We tried it and it was OK… Overpriced compared to other equivalent restaurants in my opinion. Wife would rather have gone Panda Express as she didn’t think it was really better, or at least not for double the cost. Overall the food was a tad blend for us. Fried rice, chow mein, chow fun all needed help from side soy sauce and spicy sauce. A tad disappointing. Orange chicken was good though, with candied orange peels in it.

I came here for lunch with a friend a couple of weeks ago. I had been looking forward to trying this place because there aren’t many Chinese places in the area, but it was not at all what I was expecting. On the brighter sides: the décor is beautiful; however the restaurant was really dark inside, so we decided to sit by the window. Not only did they mix up our orders, but the food was pretty bland. Definitely not worth the fairly expensive prices they have you paying. I don’t plan on going back.

This place isn’t bad, but it isn’t that great either. Saracha is a new sauce and not Chinese. They do not have toasted chili pepper in oil sauce, nor do they cook with it. Ambiance is high, hence, what you are paying for… pricey.

Simple and easy Chinese food served up daily and delicious. Think of this place as a fancier Panda Express. You’ll find most of the same things on the menu as far as the Orange Chicken, Mushroom Chicken, or Veggie dish goes(just in a different name) and a little more. I came here the other night with my friends and out of a table of two asians and a white gal, I started to feel out of place! Haha, as the other guest started to walk into the restaurant to get in an early dinner, I slowly started to notice that my friend and I were the only asian people in the restaurant, besides the other people working. We ordered and our food came out right away. Super delicious and awesome. Friendly staff helped make my friends decision when she wanted a bowl of soup that cost $ 5 and the larger soup that was only a few bucks more and got more with it too.

I only recommend China Wokery for lunch, everything I’ve eaten has been excellent. I was there for dinner last Wednesday and it totally changed my mind about recommending them for dinner. Everything is extra. No tea, no wontons, no soup are included with dinner. With lunch you get an entrée, soup and rice. A small cup of egg drop soup was $ 4.50. I could see paying that for a bowl of soup, but not a cup of soup. They only give you one scoop of rice to go with an entrée that feeds two. I had chicken lo mien, soup, and iced tea, the bill was $ 26.00, I will continue to enjoy lunch here but I won’t be coming back for dinner ever again.

How do you give negative stars??? The most disturbing experience of my life. My husband and I came here to have dinner tonight for the first time. We ordered an egg drop soup, egg rolls, white rice and orange chicken. I was eating my soup and looked down and saw a gnat in my soup bowl!!! Omg I was so grossed out. We called the waiter over and showed him and he quickly said«let me take it off your bill!» We said ok and should have left then… Our orange chicken and rice arrived and about half way through the meal, what do you know… another freaking gnat on my plate!!! It was almost funny because it was so unbelievable. We called the waiter over and showed him and he quickly said«I can bring you another rice but I cannot take anything else off your bill.» Not even an apology and we never asked for anything off of our bill. At this point we weren’t going to eat anything more and I asked for his manager. While he went to get him, me and my husband were trying to figure out why only my plates had the bugs. Then I realized it must be the soy sauce since only I use it. So I poured some onto a plate and OMG… more gnats!!! When the manager came over he and the waiter proceeded to argue with us about the freshness of their food. Finally we told them if they make us pay, we are calling our CC company to cancel the charge. They finally said fine, just pay for the drinks. Ugh. Worst $ 6.40 ever spent.

Soup was horrible!!! Like water! Not even with soy sauce tasted like something. We wanted duck which was on the menu online and they said they took it off of the menu years ago! So update your menu online! We order Mongolian beef and I couldn’t eat it and Kung Pao shrimp was undercooked! Service was terrible, our experience was so bad! We were a party of 6. Overprice, dirty tables and the soy bottle so dirty we had to use a napkin to touch it it.

GOODFOOD, BADSERVICE. Egg rolls were very greasy. Oil may not have been hot enough. Orange chicken was great. I always order with white meat. Fried rice was pretty good too. The server forgot a dish and she was exceptionally rude.

Everything was really great tasting! I’d give it 5 stars except the service was a bit slower than I’d would have expected for an early dinner arrival. We got to the restaurant shortly after opening time, 5 pm and were the 3rd table to be seated. It took like 40 mins to get our food. It may be take out business, but either way, I believe in house customers should never be put on hold for the sake of making call-in orders a priority.

