This place can’t be duplicated if you tried. No frills, great Italian food. If you like cloth napkins, extensive menus, and overpriced gourmet cuisine, steer clear of here. If great food, friendly service, and a charming, quaint dining experience is what you seek… welcome!

Amaaaaaazing! I live in Encinitas and because of how delicious this place is its worth the drive. It’s more of a takeout or delivery to your home kind of place. You won’t be disappointed with the authenticity Italian flavors in the food! It was my boyfriends first time and he got the chicken parm and ate every last bite… my go to is the manicotti and it’s so consistent.

I’ve been eating pizza from Casa Angelo since the early 90’s. I’m here to tell you that they make the Best Pizza Ever! This is coming from an East Coaster, who knows great pizza. Got a pie to go there last night, sausage and green peppers. It smelled SO good, that Iiterally ate 2 pieces in my car! What I REALLY love about this unassuming family restaurant, is its consistency. Same friendly owners who remembered me after so many years. The taste and quality of the food was just like I remembered. I think the crust may be my favorite part, lol. I honestly don’t think their prices have changed in 25 years! Check it out, you will keep coming back, Mama Mia!

My husband and I love family owned businesses and don’t mind dining in a «hole in the wall». We adore Italian food and had seen the coupons for a family special for years and wanted to give this restaurant a try. We were the only ones in there on a Saturday night – soon it became obvious why. Our order consisted of a large 3 topping pizza, one order of spaghetti with meat sauce, one order of lasagna, anti pasta salad and garlic bread. There was no soda vending machine– we ended up buying a large bottle of Pepsi to save a little money over purchasing cans of soda– still ridiculously over-priced. We received paper cups with no ice – and it seemed to take forever for those to arrive at our table. The salad was pitiful –mostly iceberg lettuce. The pizza was worse than Chuck-E-Cheese – although it did have abundant toppings. My 8 year old daughter, who loves any kind of lasagna, was only able to eat a couple of bites of her dish. The spaghetti was ok. The best part of the meal was the garlic bread. We feel really bad for the couple running this restaurant — I’m sure they mean well but it takes a much greater effort and keen business sense to run a competitive restaurant these days. I don’t think 2 people can handle the job — you have to spend money to make money. I don’t get the 4 star reviews and really don’t understand how this establishment has survived this long. Our only thought is that it changed ownership recently. Go to Mama’s and Papa’s in Vista instead — they have spectacular service and the food is better than any Italian restaurant in San Diego County.

Charming Italian Restaurant I’ve worked down the street from this cute mom and pop restaurant for over a year and am disappointed that I didn’t venture in sooner. I’m so happy that I’ve tried the classically authentic chicken parmigiano. The breading was perfectly seasoned and not too heavy. For $ 11 bucks, I received two pieces of delicious parmigiano ontop of delicious homade marinara with perfectly cooked spahetti noodles, two healthy pieces of garlic bread and a garden salad. Wonderful customer service from the friendly older couple that own the restaurant.

Can’t believe I haven’t tried their pizza before. Their sauce is so good and flavorful. Their dough has a subtle sweetness to it, it’s perfect! I ordered for pick up and the lady that helped me was so sweet. I came without a coupon but she gave me a discount anyway. Definitely going to be my go to pizza place while in town! Delicious and not at all greasy!

I love the meatball subs! Get them on special, Monday and Friday. A lot of sub for a small amount of cash!

What a great family owned and run restaurant. Came in for the Lasagna special… an amazing deal. $ 3.99 for a nice slice and garlic bread. Added the salad for $ 2. Attentive service, taking time to for a quick hello and explanation of the dish. Don’t let the small interior fool you. Worth the trip.

Lived in San Marcos 2.5 years now and decided to try a different pizza joint. Wish we would’ve found it sooner! Food was FANTASTIC! Perfect crust, evenly covered with toppings so there’s something great in every bite! Prices were absolutely reasonable to feed a family of 5 of which 3 are hungry teen boys! GREAT, GREAT, GREAT on all aspects of a restaurant and service provided! Highly recommend Casa Angelo! This time was delivery next time we will go in for our meal!

