The chicken is pretty decent but the restaurant itself is never clean. Every time I walk in there I am met by a dirty dining area and unfriendly stares coming from unenthusiastic employees manning the counter. This concerns me because if the dining area is dirty; the kitchen must be worse. My advice is clean the place up and try not to look so miserable.

The chicken is way, way too dry… Fries were way too salty. The biscuit and roll were obviously left out because of staleness and dryness. The one in Kyle is super awesome. The meat there is always juicy and yummy.

The food is typical CE food. Good, but not great. The quality of the service is severly lacking, though. A simple enough to-go order resulted in being shorted one side, which seemed like it was a world of trouble to make right. Hey, it was just fries, for Pete’s sake! Also, no utensils to be found. Luckily, I was headed home and didn’t have to drink the cole slaw. The unforgivable, though, was that there was no tartar sauce in either of the catfish dinners. Really, do I have to ask for that? Is that an extra quarter now on top of the eight dollars and change? If you venture in, check your order for EVERYTHING before you leave, not just major components.

Decent food, but they want to charge you .25 per sauce no matter what you order. A sign posted on the drive thru window and on the door states something like: All sauces are .25 each no matter what you order. No free sauces. Come on whats next charging for napkins, paying to use the bathroom. Give me a break.

For some reason Austin doesn’t have a Chicken Express and it’s a damn shame. If I’m in San Marcos or passing through I like to stop here for some guaranteed deliciousness. I always order the 6 piece chicken liver meal and they always give me at least 12. I certainly don’t NEED12 chicken livers but it’s nice to be able to make two meals out of it. The corn nuggets are also fantastic in that«I can’t believe I’m eating fried creamed corn» sort of way. The fact that you can get one of those(also fried) pies as a side is brilliant. The customer service at this location is also great. One time they forgot my friend’s aforementioned corn nuggets. When I went in and told them this they seemed very concerned(because corn nuggets are serious business!). The manager came right out, gave us 5 free biscuits(«Stick them in the microwave for a few seconds, put some honey on ‘em — sweet as pie,» he told me) AND an extra(read: unnecessarily) large order of corn nuggets. Thank you, Chicken Express, for providing me with ridiculous amounts of fried food when the mood strikes.

My new roommate and I went here on Sunday after a birthday party. We ordered and our total was about 17dollars for just the two of us. My roommate got chicken legs that did NOT have any meat on them. However the thighs tasted okay, The mashed potatoes tasted like it was made from the box, and they were runny. The biscuits were dry. Needless to say, we don’t plan on going here again.