Absolutely one of the better Chinese restaurants in the area. Upscale and clean with delicious food and terrific service. Whether I come in often or not for an extended period of time, our waiter always remembers us and what we like. That’s always impressive. Very comfortable, open atmosphere. Yes, the food is a little on the pricey side but its extremely high quality and they do not skimp on the portions. Worth checking out ~ give them a try, you’ll be glad you did. 謝謝你的美味的食品和服務

Lunch was good, big portions. Had shredded pork in garlic sauce with rice, noodles, and soup. Service was prompt and friendly. The down side is that lunch was a bit expensive but nevertheless, very good.

I only get take-out from this place when my parents visit. They like it. I think the food is average but really overpriced. There are no prices online so when you call in your order, you have no idea what the final bill will be. Not my go-to place for Chinese food. but I’m sure I’ll be back when my parents are in town.

The food here is really good. I’ve been a customer for about 10 years but never had a rock in my food. Very disappointing. Can’t understand where it would of come from. I ordered the chicken in black bean sauce.

This was my first time at China Wokery. We were looking for a Chinese Buffet to go to around Escondido on Father’s Day, but since Pan Asia was packed and over a 2 hour wait to get seated, we found ourselves here. I called ahead and the host I spoke to seemed nice and eager to have us come as there was no wait for a group of 6 at lunch time. Upon arriving I immediately noticed their classic, but modern Chinese décor and there was plenty of seating, but it was a bit too dark for my liking. Our server was nice and attentive and our food came at the right times. However, I didn’t feel like I was at an authentic Chinese restaurant when we asked for beef and chinese broccoli and they didn’t have it. The food we did order was average, although we really enjoyed the Orange Peel Chicken. It was crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and the sauce was perfect and not too wet that the meat was drenched in it. My fiancé and I enjoy pan fried noodles and were happy to see it served the way we like it where we mixed it ourselves. I ordered the duck, but was a little disappointed to see it was burnt and slightly dry. Overall, I think this place is your average Chinese sit-down restaurant, but a little too expensive for what you actually get.

I’ve been here once and I believe it was back in high school. Came here for father’s day. Last minute choice, especially that most restaurants were packed after getting out of church. Atmosphere: One of the finest Chinese restaurant decors you’ll ever see. Subtle ambiance. lots of seating. Plenty of Chinese roots surrounding your dining experience. Food: –Wor Wonton Soup(small portion. had to buy 2. good broth. wontons are ok.) –Orange Peel Chicken(awesome dish. highly recommended) –House Lo Mein(it was ok. nothing special. had better.) –Beef Pan Fried Noodle(good portion. –Bok Choy & Chinese Mushrooms(kind of a small portion. sauteed perfectly) –Half Order Crispy Duck(good portion. however, the duck was burnt and slightly dry) –Shrimp Fried Rice(was ok. plenty of shrimp. didn’t really like the bean sprouts in it) Service: Good service. It wasn’t that busy(especially during Father’s day) about 5 tables occupied. Staff was very attentive. Beverages were always filled without asking. Food was promptly served. Overall: Good experience. Good Service. But only 2 stars, because for the price and portion that you pay here, you can get better quality Chinese food with bigger portions somewhere else. Seems like you’re paying for the ambiance here. I guess the reason why I’ve only been here once and couldn’t remember much was because of the lack of portions and expensive pricing.

I liked the décor and polite, helpful staff. However, I thought the food was meh. We tried the lo mein which was rather bland as were the chicken dumplings. The mu shu pork was mediocre. The orange peel chicken was the most flavorful dish we tried. The chicken was crispy, the orange rinds had a candied effect and the sauce was okay. FYI-any dish they caution as spicy is not really spicy.

This is a nice chinese place for my cravings. After finding just non-vegetarian food at most of the chinese places, this place seems to havea number of options for veggies and the menu is NOT overwhelming for anyone. They just have their specialities rather than dumping everything in the menu. The noodles which I ordered were also super good. The portions are big and good for sharing. The staff is really nice and friendly. Finally found a nice chinese place near me! :D