Starving, and craving a ‘pile o’ pasta’, I turned to Unilocal. Found Casa Angelo, with it’s 4 of 5 stars; and liked reviews which included things like, «Mom n Pop restaurant» and, «lovely couple who run the place». So, my(young adult) daughter, and I gave it a try. Oh my. My daughter was the first to comment that she wondered how long it could stay in business, as we were the ONLY dine-in customers, on a Saturday evening — the ENTIRE time we dined? ONE take-out order customer did come and go, while we were there. The phone, with its LOUDANNOUNCINGCALLER-ID, did ring about 3+/- times, presumably for pizza orders, but who knows? The street, San Marcos Blvd., is LINED with SO many dining options — nearly endless restaurants within a few blocks, in either direction. Including San Marcos’ Restaurant Row. So, a restaurant needs to bring their ‘A’ Game, to survive, in that sea of competitors. We went up to the counter, of the empty restaurant to order. The older gentleman, probably the Owner, took our order. We ordered the SPECIAL we’d seen posted on the outside window. Two of the Spinach Ravioli in Alfredo Sauce, with Salad, and Garlic Bread. To drink, we only wanted water(b/c we had sodas in the car). The dining area was ‘tired’ with the carpet worn-thru in areas. Old fake flowers on the tables. He brought us our water, in DISPOSIBLE cups, about 10 minutes after we ordered(it took quite a while for water). We thought after that much time, our salads would come too. But, that was another couple of minutes later. Our salads arrived on STYROFOAM plates, with a PLASTIC knife and fork. And finally, later, our entrees arrived. In Plastic paper-lined fast-food baskets. The Garlic bread was nestled in the basket; next to the entrée. The Ravioli entrées were served in a small ALUMNIMROUNDDISPOSIBLE tray — the type restaurants will send your leftovers home in… or the type that the old Sara Lee Frozen Cheesecakes came in. The spinach ravioli were okay, but the ALFREDO sauce was NEARLYINVISIBLE. I would describe the ravs as having, ATMOST, a ‘light dusting’ of Alfredo. They were sitting in NOSAUCE. There was NO sauce in the dish, in which to wipe your ravs around in, no sauce to dip the dry garlic bread in, etc. My daughter thought her garlic bread needed something, b/c it was dry — she thought it could have used more butter. After the food was served, they NEVER checked on us — never came back out to the ‘dining room’. Remember, they weren’t busy — we were the ONLY ones. We said, «Goodbye», after we bussed our own DISPOSIBLEDISHES into the trash(why did I leave a 20% tip, when I paid when we ordered, at the counter?!); and left — but the«Goodbye» was returned with complete silence. My daughter and I thought it would make for amusing memories — but, we’ll never go back.

First time eating here. Enjoyed the food, the nice people and the atmosphere. The patio area is nice and spacious with an outdoor fireplace. This is not a table service restaurant(at least for lunch). You order from a cashier and pay your tip in advance(a little strange). Food was brought to the table so I guess that’s where the tip comes into play. Not too busy between 12:00 and 1:00 on a Friday afternoon. Would eat here again if I was in the neighborhood. :)

Hole in the wall Italian place :] reasonable prices :] If you want good Italian food, not a chained restaurant, come here! I’ve only ordered Ravioli, and it’s delicious! Haven’t opted to order anything else yet. But perfect for take out! Had a late class get out early once and was craving Italian and this place happened to be open on my way home! Not known for their service, their food speaks for them!

Best little secret!!! This restaurant is tucked in a business center with little access to the best Italian food ever. A small family owned café that smells like«Little Italy». All of their menu items are delicious but may I suggest their best plate? Spaghetti and Meatballs. Light on the lamb with original beef and sausage this plate is slightly spicy straight from the kitchens of Northern Italy. Yum! They have daily and family specials… sometimes delivered directly to your door by the chef. Highly recommend.

We don’t hand-out five star reviews lightly, but enjoyed this pizza so much, it’s a no-brainer. Since coming to Southern California(from the Midwest) many years ago, we’ve yet to find a pizza we’d call«great.» — Californians have a different idea of what makes a good pizza, apparently, and to us, it’s a pretty low benchmark. We must have driven-past Casa Angelo’s a hundred(thousand?) times, and never even noticed it. After spotting something online, we decided to seek it out, and it was worth the trip. The place is a tiny, old-fashioned Mom & Pop«pizza dive»(in a good way), and we even had our pizza made by Angelo, himself, who turned-out to be a charming, gracious guy! Getting there a few minutes early, we got to watch him in the back, making the dough by hand, and building pizzas to-order. Everything about these pizzas tastes homemade… The crust is amazing, the sauce has just the right amount of «zing»(most California pizzas taste bland to us), and the toppings were fresh & generous. Haven’t had a chance(yet) to try the pasta and sandwiches, but this is now our official«go-to» pizza in San Marcos!

Carb Heaven! Eccellente! 4.5 out of 5 Stars Small little restaurant with a friendly couple working. My hubs and I got the Family Special for $ 17.95(1 large deluxe pizza, 1 antipasto salad, and garlic bread) The pizza was delicious! The crust was crispy and not too thick, toppings were plentiful and tasty. The salad and bread were good as well. I love supporting mom and pop restaurants and since the food and price are great, I would definitely be returning. :)
