform tactically. He is firm, holding students to high expectations, but he is also generous with encouraging words, knowing when each student is trying his or her best. Sergey’s investment in his students is evident: after students leave the gym for the day, he continues to think about how to move his fencers forward and sends families helpful information (articles, announcements, videos) by email about sabre fencing strategies, techniques, competition opportunities (individual and team), tips for college-​bound fencers, etc. Sergey and his family foster an energetic and family-​oriented culture at GSA — students and parents alike enjoy being a part of this friendly and dynamic club.

Our son has been fencing at Golden Sabre Academy for a few months now, and he loves it. He has just had his first competition, and the amount of confidence he has gained is just amazing. Sergey is a demanding but kind coach that cares about our son’s character as much as he does fencing. The facilities are great too. There is a room for parents to relax and watch their children fence on a big screen television, there is a room for the kids to relax and play while they are waiting to be picked up, and there is a kitchen/​breakroom where everyone can store and eat their snacks. On top of that, Sergey and Marina communicate all the time with parents via email and in person. I highly recommend Golden Sabre Academy.

I have been involved in fencing in variety of capacities on and off for about 40 years.
Visited GSA last weekend. Very impressed with facilities and location. Close to the freeway, many stores/​restaurants nearby. The salle itself puts safety and comfort of fencers first. There are separate well appointed rooms for parents, kids, homework doing students, etc. Coaching is on very high level, the club has produced in short time a few national event medalists. Looking forward to more results, great athletes from the Golden Sabre Academy.

We found this fantastic fencing club just two weeks ago and enrolled. My daughter so happy, she can’t wait for each next class and everyday home does exercise which coach recommended her. Coach Sergey is very high qualified instructor in fencing. He is a ideal person to teach kids, because he cares not only about fencing skills, but developing good characters, leadership, love to sport, strength and self confidence in his students. And there are so much fun too for kids. if to talk about facility — it is so amazing. New, so clean, so pleasant. Everything created for enjoyment of athletes and their parents. You must come and see it!!! Highly recommended it.

1^st day of my son classes. He loved it. Great feeling, Sergey and his wife Marine made our family feels like home. We strongly recommend Golden Sabre Academy!!!

This club is like the best-​kept secret in San Diego fencing. It just opened a few months ago, but the coach … (Serge) is outstanding. He’s passionate about fencing and really cares about his students. He focuses on physical fitness as well as excellent fencing technique, and he’s already produced top nationally-​ranked youth fencers. We drive over 20 miles to take lessons and classes at GSA although there are clubs closer to us.
